Hello all,
I'm having a very annoying problem with my device (R800i). It happens that when I open the gamepad, the phone works normally.
But when I close it, the screen goes dark but the phone continues to work, only there is no light in the screen!
What might be the problem and how could be solved?
Thanks in advance.

seems like a flex cable problem.. but wait for others to reply to be sure.. as I am not that sure.. but seems that only.
Yeah, flex cable for sure.
You should order a new one and repair the Play by yourself (I've done it some time ago, thanks to Bakisha, and since my flex has broken again - 3 days ago - I ordered 2 new ones), since it's not that hard.

Thank you both.
I did some research myself and I also think it's the flex cable.
I've seen a tutorial on the net and I think it's a little bit riski doing it by myself. I will try to find a Sony technical assistance in my area. If not I will do it myself.
Do you recomend any tutorial in particular?

Not really, you just have to know how to properly disassemble the Play.
Btw, that's what Bakisha recommanded me to watch:

(?) Is the testpoint under the White sticker with the Phone info?
First of all, it won't be free(as in "it will cost you money").
Have you contacted Alejandrissimo (search for him here on XDA) or bought an Android Unlock on Omnius or SETool?
Have been a couple of days since I unlocked my sim/BL with this method, it's very easy, but you need first to do that; Alejandrissimo, SETool or Omnius
I hope I helped

Yeah the test point is behind the white sticker on your xperia play it is the same with all xperia plays just find a image on the internet or on youtube the easiest way is to use tweezers I also have o2 xperia play which was locked to o2 but I unlocked it via test point which also gives you the option to unlock your bootloader after. Hope this helps!!!

Hey , Okay so i have this huge problem with my xperia play , i was running it on stock GB (rooted) and i did a few app updates via the playstore. Then i knew my phone was running a tad slow. it was still working fine but was running much slower than usual. so i ignored it for abit then realised my phone was doing this problem!

it was freezing all the time! anyway i got flashtool an re-installed the stock gb to clear the problem it cured it for about 10 mins then all the same problems occurred. i soon realized that my phone would work 100% when the phone was slid up to horizontally. but when it was slid back down to vertical it just froze. So i thought i could be a problem with GB so i installed cynogenmod 9 and it never cured the problem.
I am really confused i have only had the phone for about 4 month with no other problems until now. i am gutted .
Is there anyone that could shed some light on this situation please? Any info is much appreciated.
Many Thanks
Alex
P.S : Could this be a graphics problem that's gone wrong inside?
Edit: the phone still rings and is still active when its slid down. Just cannot see nothing through them crash lines. I also fount out that if you slid the phone down slowley it creates a huge black line through the screen and starts to be blury.
This is really starting to be annoying theres nothing online about this.. some tech head must know something haha!
From the looks of it your flex cable is going out. And only works sideways look up a totorial on how to fix the flex cable

I just installed chainfire 3D n some games n thn its turn off itself and behaving like this.
Flash an ftf using flashtool but still not working? Might be hardware problem then.
If the screen gives a sany screen then your flex cable must be changed. But let it over to someone who has the knowledge don't do it by your self. I had the same problem i changed the flex but than my xperia play didn't show any screen

Any luck getting another rubber cover for the USB port? I'm in the same boat... bent mine after 3 days of use...
I've attached a photo of my LG G3's screen.
It is refurbished, warantee is probably out of the question and I just want to know what the problem is so I can evaluate whether or not to waste the effort/money to fix it.
EDIT: not sure whether it is relevant information but my phone has a custom ROM and is rooted as well.
Over the past few days I've started using an extended 8200mAH battery that has no real back cover.
And I think even a bit earlier than that circuit like marks started appearing on the very borders of the screen(EVEN if it is turned off! as you can see in the picture).
Anyone has any idea what it is? and if I can do something about it? (Probably moisture I believe... but I don't know what to do if this is the case).
Thanks to all helpers.
