My LG Optimus G Pro (E980 AT&T) will not flash 4.3 roms correctly. I tried using gprorecovery, then ROM Manager App to no avail (both installed from fresh Stock roms, but both gave me status 7 or simply wouldn't install the custom ROMS). Freegee CWM finally worked, and I am able to install 4.4.x roms (SlimKAT and Carbon are the two I've tried, but they are pretty much featureless at this point in time). I tried to install SlimBean 4.3, PAC ROM 4.3, and Carbon 4.3, and they'd all freeze at first boot (PAC ROM specifically gave me the Insert Coin Game Over screen). I am installing these ROMS on fresh flashes of the LGE980AT-01-V10k-310-410-JUN-07-2013.tot (Android 4.1.2) with the LGE980_20130314_LGFLASHv151.dll file. Now, may I ask, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?!?!?! This is so irritating!!! Any suggestions?
Alright dude, just kill me now. I tried TWRP using Freegee and it worked. Sorry for wasting your time!

it's supposed to do that :good: you probably just didn't wait long enough. the first boot after flashing a new rom takes some time

They definitely were corrupted installs. When I used TWRP, the first boot didn't take long at all, not to mention the 4.4 ROMs I installed didn't take too long, either, though that could be contributed to the fact that they had almost none of the acclaimed features the ROMs were known for.

Hey guys i have a samsung i747 from rogers and i'm trying to install custom roms. I've obviously rooted it and installed CM recovery and downloaded roms and gapps. So far i've tried liquidsmooth 2.8. Avatar Rom. Cyanogen. but nothing seems to be working. Every single one of the them keeps telling me that my setup wizard had crashed and my gapps weren't working. I earlier had a Status 7 error installing cyano and avatar so i flashed d2att's 07.05.13 kernel, but that didn't seem to help. I tried running a different version of the clockworkmod recovery too. I've hardly ever "dirty" flashed. Someone help me out here i hate custom roms!!!
Wipe
Data
Cache
Delvik Cache
and Factory Reset.
Make sure you're flashing the correct GApps for android 4.2.x
Flashing a kernel has nothing to do with a status 7 error.
A status 7 error points to a outdated recovery or bootloader.
You should get ANY errors.
If you hate flashing why do it??
I honestly don't get that...
If you're here to make your phone to look "cool" you're in the wrong place.

I would get TWRP recovery.. wipe dalvik / factory reset. and re-flash your rom.. I'm on Rogers as well and the status 7 error means that your recovery / bootloader is outdated.
So start by getting the most recent TWRP. I got it from goo.
btw: if you don't like custom rom, i suggest going to the sammobile site and getting your factory firmware. Use Odin to reflash back to stock. That should solve your hiatus towards custom roms...

Just a word to say that my E980 got softbricked just after flashing the new [20140920]VUPMP.GPRO.sG3.Stable from datphu2811 ROM .
I did not restore stock rom before flashing. I came from CM 10.2, did wipe every cache and flashed from CWM recovery.
I am trying to recover using these steps now.
Thank you

Follow each step by it's directions and it will get you back for sure. I've softbricked a few times myself and that method got me up and back on my feet again.
If you need any help you are welcome to ask.

Good stuff! If you're in the business of stock ROMs I suggest Bountyman's G3 port, it's really nice if you can get the darn thing to deep sleep. Otherwise if you're looking at CM11 ROMs, Beanstalk, PAC, and Gummy are great choices. Along with the E980 Kernel+

Thanks for the tips. I am looking for the most stable ROM, but yet recent enough. I have been happy with CM 10.2 for 6 months or so, but now I am starting to get problems (battery "leaks", power button not always responding) so I figured that I would check on the latest. I will try the G3 ports as they may be better adapted to the hardware capabilities of the G Pro (e.g.: Quick memo button).
I have seen my error by reading the later posts with the ROM that soft bricked my phone. I needed to select Phil's recovery instead of keeping mine during installation. I'll give another try.
I flashed a couple of ROMs in the past and have become too comfortable. I had no idea that I could brick a phone and yet recover it! Thanks engineers of the world for that last line of defense!
EDIT: Even with Philz recovery and going from the stock ROM, I always soft-brick my phone with datphu2811's ROM. I'll try Bountyman now.

I managed to install TWRP instead and install the ROM (Bounty's) but got other problems with LG's logo screen stuck. Finally, I also got it solved by flashing this modem instead of this one. Both were put in the instructions.
This is by far the most difficult rom installation I have ever made, and I installed quite a few in the past!

Yeah the G3 ROM doesn't like to boot without Mack's kernel, and the modem is nice with deep sleep.
Just a question, what ROMs have you flashed in the past?
Hi Folks,
I flashed Lollipop on to my M7 a while back, and am now looking to go back to Kit Kat. I have tried flashing CM 10 stable, Slim Rom..and one other Rom, with no luck. I boot into recovery, wipe, install...and TWRP just sits there spinning with the install at 0. I then have to restore my nandroid backup in order to use my phone. I have not tried flashing a sense based roms yet. What am I missing here? Any ideas?
Thanks,

