No. You can flash 4.4 roms from recovery like any other ROM.
You only get Knox if you flash the official 4.3 stock firmware with the bootloader and radio and all that business.

How did you install 4.3 bootloader, did you upgrade from 4.1.2? Can you point me to the instructions for the same?
I'm looking to install clean rom 5.0 with 4.3 bootloader

Why? Did you already flash a 4.3 rom? Just restore a nandroid.
No it is updated officially to 4.3, so has the new bootloader.
So can't reverse the bootloader, but the question is can I install 4.1.2 based rom now?
All I did. Was odin the rooted stock 4.1.2 put on cwm and flashed rom

I was going to say just use Odin to return to stock JB. I found that advice in a thread about this for at&t, but later on the thread a Canadian user said it worked for him.

The bootloader would need a downgrade...and so far....we can't do that.....g

If you flash the official Samsung 4.3 Jellybean MK2 odin flash firmware you cannot go
back to the stock 4.2.2 Jellybean MDL firmware whether you root your phone or not.
Rooting the 4.3 official jellybean odin flash firmware will trip the knox counter unless
you do a lot of reading and find the alternative rooting methods here in xda.

As long as you DON'T update the bootloader to 4.3 you can go back to 4.2. Just flash with recovery. You'll need to update the modem to mk2.

I actually just did mine too a few days ago.
Since you're already rooted, and you havent updated to 4.3, go to this link,

Flash the modem onto your phone.
After you've installed it, you can flash any rom you want from 4.2 to 4.3 and 4.4.
Its as simple as that. I had a hard time figuring out what I had to do, but all you need to do is root, install that modem, and then you can flash all you want.

If you use a custom recovery to flash the ROM and Odin for the modem only, you should be ok to just restore a backup. If you were to take the official 4.4.2 update though, then no; you'd be stuck on 4.4.2 thanks to Knox.

No firmware *.tar.md5 can be flashed with mobile odin.

Are you sure your 4.1.2 has knox? AMAIK it was released with 4.3

Hi, slight miscommunication. My 4.1.2 doesn't have Knox I'm looking to upgrade to 4.4.2. I was just wondering if I could safely use mobile Odin to get there without triggering Knox once I've flashed it.
