Bluetooth A2DP Audio Stream Issues

Hey Fellas,
Coming from a Note 2, I instantly loved the form factor of this phone. Built well
I'm having some issues connecting my bluetooth and streaming music on it.
My receiver is a Tunelink bluetoothwireless and the programs i'm using on it is mainly spotify. I did try beyondcast, but still having the same issue.
When streaming music or any sort of audio, I'm getting very spotty audio output. I would hear a slight static, then it'll cut out and resume at a different location. It seems to me that there is somekind of lag that goes into the system.
Calls made through my car does not have these issues. I've tested the tunelink and it seems to work fine. Anyone else having this issue?
I'm not understanding where its coming from. A possible fix would be greatly appreciated

There seem to be issues with the bluetooth on this thing. Another forum member and myself both have problems staying connected to some of our bluetooth devices. I can connect to my car without any problems, but I can't connect to my bluetooth enabled housephone properly. If I try to make or receive a call, it's instant disconnection.
I'd lump your problem in with what's been described as faulty software.

I use Jaybird Bluetooth earphones at the gym. I have had zero problems with bluetooth, I can keep connection at about 30 feet. Just
my lil bit of info.

Yep. And my car will stay connected for over 2 hrs, through phone calls and hangups; never an issue. Then when connecting to my home phone, it's disconnect-mania. Most people don't seem to have problems, but some, like myself, certainly do.
And the reason I blame it on the LGOG is because my old phone (LGOS) always had a solid connection to the home phone. Only thing that changed is my cell.

I have no problems streaming, from a motorokr s305, a nokia bh-505, and a JVC unit in the car. I do get somewhat of a poor connection with the motorokr s305, though. I just figured it was the age of the headset itself.

I do not have issues with my LG stereo Bluetooth, and with my Kenwood head unit, my only problem seems to be auto-connecting. It also has some skips, which has happened on all my phones since I got the head unit. Need to updates its firmware and see if that helps with any issues.

Bluetooth problem when streaming in car?

None of you guys have any issues with streaming audio music/pandora/google music on your phone to the car? My problem is getting worst and I cant stand it any longer. The music would skip constantly every few seconds making it unbearable. I checked google and few people has problems with it on androidcentral, im surprised no thread for it on here?

No issues here since device came out. Have a uconnect setup in my car and stream everything from my phones BT to the vehicle's BT. My old device did that often, had an older version of BT though I think? I've yet to have issues, sure maybe 1-2 times every week a song might skip a beat but not at all on the regular. If it's a regular occuranxe it could be a bad connection. I would then delete the profile and link from scratch the vehicle and phone's BT.
Also while listening and if it gets bad. Stop the BT connection, then reconnect. Sometimes a reconnection is better than your previous and skips go away. I just turn BT off on my device, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on and let the 2 connect. Try this and the above, those 2 methods should work if not one or the other.

I get static issues if someone calls me while I am listening to bluetooth audio, and then switch back to music. Usually switching to the radio and then back to bluetooth audio resolves this. Try making sure your settings in pairing options are set to allow data transfer between the device and your car. I initially could not even connect my device until I checked off that option.

I used to have the issue with HTC One M7 and Galaxy S4 in my Renault Medianav, but no such issues with the One M8,.

I can semi- validate this issue. I have three Bluetooth devices. My headset for phone calls will get some static if my M8 is also connected to my HTC Stereoclip, but goes away as soon as I'm out of range of the Stereoclip. Because of this, and the fact my Stereoclip runs on battery and often fails to disconnect after I leave car mode, I tried switching out my Stereoclip for the RocketFish Bluetooth Music Receiver.
Now, I don't get the static, but when streaming music through the RocketFish, it skips every 20-40 seconds. I've swapped out the RocketFish twice and have had the same issue each time.
Based on queries on the Android Revolution HD thread, the developers are saying it's a base issue and needs to be fixed by HTC.
I just find it odd that the Stereoclip will steam media without skipping, but third party hardware like the RocketFish does skip. Also, my headset doesn't get the aforementioned static issues with the RocketFish.
Also worth noting I have not had both the Stereoclip and RocketFish paired to my phone at the same time.

Just wanted to second this. Mine isn't that bad, but every so often (3-5 minutes) the music skips about 0.5 seconds. Have tried stopping my navigation app, putting the phone to sleep, and unplugging the charger. Nothing works so far.
Pretty sure it is not a pairing issue since this started the first time I paired my phone to the car stereo.
Needless to say, not happening when listening with headphones or speakers.
Any insight or updates would be very helpful. Thanks.

