locked out - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello everyone.
Somehow I managed to lock myself out of my own phone using the pincode screen lock. I've tried a few trouble shooting solutions which I found online, including downloading something from my computers google play store. Nothing seems to be working and I was wondering if anyone here knew how to help me out?
I've using a sprint galaxy s3 with cm-10.2.0-RC1 mod and I can still access TWRP.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

unfortunately your only option is probably a factory reset, cache and dalvik wipe.
you can do a backup first, reset and probably then restore data for your apps and their data, that probably doesn't include the pin settings which would be saved in the system settings (I would think)

Have you tried using your Google account to recover your lock code?

tried this today, apparently the pin is saved to the data. that was the only part of the backup I couldn't restore.

You might try using an app like MyBackupPro and do a selective backup of apps and their data and not use the recovery restore.
Only thing I could find on pin and google account was for wallet and voice, admittedly I didn't spend more than a few minutes googling it. Figured I'd take a look as well, for ya.
Good luck
EDIT: there is an app for that https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.thomascannon.screenlockbypass.pro&hl=en

According to Google, if you enter a bad pattern 5 times you should see an option for "forgot pattern," which you can use to log into your Google account and bypass the lockscreen.

that's what I thought too, but I'm thinking cyanogenmod disables this feature. Its told me on numerous occasions "you got the password wrong 15 times, please wait 30 seconds then try again"

Hm. No idea there, but if that's the case then perhaps it's possible that there is a way to flash a patch to restore that functionality.

Flash this in recovery. Phone will be unlocked on boot. This is safe to use on ANY phone where u cannot pass the screen lock. Made by me so please don't do nothing unethical with it

worked like a charm. you sir, are amazing. thank you!

Thanks for the bypass alternative, Billard.
As an epilogue to this thread, I'd like to share a discovery. It turns out that there IS an option for "forgot password," but if you use a PIN instead of a Pattern with a PIN backup then you'll never know. It's squarely centered at the bottom of the screen if you get your pattern wrong too many times and don't decide to use your backup PIN.
Basically, some (I'm going to guess) intern had this bright idea for increasing security... And so what we've wound up with are two neighboring options on the scale of security levels: the PIN option with zero official redundancies, or the Pattern+PIN option with its TWO redundancies. Why the pattern gets more outs than the Mets on any given day, while the PIN is as rigid and unforgiving as a Catholic school matron, I can't begin to fathom. Go figure, huh?
Maybe somebody who's a lot smarter than I am can figure out how to copy that function and incorporate it into the rest of the lock options for future ROMs.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it,
-Zen

Advanced phone protections - Questions about securing your data...

With all the talk of police being able to access your phone, I looked in to the options.
I found I could use the following options....
1) unlock password.
bypassed by: if the police dont have your PIN or unlock pattern, Google can be required to provide your email ID/PW to enable unlock
2) encrypted phone
bypassed by: I am unsure how this can be bypassed. If encryption is turned on, I know it breaks CWM, but is there any way to get by it w/o knowing the PIN? Is there any reset besides a wipe of the phone, which would clear any P.I.I. on the phone, wouldn't it?
3) recovery
bypassed by: if you cant get in to the phone, and choose instead to boot into recovery, you can get access to the phones data, but how much access? If you encrypted your data, will this bypass anything? Will the data still be encrypted.
What I would love to see possible, is a PIN for recovery that is a stand alone item with no way to reset it. I know this mean you would have to ODIN if you every forgot it, but if you are more concerned about protecting your data, than data loss, this would be a non-issue, as long as your data is protected
So, is the recovery lock even needed? does encrypting your data and your SD card get the protection needed to prevent access to your phone by authorities, even with Google's help?
I would love to see some security and developers views on this, and on how "safe" you can make your phone if you go all out.
No ideas anyone?

what would kind of be an example of what your trying to hide from the cops? there is an app or a couple apps that can literally hide your data, and unless they knew the back door functionality of the apps, they would be able to access much data. i use a couple of them.

It was less about hiding specific data, and more about locking down your phone in general, as in what was possible.
I was interested in how well it could be done, what would need to be put in place, and how secure it really was.

Google Syncing Issues, Plz Help!!!

Hey guys,
I would like to start by apoligizing if there is a thread relating to this issue, but i have searched the forums and couldn't find a solution. The problems i am having is that Google just will not sync on my phone ATT Galaxy S3. I lost all contacts, google play, and google talk. nothing is working anymore.
Recently i tried to install "freedom" on the phone to get free in app purchases. then installed localepicker. now removed the locale picker and the freedom app and i am not sure if this is what caused the problem.
I dont know alot about all this rooting and flashing and stuff like that... i rooted the phone a very simple way from this website just to get game gaurdian on the phone to mess around with games.
So if anybody could helo with my problem thta would be excellent.
Thank you very Much.

