Are there any cutom ROMs that are flashable via FlashTool? I have a bootloader unlock allowed=NO device, that's rooted, with busybox installed but I can't install a recovery so I was wondering if there is any ROM out there in .tft format that I can flash without a recovery.
Currently using stock 6.2.B.1.96
you gonna find a lot of roms in this forum, just search for your phone
Dude, I looked, And all I could find (besides stock ROMs, which I already get via OTA) is flashable zips, and since I can't install a recovery on my phone, the'yre of no use to me, are they. Thus, my search for custom ROMs flashable by FlashTool.
Oops. Forum done bad and double posted my message.

There are no custom roms which are in the ftf format. Only Sony can create sin files, from which ftf files are created. If my memory serves me well, in files could be created but that was only for 2010 Xperia Phones. All custom roms come as a zip which has to be flashed using a recovery.
I kind of expected this but I figured it was worth a try.
CM10 for Locked bootloader
Dude,
This has just been released today for locked bootloaders.

Give it a try
Yeah, but my whole problem is I can't get a recovery flashed so I can't flash zips.
Dude,
I guess you have tried installing recovery for locked bootloaders, what's the problem you have when installing it?

Of course, I tried installing a recovery for LB and got this error. Then I tried both the mobile and the desktop version of RecoverX which both report a succesful install, however I can't access recovery. I tried doomlords' reobooter app, pressing vol+ at the sony logo, tapping the screen at the sony logo, a combination of both, but the device hangs on a black screen and doesn't enter recovery.

did you enable usb debugging before trying to install cwm?
Ok,
So you do have USB debugging on and have also selected unknown sources from your settings?
Cause I have forgotten this myself in the past.

Yeah, sure I enabled USB Debugging and unknown sources.

I have, yes and the app says my device is not compatible.
Well that's a fail then.
When you extracted the file for Doomlords kit, did you put it on your desktop as sometimes if the file location is incorrect it will not run properly.

Yeah, I can and I have. But when I run it as admin I get this error, but when I run the .bat file without admin rights it connects and detects the device just fine.
(just to be clear, we're talking about the cwm-install-en.bat file, right?)
Yeah man.
Thus is all very strange, have you tried downloading the file again? What version of the kit are you using?

Hey peeps - another annoying n00b question (sorry)
I have the Doom v3 kernel and stock 2.3.3
Just want to know how I can boot into recovery so I can install a ROM zip?
I have tried every combination of buttons on startup including Power then tapping and holding Back and I cant get into recovery mode.
Please help i really want to try the GingerStation rom
Turn device off. When off press the power button once, then start tapping any hardware button untill device boots into recovery. You can also try doomlords xCharge app from the market.
Sorry i havent been very active in the forums recently. I will be updating rom soon with some cool features and a new name

AFAIK you have to boot into recovery the standard way. Like the person above described. Once you do that CWM creates a directory in /cache called "recovery" then xCharge works fine

No, it's completely stock, I've read I have to flash a file in recovery, I've got it, but I don't know how to reboot in recovery with button combination.
To get cwm, root using doomlords easy toolkit, search development
Then install this app and click install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler
After you have installed that, boot on your phone, and when you see the sony ericsson screen, repeatedly tap volume down until you get into cwm
WOW! It's very easy this way, thanks a lot
Another quick question, now bootloader is unlocked?
Can I flash any custom roms like any other device? (flash in recovery mode)
Thanks again.
That way i showed is to install CWM with a LOCKED bootloader.
This will allow you to flash STOCK based roms, no others
This is not unlocking bootloader, just getting CWM
If you want to unlock your bootloader, you have to go to the sony website or pay to unlock it
Oh, so I can't flash CM roms, but I can with stock based, right?
I knew about Sony website, but I though there was other ways to have the bootloader unlocked.
Well, thank you a lot, now I have to find a good stock based rom.

