Root for Build number M919UVUEMK2? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Buddy of mine wants me to root his device if possible.
New to rooting the Samsung devices (HTC guy here). I've rooted the OG Evo, 3vo, Evo 4G LTE, and the One. So I know what I'm doing from that stand point.
My question is, will root for any M919 work for this device or is there a specific root method to use?
Sorry, if this has been answered before - trying to figure out where to head from here.
Thanks guys.

Thanks bud! Much appreciated.

Np. Google search it. It's under the Verizon GS4 threads. I tested it out on my m919 and it works. Also check out Safestrap (3.71) for the recovery.

Will give it a look, awesome.
But, my buddy is being a little puss and wants to know how certain you are this won't brick his device.
I am certain it's safe, but he wants a little extra confirmation as well.

I swear I used this and it worked and it's harmless if it does not work. Look up harmless in the search box for that thread and you'll see the developer responding to my question

Running into a problem. Flashed a Google edition rom, mistakenly on the Stock rom Partition of the device. Phone didn't boot, stupidly forgot to make a nandroid.
Computer can't find the device in ADB and Mount USB storage isn't working in recovery. I can get to stock recovery and push the ROM but it's not accepting the update file.
Any ideas?

You can try flashing the stock odin image that is not rooted.

Sorry, I ****ed up and he's getting pretty worried - and rightly so.

Have you tried just doing a factory reset and rebooting it?
Here is the link: https://www.copy.com/s/hzfaqBpWhinn/M919UVUEMK2_M919TMBEMK2_TMB.zip
I am not a hundred percent sure that this will keep the knox at 0, and I do not hold responsibility for anything you do to your or anybody else's electronic device.

That's fine. I can get ADB to work in stock recovery but it aways aborts installation after signature verification.
Trying the zip you linked just now.

Ok, got it back to stock.
Whew.
Now to try it all again with out screwing it up.

Check the sticky in this forum, maybe.
A lot of people like the toolkit. I'm still using zedomax's way most of the time

the flash counter tells Samsung if you've been flashing custom software if you ever need warranty repair.
An app

Is there really any reason to be afraid of this and to avoid it by all means? From what I can understand there is a way to reset the counter to 0 so it does not seem to be a threat, but again I cannot be sure.
Not really. Its mostly just personal preference at this point.
I still use the root66 fw though because I flash and experiment so often I wind up needing odin eventually. Figure if ive got to odin, I may as well use the pre-rooted fw.
Some say the toolkit is easier, but as long as you know the steps, it doesn't get much safer than flashing stock with odin. Not at all difficult either.

New to the S3 seems different than the S2

Guys some help. I been searching around the proper filer to root this phone but some of the links are old and not working.
Somebody need to get all of these together and make it a sticky on the development section.
I guess to root this is like rooting my s2. Flash recovery with odin and then flash the SU. But cant find it.
I want the latest recovery for odin the latest su and I want the stock ICS and JB roms with odin in case I do something bad and I need to flash that to unroot. and get it stock.
Can somebody point me out this. And please somebody make those files sticky so future members like me and old member would have everything handy and easy to find.
another thing. Do we flash radios here? On my s2 we could flash any kind of tmobile radios for better performance and data. Witch are the radios?
Another thing that I noticed when this phone came out is the people were loosing the IMEI number on their device how was that posible and what they do so I wont go through it

Thank you for your information. I have found several ways to root. 1 with odin like I used to do with the s2. and 2 with a odin stock rom and no tripping flash counter. Is that still an issue. Is there a way to reset the counter? I used to go back to stock all stock on my s2 and root several times before and that was never an issue! First time I see this about flash counter!.

Yeah tripping the flash counter is still an issue. basically it just keeps you from using all share an to watch movies from the media hub.
What I did when I fist got the phone was Odin root66 then downloaded goo and installed twrp via the app "not cwm"

No IMEI / Null

What is the best way to fix it? I tried restoring stock rom, stock root injected rom all via Odin and also flashing modem and still no success. It is showing baseband unknown even tried restoring few of my nand backup using twrp and still no luck.
I've been looking for a while. I'm still not sure how to fix this. I think its a corrupt efs. Did you backup efs in any of your nandroids?

Can you link to what you flashed?
If it was stock firmware you'll have to reroot. SuperSU might still be there if you didn't factory reset, but it'd just be the app.

Can I just flash root in odin. Will I brick my phone trying to root it. Cause I have clock work but not root.
Edit: I tried towelroot. It says I SHOULD ALREADY HAVE ROOT. Smh.
Go to /system/xbin and check if you have the su binary there.
If not, uninstall SuperSU and try again. If it is there try flashing the SuperSU update zip. You can find the link to it in chainfires thread.
You can root other ways, but the above two are the methods I prefer.

You can always pm him, but I doubt he will be able to help much more than anyone else. I'm not sure what's going on, but I don't believe it to be the ROMs fault. But it is an older ROM... What is your current base firmware/bootloader build? Open terminal emulator and enter this to find out....
getprop ro.bootloader
I would also suggest considering a different ROM. It appears that it is no longer supported by anyone, and there are several more current ones you can use. Depends on what your base firmware is though.

Well then you'll have to flash stock recovery and unfreeze all the system apps so it passes the check. Now what I did, since I couldn't find the 97 recovery was flash the 90 recovery and then applied the 97 ota through sd_update, then I applied the 139 update,

Read the thread "change from CN to WW" its on this forum search it, read the thread thoroughly and everything you need is there, and I explained to you in this thread how to unroot, do this last before you update, you should research before you try these things, everything you want to know is already on this forum, there is a guide to help you with virtually all you need.

It doesn't matter what you are running the point is this will explain what to do, so if you can't figure that out maybe you should not be trying to manipulate your phone till you do some research

there is a thread on how to flash ota updates via twrp, no need to flash stock recovery. you WILL have to remove root and xposed though.