Have a cheap'ish Chinese double din headunit (Xtrons).
M8 connects fine to phone and music with no issues with calls or music

I have the same problem using a Sony Bluetooth Speaker BTX300.
It's really annoying. It happens with Deezer, Spotify or internal mp3. It does not happen on voice calls.
Maybe it's something related to the Bluetooth bitrate not handled correctly by device ?

Only happens to me in stock radio over bluetooth with the mylink system in the new chevys. No problem with my Kenwood head unit in my Cherokee though

On stock Bell ROM, pre camera/EPSM update, happened every minute in my 2011 Subaru WRX as well as my Motorola Buds. I flashed InsertCoin 2.4.0 and ElementX 0.10 today... no more skipping. Not sure which it was.

I'd had this issue before on my m7 with Pandora. Are you guys using adaway? If so, disable it and try again, it should go away

Hi guys,
Resurrecting this thread. I am having skipping/stuttering issues with my phone when streaming using Spotify over bluetooth A2DP.
I've tested this on 3 different bluetooth devices (Volvo, Belkin and another bluetooth speaker).
The problem is very annoying, once the screen goes off, music would slightly pause every 20-30 seconds.
This happens when using Spotify and TuneIn Radio.. so I'm pretty sure it's not an application problem.
Anyone else having the same problem? I'm running 4.4.3 - 2.07.980.2..
Also, I'm pretty sure this only started happening after the latest update from HTC.

[UPDATE] I've tried doing some tests with turning wifi - OFF and I did not experience any sound/music skips during this morning commute. I will see how this goes in the next few days.

I'm using an app that starts playing music as soon as I connect to my cars Bluetooth. Luckily this app also provides "wifi off on connect"
Gonna give this a try. Really hope this fixes the audio drops. Hate it.

So from one day with Wifi off I can definitely tell it doesn't drop audio on Bluetooth streaming anymore.
So turn your Wifi off to fix the m8 ?

Glad it works for you as well, this has fixed the problem for me most of the time. I use the Trigger app to turn off wifi when bluetooth connects.
On another issue which I don't think is related to the above, on my Volvo at random times, I still have severe stuttering issues to the point that you almost can't tell what music is playing. I've been having this since day 1 with the M8 and not from recent fw upgrade as above. I'm not sure whether this is Spotify or the bluetooth stack tho.
Nevertheless, any of the blueooth issues were something I never experienced with Samsung Galaxy S3, Xperia Z or any other phones. HTC!!, are you listening!?!

I have the same problems connecting to my Arcam rBlink at home with my M8. Music dropouts every 20-30 secs. Streaming from my sons M7 is flawlessly.
Stopping Wifi makes it slightly better but is no option since I want to use spotify over wifi.
Could it be a problem with a low bit rate for bluetooth audio?
Arcam gives the advice to increase it for OS X as high as 58.

I am also getting this issue as of late....
I'm using an unrooted Sprint M8 HK phone.
My problem is audio drop out (0.5 sec) constantly. Doesn't make a difference over BlueTooth or the speakers.
It appears that it is related to the phone accessing something during playback which causes the dropout.
It does it when streaming over wif or data... it even does it with audio that I have downloaded to my SD card...
I have uninstalled everything back to when I thought the issues started with no luck.
Anyone with any ideas? I see where some have had this issue and even a hard reset (wipe) didn't solve it.
This doesn't occur on my Verizon M8 which has almost the identical app's installed.

I have an international version M8, bluetooth skips randomly when streaming on car bluetooth and to my sony srs X9 speaker. It seems to happen only with continuos feeds. Mi cousin told me the problem could be that bt device is searching at all times for other devices but since there is no option to stop search i can't be sure.

I am also having problems I have a Scala headset on my crash helmet it doesn't matter if WiFi is on or not when streaming music, It seems to be better with the play music app the car app is annoying because it comes part of htc and I don't know how to disable it without rooting the phone. Has anyone come up with a solution yet? It sounds like an old LP playing with the stylus jumping like a good en.

Bluetooth Audio Stream Issues

Hi Guys,
I've been using my unit for quite a while now. Everything works fine except for Bluetooth. I'm using the latest Condu's ROM on a KLD device with up to date MCU. When I connect my iPhone and use it to stream songs the sound gets choppy as if it had a RAM outage. However I checked (and purged all processes) the RAM and it's fine, not even near full. What's interesting is that all other apps that are played locally (Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn) works fine. I already formated multiple times without success. Also tried Malaysk ROM once and the problem persisted. Is there any known solution for this?

