It depends on how busy the servers. If you are using official then update now using KIES.

The software update was available at 10:30 am yesterday after 6 hours the updates went crazy and the you're in que text popped up.. my guess is you guys can update it via ota within 4 this afternoon.

Downloading over ota guys it just started downloading for me its 262.88mb

I have just rooted my galaxy note2 N7100 firmware version:XXDMC3........ And got success confirmed by using rooted apps.....but i am not able see the apps stuff in root folder...... Its shows empty folder..... Plz help

It will not update,
It will show that the device has been modified and no further updates will be available.
you will have to update manually
