[Q] Sim unlock neded? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Just a quick question. I am planning on traveling abroad next year and wanted to take my S3 and use another carriers sim. I am currently running TASK650 on it and the only info I have found pertains to stock ROM's and the network lock information that they contain. Is it safe to assume that I can use any other GSM carriers sim in my phone since I am running AOKP? Any help is appreciated.

If you're phone is unlocked you can use any SIM no matter what rom but you do unlock the phone either the 4.1.1 method or buying one

Perfect, thanks for the info. Looks like I'll have to downgrade and unlock.

I747m confusion

Hello, i want to by Bell i747m and im wonder if it will work on European networks and can I install ROMs intended for normal i747?
help if you can
You can unlock your phone to work in Europe, you would need a different providers sim card in order to unlock as well. Some ROMs may work but are not guaranteed.

Sim unlock

I am trying to unlock my sim so I can use simple mobile. Right now I have the latest AOKP on my phone. I also don't have any sim card in it yet. I tried to unlock using *#197328640# but it won't do anything. Do I have to Odin back to stock for it to work? Or is there another way to unlock the sim?

I just did some reading and I see that it has to be stock tw ROM in order for that to work.

If its a sgh-T999 it doesn't have to be unlocked to be used on simple mobile

unlocking a Galaxy s3 without a sim card
Hi, I just got a tmobile Galaxy s3 since my friend upgraded to an iPhone, however I have service with Virgin Mobile. I've read about unlocking phones to work with different carriers and I'm hoping there's a way to unlock this tmobile phone so i can use it with Virgin Mobile. Virgin Mobile as far as i know doesn't use sim cards. Will i be able to make the switch?

[Q] s3 downgrade help needed

I recently acquired a t-mobile galaxy S3 (t999l)running stock 4.1.2, however my current provider is metropcs and in order to use it i have to unlock it. I currently dont have the money to pay for that so i want to downgrade it to 4.1.1 to do it for free. I was wondering how i could go about downgrading step by step. I would also like to have it rooted.
There is no 4.1.1 for t-999l.. And you don't need to unlock T-Mobile phones to use them with metroPCS.. I know because I've worked for metroPCS.. In other words, you're good to go!!

I tried putting my already activated metropcs sim card in and it asked for sim unlock code. Is there anything I can do to resolve that.

What phone did you have before? Was it cdma or gsm? It shouldn't ask for one.. also is your area using cdma or gsm network?

[Q] Will T889V work on Rogers in Canada?

Hello Everyone
I have a newb question so please dont judge
I have an unlocked and rooted T889V which i got from Wind Mobile. I have decided to gift it to my wife
as she is fed up with her little S3 mini and the crappy camera. She is currently with Rogers however she
does not have data or plan on using the internet. She will be sticking to Wifi as she either uses it home or at work.
Will this phone work with Rogers to make calls and send text messages or do i need to flash a different modem?
Thanks!
Yes, but the phone will need to be unlocked.

Just unlock it. Insert Rogers SIM. Done.
No need to bother with enabling LTE since she won't be using data on it.
Although I am *very* curious to know if the (upcoming official) 4.3 update activates it since Vidéotron should be flipping the switch on their own LTE deploy soon-ish.

Yup its already unlocked she just needs to buy a micro sim card cause hers is the regular big one. Thanks for the help guys.

[Q] Can the ATT model be flashed and turned into an unlocked version?

Sorry, I am a noob.
I am being offered the AT&T model for a very good price (about $200 less than the unlocked model). The issue is - I would like to:
1. run the non-bloat version
2. use it overseas.
So my question is - is this even possible with root and ROM? Or is there a hardware differance?
Thank you!!
Sorry but no. there is a temporary root but not possible to flash different rom yet.
Why not just pay for an unlock code from an unlocking service online? I've seen several people on here comparing the services.

They are 2 different things.
I know the difference between bootloaders being locked, and a phone being Sim locked. He said he wanted to use it overseas. All that requires is removing the Sim lock so that any Sim card would work in it. Purchase a code. Done.