I decided to flash some ZIPs and so as usual go to CWM and flash. I've noticed this time it doesn't work, the usual way I do it is pressing the back button, tried the volume down button as well but no luck. Is there any reason why this happened? Could it be because I flashed a new framework recently that added on screen buttons? Or could have it been some modules I flashed to enable USB drives on my phone for stock ROM.
Is it possible to re install it without messing up my phone? I have modified the SystemUI and Framework so I'm not sure if I can. I use a program called RecoverX to install CWM but it only works on stock ROMs, I'm on stock but could the modified Framework make the installation corrupted? I may want to try using X-Parts but it has never successfully installed CWM for me which is why I use RecoverX.

It should not be the problem of the framework. Not very sure about the USB Drivers though. If you are willing to unlock bootloader, you can flash a stock kernel with CWM and try to flash the zip files again.

Sadly, my bootloader status is unable to be unlocked. I suppose I could always flash back to stock ROM but I don't want to re install and configure everything again. Once I re-flash everything I would probably get the same problem I had in the first place. I cannot make a nandroid back up as well although I did find an app in the play store that will create one for you, although I'd prefer using CWM because it seems much safer. Does anyone know if reinstalling it would damage the phone? I'll try contacting the developer of the program. ,

Not that I know of, since you cannot unlock bootloader. If you could, flashing a kernel with CWM would have done the trick.

just try to flash it again, go to flashmode in flashtool and choose your ftf file, then tutorial window appear and you know what to do
It flashed just fine, but I can't access the recovery. Do I need to flash another file?
Is there a way to flash the custom ROM outright? I'm interested in the gaming NXT, as I won't be using it as a phone anymore.

before accessing recovery you have to root your phone with flashtool then you have to install CWM recovery, without installing it you cannot use recovery on stock kernel
here is the link for you where you can see all you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649368
About custom ROMs, you have to install them through recovery so your best bet is to have bootloader unlocked and install any custom kernel or custom ROM without worrying for root and recovery, if your bootloader is locked then you can only use stock kernel and ROMs based on stock...
Hey, I have a friend with a Sony Xperia Ion (as identified by my computer) she's locked out of it; someone else tried to figure out her pattern and entered it more than 20 times. As far as I know, she doesn't know her secret question or her google account information, either.
My plan to try to bypass the pattern lock is to use AROMA file manager to delete the gesture.key file in /data/system, hopefully that'll remove the pattern lock. So here are my questions:
How can I mount the filesystem on USB to transfer AROMA to her SD?
How can I get into recovery mode to flash AROMA?
The second one is what I really don't get. How does recovery mode work on the Xperia Ion? I can't seem to get it to boot into recovery. Everything I've tried (Hold volume up/volume down/both while powering on) still causes the phone to boot normally.
Did you flash recovery before? If yes you may have to rap SONY logo 5-6 times while booting to get in to recovery or press volume + button 5-6 times while booting. Remember Sony phones do not have stock recovery. You have to flash custom recovery.
And I know another way to remove lock code. Just flash stock ftf. But are you going to loose all the apps.

I am not an expert in this area. I just wanted to get rid of bloatware from my Xperia Arc (2011 edition). So I followed the procedure given here
http : // talk.sonymobile com/thread/97327 (basically unlocked boot-loader, and flashed using another firmware to get root access).
The phone was working well for 2 months. One day I turned on Bluetooth and phone crashed. Now it starts and at the boot animation restarts. I gave it to service center but they said they will not repair because of some policy.
Please suggest a solution to this. (I have USB debugging enabled already on it).

I will check if this mobile has recovery installed into it. Where can I get stock firmware? Sorry I am really new to this stuff.
If you Google "xperia arc s 4.1.0.b.587 ftf" or something in Google you'll get results. The stock ROM is somewhere in the dev section too, use the search button, I'm on my new phone and search works weird here.
I assume since you unlocked BL you have drivers for your device.. In this case use flashtool, click on the lightning icon, navigate to your firmware file and connect phone in flash mode (menu + USB cable I think, I have not used my arc for some time but it should give you green LED if you done correctly), flashing will automatically start

use this thread for your stock ftf files and use the flashtool.
After that make sure you have got the correct kernel for the rom which you choose and always backup your system using recovery.
