samsung-galaxy-ace-fit-mini-and-gio

The simple answer is no. The Sgy
hardware is limited and besides there is no libraries or drivers for it..

ICS for galaxy y: Probably we're going in the wrong direction????

Hello everyone, I'm associated with custom roms for sgy. Recently I met a person, who had successfully installed an sgy custom rom in galaxy ace. These two phones are more similar than we ever thought. So, why not the other way around??? Interested devs could actually modify ace ics roms and install it on y, instead of fiddling with galaxy mini????
Fantastic idea, I know, bit not improbable ...Coz I still have the Guy's pm ....

you might be not aware the problem. here is the analogy. i have two notebook. both have x86 cpu, both have same lcd size and same resolution. my acer one use nvidia gpu and my asus one use ati. i can install windows 7 on both, but i need different set of driver to make both running without issue. and the problem not only for gpu, but almost for everything. the only one component where both can share same driver is cpu.
in phone world the situation event much worse. in pc world we have ibm-pc compatible. none in phone world. different type using different component and different soc. armv6 only cover cpu side. the other side completely different.

yes but drivers are available for your ati gpu, your soundcard..
it will be something like a 'Frankalaxy' yes, but it would definitly be a start!
btw people must be aware of this but anyway here is an article on freeyourandroid/guide/porting-android .com [remove the space pls]
maybe this could help.
and yes the galaxy ace is closer to galaxy y due to generation of production
i.e mini/gio are old phones while ace and y are in the same generation.
Would request someone to try...
I'm from a pure symbian background and still learning android dev so....
would love if someone could lead to me some heads up article

When I see at Cm site and forum phones like lg optimus one, htc desire or samsung galaxy mini I feel awful.
How this phones and many other low spect phones do have CM and we don't.
We all know that SGY is better than mini(not such a big deal) or htc desire(froyo, lower screen resolution) or lg optimus one(king of lag and bugs, froyo).
And I wonded how are those drivers so important that a lot lower phones are getting higher and us lower?
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong and help me figure out this mistery...

you should have gotten a mini,
it's reality that we don't have CM for this device,
it does not bother me though,
we have a lot of custom roms though not as good as a stable CM could be but it's better than nothing,
there are nearly 2,000+ android devices and only about 30(?)+ has a CM and nearly 300(?)+ has developed custom OEM roms,
so consider us luckier than nothing

Roms like 2.6.7 gingerbread on which cyanogenmod 7.2 is based on.....use hardware support i.e. GPU to render graphics. Acei and galaxy y have 2.6.6 which uses software to render graphics. If we get the sources , we can use the gpu which was locked because of the lack of the availability of these sources. Once the sources are out it will help in running cyanogen smoothly and help in correcting the bugs we are facing now. Hope you got the point!?!?

Port JellyBean Rom from Galaxy Ace II GT-i8160 - Official JB Update Released!

Port JellyBean Rom from Galaxy Ace II GT-i8160
EDIT: Official Development Thread Now Open:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38911651
I opened this thread hoping that some dev would be interested in porting this rom to our Wonder.
Do i think it could be done? I'm not sure that's why i'm asking.
Do i think it's possible? Of course! that's why i opened this thread.
We have a working, super smooth, fantastic CM10 already, why want this?
Of course i love CM10, Arco's latest update Alpha 6 is super smooth. I'm using it right now. But i'm just thinking of the benefits if somebody would be able to port this rom. This is a stock Samsung rom, meaning we can have a fully working:
1) Original Samsung Camera 2) Original Samsung FM Radio
Perhaps there are some other things, but these 2 are worth mentioning.
Here's a comparison with our phone and why i think it's possible to port this rom:
Code:
SGW i8150 SGA 2 i8160
cpu 1.4 Ghz 800Mhz dual core
ram 512 Mb 768 Mb
internal 4 Gb (2 Gb rom) 4 Gb
display 480x800 480x800
Click here for a detailed comparison
Of course there are some challenges, big challenge i guess:
1. The chipsets are different, SGW is using a Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon, while SGA II uses NovaThor U8500
2. The GPU's are also different. SGW: Adreno 205 SGA II: Mali-400
Here's the link to the thread hosting the official JellyBean update for the Samsung Galaxy Ace II
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139206
But hey! who knows what our great devs here can do with it.
So, let's pray that someone would be interested and take the challenge.

Yeah.. hope we will get it...

Hope we'll have a good developer to do that
It's going to be great if we get this ROM. I guess it's needed to change drivers only, but if it's only that, I still don't know how hard it is.
For the chipset and related drivers i think that we can use Arco68's JB 3.0.XX Kernel

Yes we do, unfortunately they are very much focused on CM right now. So let's just hope.
I'm trying to contact some developers from other threads on this also, but no progress yet.
Re: Port JellyBean Rom from Galaxy Ace II GT-i8160
I'll cry if we have a people to develop this
Edit: okay I'll try to do this but don't give too big hope on this because I'm not sure I can do or not, I'm very interesting on this topic and hope someone will support me to port this ROM together
Miki2o do u interested on this? Want do together? Because we develop oneofakind and hackin'ROM and if we do this together will easier