When you go in settings and add account, do you get an error? Also, do you set it to manually sync or automatic?
Did it randomly stop or it was after flashing?

Can not establish a reliable connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues Call Customer Servic .
Thats is the message that I keep getting. And i noticed it this morning after I deleted all that freedom/locale pocket stuff. The Internet still works, it's just it refuses to sync the Google account.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

When you look at your signal, is it grey? When it is colored (blue most of the time), then it's connecting with Google, if grey, it's not.
I did a little google search (can go a long way ) and found a few solutions:
1- Just restart the phone without the SIM card, and connect to some WiFi network, so you can login to your Google Account. It will log you into the account, and then you can put the SIM card back.
2- Add YouTube app and login with gmail account
Go into Gmail App and add account if needed.
Sign into Gmail account wither username and password
Go through login process
3- Hard reset your phone. You will lose all information that is currently on your phone when you do this.
Select Settings -> Security -> Factory Data Reset
Once the phone reboots, input your google account information when the phone asks for it.

Tried step #1 and #2. None of these work. Just a quick question before Itry step #3 . Will it cause to brick my phone? The only reason I am asking is because the phone is rooted, by one of the methods on this site. That is my only worry, will anything happen if I do it that way or doni have to go threw Odin and that whole process again? Once again thanks for the help.

Still experiencing the same problems. same error message. its like its blocking my phone from syncing. Maybe i deleted a file. I think the best bet would be to flash a whole new ROM or reboot the whole phone, and make it a fresh one.

Do a backup and go back to stock. See if it works there. If not, it's a problem with your carrier, maybe even your sim card.

HOLY COW!!! I found the solution....
So there is a separate password generated for you android phone other than you gmail password. Here is where you find it, or create it:
Log into gmail account on your pc
follow this link:
https://accounts.google.com/IssuedAuthSubTokens#accesscodes
If you see a password next to "Gmail Phone"- Revoke it
Then in the "Step 1 of 2: Generate new application-specific password" box, type in "gmail phone" and click the "generate password"
Type (in your phone) the obnoxiously long password generated along with your username (without @gmail.com worked for me)
Voila, agony is over. Pass this along if it worked for you, save someone the frustration and anger. Happy Days.

The easiest way is to just call your phone and then you have to answer, go out with the "Back"button on the main screen. Go to settings and turn off the pattern and it will no longer be blocked. Worked for me.

[HELP] Fingerprint Scanner and Backup Password no longer recognized.

It seems that about 15 minutes ago my Fingerprint (and my fiance) are no longer recognized. It also would not take my backup password. The only way I could get into my phone was through the Android Device Manager and reset my password.
After resetting my password with ADM, I went to go change my fingerprint in my phone (because obviously it doesn't like the one stored in there now) and it asks me for my password (since my fingerprint no longer works) and this keeps saying it is incorrect.
I don't know what to do now other than factory reset my phone.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
You're correct. Factory reset; unless...
I thought my original fingerprints were better recognized after flashing another ROM; broke the sensor and default fingerprint password. Not accustomed to internal memory, I wiped everything but external sdcard and tried to restore the nandroid; embarrassing to say, the nandroid was gone.
You might try restoring a nandroid. Don't know if that works but I'd like to know. I had to factory reset. Per Samsung, nothing to do but that. May be locked away in Knox for theft protection.

Thing is, I haven't even rooted my note 4 yet! I am waiting for a method that wont trip knox.
I don't understand why this could have happened on stock - Makes me worried I got a defective device.
That's a mystery to me. There is also a change fingerprint password in that setup screen. If it rejects that too, factory reset is the only option I know of.
May need to exchange the phone. Keep that in mind if you're inside of 14 days of purchase agreement.

