Hi,
I've unlocked my bootloader using fastboot like described on htcdev.com. Then, after the reboot, I've installed the ClockworkMod ROM Manager and followed the instructions till the download of the recovery image. Once the download is finished though, I get the message: "An error ocurred while flashing your recovery"? Am I missing some setting or something?
Thanks

Sorry, but what does that mean? Going into fastboot with vol-down + power and then selecting recovery?
No flash the recovery like the unlock token.
Enter fastboot usb mode and flash the recovery by command

Thanks, it worked! Although I payed for the touch version of CWM, which I installed, but it's not working
payed for CWM ? they are all free......don't know what you bought ? .....
flash this recovery and touch works (you are probably on a high hboot, 1.72, 1.73)

Yeah well, I thought for support, whatever...
ah you bought the rommanager app, well that won't work indeed because we need s-off for those kind of flashing procedures and we don't have s-off on the hox. All flashing goes via fastboot and pc.
I bought rom permium + the touch recovery.
i think the last recovery from them is 5.8.4.0 (or similar) and that works, but not with touch on the latest hboots. waste of money, sorry to say

I used CWM 3.0.0.5 and 2.5.1.3, both are not working
And I use the official rom, I am not flash new rom(Revolution) yet.

Hmmmm. I'm stumped. The only thing I can suggest is flash the pb98img from your bootloader and reroot.

I suppose you can boot your phone right?? Then the easiest way to get cwm is via an app called "Rom Manager". Download Rom manager from market and choose flash recovery...it would do it. Enjoy!

He definitely has hboot eng s-off so this won't help.
Perhaps you should try using rom manager to download and install cwm? You may be trying to flash an incorrect recovery version. Where did you get your recovery.img from? If it's cwm it would normally be named recovery-clockworkmod-2.5.1.3.img or similar. Recovery.img would normally be the filename for the stock recovery.

Someone Swyped my idea.
Yeah, I recommend verifying that you are trying to flash a DHD recovery. Try it like this:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery <path>

And I download the recovery.img from XDA and I check the MD5.
BTW the file name is clockwork-2.5.1.3.img, then I renamed it to recovery.img.

Ok assuming that the md5 sum of the file you downloaded is correct and you have got HTC sync installed in your pc, i suggest you to use this guide to flash your recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896597
This is a guide to flash radio but it should work fine for recovery as well. Just replace the word radio with recovery.

I relock bootloader, and I start from the beginning (unlock bootloader, flash recovery) but I can not always enter in CWM
could you not just boot in to fastboot and flash the recovery image and boot.img? then boot into recovery and flash the ROM?

I've tried flashing a recovery.img through fastboot after successfully rooting my phone, but all I can get is a bootscreen hang, note: I can turn on my phone fine, but not the recovery portion of it.
Tried: CWM Recovery through APP and through Terminal.
Info: HTC One V Virgin Mobile, no SIM so PrimoC.
Anything I can do to try to solve this? Would love to flash AOKP or PACman.
Try the TWRP recovery. Works great on mine, and I love the touch screen controls Make sure you place the twrprecovery.img file in your fastboot folder, then flash it in fastboot.

you may be primo u or you flashed a recovery for primo u because all recoveries are working

I'm flashing the correct image, I'm 100% sure of it. SetCPU says my phone is PrimoC, so I download a PrimoC Recovery, flash it by typing in:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Successful, reboot into bootloader again and try loading recovery, nothing but a long boot screen.

flash this
I mean your getting the wrong file
If this has been answered elsewhere I'm sorry but I can't find the answer. I've unlocked the bootloader on my HTC One X. Flashed Clockwork Mod and I can get in to recovery. I then tried to install Cyanogenmod from the SD card and that ran and said it had completed. But, when I reboot it sticks on the HTC quietly brilliant screen and goes no further! Any ideas if there is anything I can do other than go back. If I need to go back, where do I get the RUU? I'm in the UK and it says Hboot 1.38 if that helps on the Fastboot screen.
Spent 3 evenings now trying to root this phone. Not easy

Not working
Well none of the above suggestions worked! Can't mount the USB storage now to copy nandroid backup across, so I've relocked and am trying to get a RUU to try that!
Has anyone ever had these things sorted by a shop? Disappointed with myself for messing up but patience is running out now
Do you know what ruu to use ?
Fastboot getvar version-main
Is the command that will tell which ruu you need !
Otherwise try this :
Unlock the bootloader
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
Then flash this recovery
http://db.tt/iXT4t3NH rename it to recovery.img
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter the recovery and mount as usb mass storage.

Depends on what you want. If you want the CM10.1 i would copy the vendors file to the sdcard too !
Make a full wipe, install the CM10.1.zip, install gapps.zip and then the vendors file. Then flash the boot.img with fastboot and reboot

I installed CM 10, flashed the boot.img and it's still hanging on the "quietly brilliant" screen!
You mean the CM10.1 right ? There is a vendors file that has to be installed after the rom otherwise it won't boot !
Edit.....opening post says it .....sorry

First of all, make sure that the bootloader is unlocked,
then flash philz or twrp 2.6.3.0 or cwm 5.8 touch recovery or 6.0.3.2 non touch recovery.
Now mount usb storage from the recovery and copy the stock rom nandroid backup or any custom rom that u wanna install, to the internal storage.
Now, Unmount usb storage and restore the backup/install the custom rom.
