Nexus 7 MHL adapter or adapter like that. - Nexus 7 (2013) Accessories

Hi, I am looking for a device that can put whatever is on my Nexus screen to my TV. I have tried a rocket fish MHL adapter, but it did not work. If you know of anything that will do the job for a Nexus 7 2013, please let me know!

The nexus 7 2013 uses slimport, not MHL. They can be found on amazon, ebay, etc.

I noticed the Slimport goes from in USB to HDMI female. Would I have to buy a HDMI male to male adapter then too?

Just a regular HDMI cable will be fine. The female HDMI on a Slimport lets you use a cable as short or as long as you require.

Power Monkey

Hi all,
Noticed that my power monkey doesn't charge my nexus anymore.
Is this to do with needing more oomph so to speak?
Cheers

Same issue. I've emailed PowerMonkey support - it's a bit puzzling because the USB spec only calls for 5V and 900mA and the powermonkey classic is rated to output up to 5.5V and 1.2A.
Is your powermonkey charger also the classic version?
Yes, it's the classic version.
They've now suggested using the female usb tip and the normal usb cable to see if that works. Will try it later but I know the micro usb tip isn't faulty as it works on other mobiles.

Micro USB to HDMI® MHL Adapter for $6.80+Shipping

It's been posted in a couple other forums but I don't see it anywhere here and thought people might be interested. I ordered two.

I have one ans cannot get it to work . Are u sure HDMI out is supported?

Well there goes twenty bucks! I bought two of them and two HDMI cables.
It does work, did you hook up a charge cable? MHL won't supply power unless your TV supports the standard.

Mine arrived today, works great.
Just received mine. I had to mess with the overscan settings on the tv to get rid of the black bars but it works well.

How is the HDMI output? does it work?

I am about to buy this but want to make sure HDMI out works. Has anyone tested it out? Does it need a special cord besides the micro HDMI cord? Any answer would be much appreciated.
Thanks
No

Remember, you need a Slimport HDMI adaptor or cable, not an MHL or micro HDMI lead.
I have tested it and it does work. As previously mentioned, you do need a Slimport HDMI Adapter.

Thanks. Are there better slimport adapters than others. Do you reccomend a particular one?
I bought the one from Analogix. I believe they were the original manufacturers of them. There are now a few others on the market, but I've read varying reports on the quality of those.

Connecting a PS3 controller?

So I am wanting to link my ps3 controller to my S3 to do some gaming action...
I understand you need a OTG cable, but then I noticed the gameklip comes with this spiffy mini to micro cable. My question is, could I just buy a mini to micro cable on ebay and it work? Or does a OTG cable have some sort of special micro controller in it?
Normal mini to micro cable is not usb otg cable. I tried mini to micro cable for usb drive, it won't work.
I never dissect my own otg cable, so i dunno if there's a micro controller inside
If you're rooted then you don't need a cable, just Bluetooth.
Read my thread in my signature. That should get you started

You still need the cable for first pairing don't you? At least that was when I played around with it.
I just bought a USB PS3 to micro wire and it worked just fine, paid 50 cents over here.

Any old mini USB will do for the pairing.. I think I used my old BlackBerry one.

How to play games in TV?

Hi,
I have mhl cable
I have HDMI cable.
I have LG LED HDTV
I connected the mhl cable to my s4 and connected HDMI cable to the mhl port. I switched on TV and selected the HDMI as the input but nothing is coming up on my TV screen.
In my knowledge, using mhl cable or adaptor I should be able to share my screen on my TV.
Any idea why it's not working as intended. Also is there is any way to play games on to my TV from my phone?
Your help is much appreciated.

Which MHL cable/adapter are you using? There are a lot of knockoffs and cheap-O brands.

You need the new mhl 2.0 adapter. The s3 started with the new adapter and the one for the s2 won't work anymore

Try The Samsung Brand
Samsung Makes a MHL to HDMI OTG style converter, I got one from amazon and it works for me, They tend to be a little bit more money compared to other though
Thanks All for your replies. that makes sense.
i will try to buy one, any recommendations apart from the Samsung brand?