What recovery are you using? It's been a while since I flashed anything AOSP but I have had that exact problem recently with sense roms if my recovery version didn't like whatever I was trying to install. I tried nusense with the newest official TWRP at the time and it kept hanging, but it worked after I flashed santod's unofficial TWRP. Then when I tried flashing stock deodex, the same unnoficial one kept choking. So I reverted back to the newest official and it worked fine.
To add a little more to what BranC85 posted. The whole by name partition vs mount point is probably the main problem here. also CM10 is jellybean and not Kit Kat.
if you want cm11 : https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=m7vzw&type=snapshot
if you want cm10: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=m7vzw&type=stable
as for recovery, i would suggest this: http://mdmower.cmphys.com/twrp-m7vzw/
specifically this build: twrp-2.8.6.4-m7univ.img (12 MB) (beta) it seems to work with mount point and by naming.
anyone have link custom rom for m7 802d?
I love this phone but recently switched to a note 3 and love it as well. However, my wife is having problems with her phone and thought it time to factory reset to remedy the problem. However I figured i should put a custom rom on her E980 if I'm going to go through all that, I'd experiment with mine. Wow, what's with installing a custom recovery? I tried numerous ways after spending countless hours yesterday and nothing seemed stable. I had to "tot" back to stock 4.4 numerous times.
Could someone explain the procedure please as after I root how do I install custom recovery and what else I need to install and what order. Also, a good stable rom for my with based off of lollipop.

From my personal experience, easiest 'path' would be to start from stock Jellybean, then to install recovery via Freegee after rooting, and then to update that recovery to latest TWRP (process I'm using for years now).
If you really want to start with KK as base, you should install GPRO_Recovery.apk and install a recovery from there, after you obtain root. After that, update that ancient recovery to TWRP and you're good to go.
For AOSP LP ROMs, you have to choose between 4 available ROMs (there are maybe more, but those mentioned should be updated more frequently) - CyanogenMod, BlissPop, Carbon and SlimLP. There are some builds of Resurrection Remix and AICP but I know nothing about them because I have never used them. Others are pretty much stable for everyday usage and should play nice on your e980s.
Start with one of four ROMs mentioned above and you won't have any troubles/issues.

i can't find anyway to root my phone neither i think if there is any recovery installed in my phone (idk if that's even possible) because it doesn't go to recovery at boot
I am already on stock lollipop for F240L but it have too much blootware.
edit: so it turns out recovery is installed on mobile but in an attempt to root i ran into another error. when the program(root software) it restarts Phone into recovery, i received this error. "NO command" and i cant push updates thorough ADB.
edit2: after pressing random keys it started working but when i try to push update through adb it say
"you need adb 1.0.32 or newer to sideload to this device." any help?

I did it. went back to KK using download mode, rooted and now i will flash new ROM. Thanks.
I've been trying for over a month to get wicked rom installed on my n3 n900t . I'm rooted bootloader unlocked with twrp installed. I've had no issue installing any other rom on this phone I'm currently running alliance 5.0 and resurrection remix 6.0.1 and they work great but I would like to see what wicked is like. ( what it does when trying to install ) OK I have the wicked rom saved to my SD card with 4.4.2 gapps I'll restore my phone to alliance rom which is 4.4.2 and is says in the install it needs to be a 4.4.2 bootloader to install wicked, I'll go into twrp do a full wipe data, delvic, system, wipe it out then install the ROM and gapps package and it'll start to do its thing then get to where it says aramullz xda ( something? ) the progress bar will stop and it'll self boot itself out of twrp and go back to alliance rom and which will be messed up due to doing a full wipe. I like to figure things out on my own that's the fun part but this one's got me. Thanks for any advice.
Did you use terminal or Samsung Phone Info app to verify the bootloader in the phone?
I installed compullsion kernel 4.4.2 before and that failed, tried installing it while flashing the rom and gapps that failed, tried the other older versions of wicked v5 and v4 and v1 they all act exactly the same. I even wiped the whole phone completely cause I got Pissed due to failure ( lol ) flashed a fresh AP in Odin and tried everything again and still failed. I'm in the process of trying to convert the zip file to a tar md5 but having issues that Odin won't except the files cause the ( tar archived ) and I did flash the 4.4.2 bootloader as well. I'm beginning to think wicked doesn't like me.
My bootloader info should be 4.4.2
fastjohnson said:

No still nothing I've tried everything I even wiped the entire phone installed the B4 Odin files AP and BL and CSC then flash chain fires autoroot file and twrp. The phone was basically stock 4.4.2. I tried all 3 wicked zips V1 V4 V5 and they all reacted the same way. And I already grabbed these files from different locations to make sure I didn't possibly get a bad batch. I've got every rom to flash on this no problem. Pacman, RR, alliance, slimroms, any cyan rom, I've come to terms no wicked for me. Lol
Lol, finally got wicked installed via flashfire. Twrp wouldn't do it. Super happy really fast rom.
What versions of twrp did you try? Just curious.
Using the newest 3.0.2 I think. Btw wicked rom so far is the most stable coolest rom I've experienced so far. I forsee it as my daily.
I have seen reports of some people having issues with 3.0 and higher so I stick with 2.87 for my devices.
No I actually didn't catch that. Besides that it refusing to install the wicked rom I haven't seen very many other issues. Well sometimes when im restoring a rom in twrp when it boots itll sometimes not in stall a lot of Google Play stuff and the UI will crash and I'll have to restore it again. I actually like the look and the button placement better in the version your using.
