I just purchased this and after removing it I noticed on the bottom of my nexus 7 on the bottom left of each speaker grill there is an indent, and in the bottom of the folio case is a matching indent that seems to be what caused it. Anyone else experience anything like this or could it be a manufacturing defect? I tried getting a picture but it was very difficult to show up on my camera.

I have this case and it seems the bottom left hand corner clip doesn't hold very well around the edge of the xoom. The right clip stays on very well even with some pressure applied, however the left clip will slip off the xoom at the slightest of pressure. Has anyone else experienced this? I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me.
I took my Xoom to Verizon and we tried at least three different folio cases and the same exact thing happens. Even their demo Xoom did the same thing. The lady said that the folio case had a 12 month warranty so she ordered the new leather folio and had it shipped to my house via next day, and asked me to bring my old folio back in after i receive it.
I hope this leather one is better.
Are you talking about the original folio case or the leather one? I have no problems what so ever on mine. The bottom corners are supposed to let go so you can use the stand part?
Is this the official Motorola one? If so then yes I am having the same problem but I can fix it with a lot of pressure.

i am having the very opposite effect... mine hold very tight... i almost have to yank it loose... purchased mine on the very first day i wonder if you have a different version, or maybe i got lucky... i guess that is how you could look at it... i find it a pain, but i would find it a bigger pain if it was loose like you say yours is.
leather case here. it holds well enough, no complaints. not tight, not loose.
I have been through two of the original folio cases, they have the exact same problem. Going to get the leather one instead.

I've got the leather folio and the top clips are flawless, always the right fit with no issues.
The bottom left has gotten loose, whereas the right seems to be just right.
YMMV, I frequently "go naked" and the repeated in/out of the Xoom on this case may have causes it loosen up a bit.
My case is the exact same. But since some people have trouble getting their case to pop loose, I consider it a "feature."

got the kevikev carbon fiber case yesterday great case
I saw one of these mesh style cases for the Galaxy Nexus floating around so I found a vendor on eBay. I ordered the black and white one.
My main reason for buying a mesh case is because of how warm the phone gets. I'm sure it's operating within safe temperature ranges but it's more of a personal preference to have my electronics running cooler. I've removed the back cover to help me achieve "air cooling". The battery moves a bit without the back plate but that's easily fixed with some paper.
What I like most about the case is that it has a lip for the screen. I can place it screen down and not worry about it touching the table.

I've had mine for almost a month now and have not noticed the sound. If I flex it on diagonal corners I can make it creak but under normal use I don't notice it.
Yes I have noticed it. For a moment I thought the tablet was creaking!! Unfortunately, there is no case that will protect the tab and yet maintain a slim profile The book case is good looking but I don't feel it safe...

No I haven't noticed any sounds coming from mine.
I get the cracking noises too, I don't mind though, it only makes noises if I pinch the corners. Most of the time I have it resting on a flat surface when using whether it is for writing or browsing, never makes noises in this position.
I too use it mainly because of the slim profile. When transporting in my bag, it is protected by a Zero shock case.
mine does also
Samsungs book cover cases are totally unsafe I had it for my old tab 10.1 and after 6 monthes of use it scratched the corners and the plastic rectangle (where the camera is in the middle of) badly ,the cracking sound means it does friction with the corners and it's scratching it with time , I won't use it with my new note 10.1 but if you already bought it you can modify the plastic corners with soft cloth. To prevent it from scratching the tab

Im a little disappointed considering i wasnt expecting the noise or the lack of angle the book cover provides. I was using a modified targus for the acer a500 and while it was loose it had good angles. I love the look of this but know the sides of the tablet arent protected and cover isnt magnetic so no real protectionof the screen. Kind of disappointing considering what other users said about it. Im considering selling it. Also i noticed there are two different versions - a us version and international version.
I have the white one and have no creaks or cracking sounds at all, I can even hold with a corner..no noise. Even though I am sure that this case doesn't offer top of the line protection, I really love the sleek look and love being able to fold the cover back to use with no bulk. Sorry to hear that you are disappointed with yours, hope you can sell it and get another case. The only thing I don't like about mine was not having a closure but I just used a large rubber band type thing that I found in a craft store and it solved my only dislike! Everyone has their preference but personally I would have a hard time liking another case that was bulkier after having the book cover.
Just wanted to add that I was looking for a case that offered a little protection but kept the slim profile of the tablet, the Book Cover case would not be a case I would recommend if someone needs more than moderate protection.
How can you tell the difference between a official book cover case and a chinese knock off