Still under warranty. It's just they may make you wait on the replacement. Depends on where you got it.
best route is to get a replacement, seems the device is corrupted somehow

Yep happened to me as well.
Interesting thing is the password works on the lock screen but not in the settings menu.
Odd.
I had this same problem. The only way I was able to get the finger print scanner working again was by doing a factory reset. I then restored all of my apps and settings with Titanium Backup. All is good now. It sucks setting everything back up, but factory reset works.
Hello everybody,
I have xposed framework installed on my rooted Note 4. I basically uninstalled xposed and my fingerprint scanner recognised me again. I then reinstalled xposed and it was still working.
If you're not rooted this won't work for you but can someone with a rooted phone try installing xposed framework and see if it fixes it for you?
Thanks!:good:
I have the same incidence after restoring a nandroid backup to downgrade from LOLLIPOP to KITKAT, I've tried installing Xposed Framework Without Sucess.
I was able to unlock the screen using the google account and afterwards removing the lock screen by fingerprint.
When I try to change the FingerPrint asks me for the password for securty account and doesn't work (in locked screen worked fine).
So I'm afraid I'll have to do a full restore if there's no any other way to reconfigure the fingerprint scanner

If that nandroid backup is NIE, you'll need to wipe and Odin NK2. If it's NK2, try just wiping all user data to fix the finger print scanner. Password is not recognized is the indication that suggests one of the two solutions.
Installing Xposed won't fix that but temporarily uninstalling and clearing various apps' user data has helped. Personally, I've seen that work on health services and s health. If you need Xposed, you'll need the secure storage module. Just search secure or secure storage in the Xposed download search engine.
Locked out or private mode fingerprint and backup password don't work
So I'm locked out of private mode fingerprint and backup password don't work so I was wondering if I were to clear my credentials by encryptin device will it reset my backup password so I can access private mode or is there away i can backup my pravite mode files even tho I can't access them so i can do factory reset if that will fix it so i can use and access private mode with my files also can i find my private mode/ hidden files in my files on my note 4

Have similar issue after flashing a Tekxodus URV6.6 .. restoring data from a nandroid backup from Texodus URV6.5 which had all my apps installed.

Btw, this Dual MicroSD reader is the best $10 i spent in my life it comes in handy once you pop a 64GB MicroSD in it, to use in TWRP for Nandroid backup, or to store a backup of Titanium Backups.

[Q] security problem, can not remove the Pin/pattern/password protection

Hi fellows,
So i bought that S810 beast and i am fully enjoying it
Only one of a sudden, i found a bug which i thought it might not be that annoying, but it turned out to be freaking me out
I can not remove the lockscreen protection back to the normal slide lockscreen for an unknown reason that i failed to discover.
It says,
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage
Click to collapse
I have nothing in the administrators, my internal storage is not encrypted and i haven't touched that credential thing!
So i guess that the only way out is to "clear the credential storage"
Now the question is, is there any way out of this problem rather than factory reseting the phone or clearing the credentials?? If not, then can anybody tell me what are the side effects of deleting the credential certificates ? AFAIK it affects VPN stuff, which i never used on my phone and i am sure i won't use it! Are there any other side effects?
P.S. I am not rooted no need to void my warranty, yet
Thank You!

You could also reboot into safe mode, see if that solves the problem (which would indicate that an installed app is the source). To go into safe mode, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears and the touch & hold 'power off' until prompted to reboot into safe mode.

No luck
Should i just clear the credential certificates ?? What are the side effects??

Hi fellows,
So i bought that S810 beast and i am fully enjoying it
Only one of a sudden, i found a bug which i thought it might not be that annoying, but it turned out to be freaking me out
I can not remove the lockscreen protection back to the normal slide lockscreen for an unknown reason that i failed to discover.
It says,
I have nothing in the administrators, my internal storage is not encrypted and i haven't touched that credential thing!
Thank You!

Navigate to /data/system/password or gesture (Pattern) and delete that entry depending on what type of password you have, reboot done.
If you are unable to get into the phone you will be able to do this using the file manager within TWRP.
PS: Not 100% if it'll fix the isse due to an app locking down the phone but it certainly removes the pin / pattern or password from your phone, so should work.

Ah i see, sorry mate, then no you need root access to be able to see lower level files.
In all fairness, I would say to back up your data and flash another ruu / rom, or even factory reset the device and be careful what you install, I'm assuming that it's something to do with an app you have installed or an email which needs to lock down your device.
I would do that, back up, wipe and go lightly with the installing of apps until you find the culprit, if that doesn't work then I would flash another RUU.
But I imagine it will.

Ohh, then i need some free time
Thanks for the help
As a workaround, i used smart lock
I set up home as trusted place and turned on body detection
Sweet! Password when needed only

Nice one.
click thanks instead of saying it fella Glad you're back up and running.
Actually it turned out to be even better with Smart Lock options like trusted devices "when connected to my bluetooth speakers/handsfree" and trusted place "put my home address here" and also turned on the "body detection"
In this way i am prompted to type my PIN only when needed :good:
Thanks for the help guys