Turn off the phone's WiFi, it is a known problem for all bluetooth audio devices when streaming close to WiFi as they share the same channel as WiFi.

I tried with all WiFi off (my phone, the head unit, both combinations) and the problem persistis. I haven't had this problem in any other bluetooth audio device. Any other suggestion?

I have the same problem, electronical fizz in the sound, and it starts after a while not immediately.

I'm having similar issues from my Note 5. Even my Gear S2 seems to have weak connection as I get disconnected on the other side of the room.

Even with iPhones the bluetooth connection was horrible, popping like crazy and drove me crazy after 10 minutes.

Bluetooth Headphones Troubles

Hi guys,
Im just wondering has anyone encountered any issues with using bluetooth headphones on the Nexus? I've try watching movies on the nexus using MX Player and VLC player but after watching something for like 15-20 min, it loses its connection. As for listening to music using Google Music, it'll be fine but the music at time will be a bit choppy, but still maintains connectivity. I currently have the Jaybird X2. I unpaired and had manually forgotten the headset pairing with the headphones, restarted the nexus, and then paired it. I've done this 3 times in the last 2 months but the issue is still persisting. I've been using the headphones after the nexus updated to 6.0 via OTA. Today i've updated the nexus to 6.0.1 via OTA but still the same issue.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you!

From my personal experiences, I suspect that it has something to do with heat buildup in the RF section and/or interference between the WIFI and Bluetooth frequencies.
When I've disabled WIFI but left Bluetooth on, Bluetooth seems to be more stable and less choppy. Another possibility is to go into settings and change the WIFI frequency selection from auto to 2.4ghz only. That sometimes helps.

Potential issue with 802.11n networks causing Bluetooth audio dropouts?

Has anyone else had issues with Bluetooth audio stutter/dropping out during music playback?
Main issue is while driving and pixel xl is playing (offline) music to car stereo via Bluetooth, in areas with open wifi , the music stutters.
I currently have an open case with google regarding this.
I carried some of my own troubleshooting as follows :
I have tested connecting to my Bluetooth JAM speaker at home and toggling wifi where the signal is strong.
While disconnecting and being joined to my 802.11AC network, no issues.
While being connected to my 802.11N network however the audio DOES have dropouts.
With wifi off, 4G on - No issues
This is while playing offline music so the internet connection is not required to play the music.
Tried with Spotify and google play music
The fact that the 802.11n network seems to be what causes the issue matches the issues while driving in my car, listening to music via Bluetooth to car stereo.
I think while driving the dropouts/stuttering audio are caused as the phone tries to connect to the many open 802.11n networks around when driving down streets etc.
I don't get any issues when driving on motorways, away from any networks.
Neither my galaxy s7 edge or LG G4 exhibit this issue with the same setup.
Does anyone else experience this?

I was having the same problems and so I turned off the WiFi while listening over BT in my car stereo. with WiFi on I would probably get about 20 interruptions in a 30 minute drive. this was reduced to one with WiFi off. it makes sense since Bluetooth and WiFi operate at similar wavelengths but I've never had this issue on any previous phone. it's really shi++y that we have problems like this and then crackling phone speakers on such a high end and expensive device. I'm really disappointed in google

So far Google have asked me to provide debug reports, which I have.
I have also factory reset and get the same issue.
I seemed to get more dropouts after the new Google play services installed but not sure if that is the cause yet as it coincided with the wi-fi being idle but connected.
With wi-fi connected and the phone busy restoring all my apps, it didn't seem to dropout hardly.

I have also had drop out issue during playback. Mine stutters no matter what. Wi-Fi on and off I get stutters. I started experiencing this a few days back. At first I thought it might have been viper FX but after turning off the app I still got the stutters. It is coming to be very annoying as I listen to music all the time. I'm running on 7.1.2 stock, rooted.

I finally got a reply from google regarding my case on this and they advised this is fixed in an upcoming update due in the "next few weeks".
I installed 7.1.2 (NOT beta) from the OTA image and sure enough it now appears to be fixed! Happy days!

I got 7.1..2 OTA this morning and it has not fixed my issue. If I turn my BT headphones off and wait 30 mins and turn them back on the stuttering is there. At least all I have to do is turn BT off/on (while leaving the headphones on) and no more stuttering (at least for as long as I played music). So no love for me I guess

My issue was 100% directly related to 802.11n wifi networks though, doesn't sound like yours is as this would only happen when it would try to join 802.11n wifi. Turn wifi off and it never happened for me.
I gave them detailed information and debug logs which proved what caused the fault and looks like they have fixed it.