For the money charged, this is pretty disappointing! I am a heavy user and walk around a lot with this beast in my hand. The case does not afford any protection. Looks like it's a trade off between a slim profile and protection. Unfortunately, the accessory industry only caters to the brainless iCrowd! Sigh! It will have to be a Noreve or Zenus for me.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Book Cover looks good but it's not that useful and not protective at all. first time i saw that i though it's usefull and safe and i bought one but i'm disappointed that isn't what i expected :crying:
I just recently bought the poetic slimline case and as much as I love it, the magnetic field created by the magnets in the case is 500ut which the Android Sensor Box app is showing anything over 150ut is bad . Will this cause long term effects on the hardware with that strong of a field? I have no idea about any of this other than strong magnets are bad on any electronics. I just want to know if anyone who has used this case for a while if they have noticed any problems with their device? Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Edit: I did a little digging and i found some good stuff. First off a field of 500uT or 0.0005T is about the strength of an ordinary fridge magnet. Tech these days need to be within about 1.25T or 1350000uT (the strength of a magnet inside of an HDD) for any damage to occur. So I guess we can rest assured that the only things these magnets will do is confuse the sensor. Im sure no magnets in any case are that strong so I wouldn't worry about it anymore. Thanks everyone for the help!
I guess no one has had any issues then? Thanks for everything
I got the moko ultra slim and it's beautiful

I have been wondering this aswell.
If the magnetic fields created by the magnets would cause screen issues.
I have an Asus VersaSleeve for my Nexus and it has magnets...
I am noticing screen sensitivity issues when my tablet is laying flat and resting on the folded up cover... Hmm... Guess I'll take it off and if they go away it's the magnets.
If I hold the tablet in my hand there are no issues even with the cover on

The magnet shouldn't cause any problems.
Jfriend, the problem you ate experiencing is a problem with the touchscreen itself. There's a thread on it somewhere around here.
I'm using one of those Poetic cases with no issues.
The Google Play Store is also selling their Folio cases for the Nexus 7
with the Wake / Sleep feature.
They probably wouldn't be selling it if they thought the magnets would be a problem.

I would agree with you but with the 2013 nexus they moved it to the lower left side of the device. Its on the opposite side of the battery. The magnet inside the device doesn't even get picked up by the sensor so its placed in a spot where it wont do any harm. The issue I'm talking about are the 2 magnets that hold the case shut. I dont see any on the official folio. They are strong magnets and they work well for their purpose. Im just curious what kind of effects this has on the device long term. I guess ill find out eventually if its harmful lol.
I've also been using a pouch with a strong magnetic closure on my cellphones for the past few years. Never had any problems.

I've been experiencing exactly the same thing. I also have a case with magnetic parts on it, it's a blue-tooth keyboard case and there are 4 small magnets that hold the keyboard in place and 1 on the back that hold the stand in place.
When I have the tablet flat or on the stand I quite often have problems with touchscreen response, however if i pick the tablet up and hold it vertically it's fine. I am as yet undecided if it is the case or the tablet itself. I have heard of screen issues with the N7. but primarily the issues seem to be multitouch and ghost touch related.
I did have a case for my Galaxy Note that has a strong magnetic clasp and that did effect the screen, once I dumped the case for a non magnetic one it was fine.
It stands to reason that magnetic fields will effect electronic devices given their operation and the fact that any electrical current creates a magnetic field and two opposing fields... well we've all done the reverse poles trick with magnets haven't we.
Just got a Nexus 7 and a Poetic Slimline case for Christmas.
I don't know about long term issues, but I do know it does affect the functionality of some apps. SkEye is nearly unusable with the case on.
Fellow Nexus 5x users. After having read many complaints about creaking Nexus 5x devices I found a perfect remedy. But let me explain first: When you remove the back cover it becomes pretty obvious that creaking is caused by the battery which is located slightly lower than the rest of the device resulting in a milimeter of empty space between. Thus when pressing/picking up the phone, air is circulating through the back and it creaks at the sides. Simply do the following: remove the back cover (quite easy with a guitar pick, also see ifixit) and put a thin (0,5mm) piece of foam between the battery and the back cover. You will be pleased how much more premium and solid your device feels. Let me know what you think about that method.

Thanks. Will definitely try it and post my thoughts

No long term experience but after I slipped foam between the battery and the back cover my Nexus dies not creak any longer!! Thank you

Insulating foam near the battery doesn't seem like the best idea TBH.

I used small electric tape. I made a lot of small square ones on all corners and middle, they are very small. This didn't alleviate the creaking without a case, but it did alleviate it with one on. Phone feels extremely solid now, i'm just mad i had to do this in the first place.
I know something that would have been great to fill up that 1mm gap. A battery that is 1mm thicker. LOL. A bigger battery and no creaking.
