I'm currently on 4.4.2 Beastalk and I can't send MMS when i'm connected to wifi? Is there anyway to do this? I read on other forums that you should try to turn on wifi calling instead, but i can't find that option anywhere
Wifi calling is a Tmobile Touchwiz Feature. It doesn't exist on AOSP.

A better question would be how can it be setup to automatically turn wifi off for outbound mms?
Is there any news on this? I'd love to be able to send/receive MMS while on wifi instead of receiving the error message.
You could use Tasker to turn wifi off and on when you send the message.

What about to receive a message?
You may be able to set a context for that as well. Tasker is extremely powerful. I'm just not sure as I haven't tried to set contexts for that kind of trigger.

So if you have a T-Mobile G2, you should know that we have wifi calling, which is a great thing, but I would like to know if there's a way I can text using the wifi. I've looked around and the only suggestion is using Google Voice, and I do, but it's just inconvenient to give all my friends a 2nd number to text to.
Thanks!

Don't texts go though wifi if you're using wifi calling? I think they do, thus no need for a separate app.

You still use your plans minutes and texts on wifi..so what is the point in "texting in wifi"? They don't charge data for texting/mms

The point is, access when there's no coverage. I have no signal at work and barely 1 bar (EDGE only) outside of my work so I have to run on WiFi

Are you using the stock messaging app or something different? Might not work with a 3rd party app without some tweaking

If it were't for wifi calling, texting and calling from home would be an exercise in futility. So, I know it works.

Hmm... I didn't think using a 3rd party app would affect it, I'll be sure to try that later

I too can also vouch that with the stock and aftermarket SMS apps that text messages go though with WIFI calling enabled. I have 0 signal at my house.
Maybe try turning off your gsm radio to see if that works. Just a thought.
Not sure if you're interested, but I use an app called Textfree which sends texts through wifi to your recipient. It gives you a Textfree number which is a US number. Being Canadian, this really helps with having american friends because they don't have to text internationally and I can text using my Data or WiFi.
Give it a try!
yup mms and sms work wile wafi calling is enable ...i used 3rd paty messenger (handcent)

Pretty sure you need mobile data on any phone to receive or send picture messages

It seems like it. I was never able to get that to work while on wifi-calling only - although there are other services you could use to accomplish the same goal.

SMS and MMS are always sent over the cell connection.
I get SMS/MMS over WiFi calling... I have 0 signal in my home.
I have the Samsung OEM mhl-hdmi adapter, and when I connect it to my TV my mobile network turns off. Like an "x" showing near my bars. Running slesh's 4.3 sts 1.2 odex rom. But I noticed it on jellybomb

I have the same issue using classic rom but I have 3 phones cloned to same number so irt is not really an issue for me.

Yeah I have my number linked up to my note 8.0. But when I don't have my tablet on me, it can be a pain. Not as bad as my old evo 4g, there was no way to keep text or calls in the background when connected to hdmi, interrupted all movies lol

Moved to Q&A.
I believe its the adapter not so much the phone. I have a third party adapter and when I first got it I would lose reception. Now I actually get reception and dont even use wifi to stream movies or shows..
I use to use go SMS as my messaging app, then I was introduced to Hangouts by my brother. Its plain and simple as a messaging app. I have one issue, sometimes my MMS won't download and I will get individual messages from the contact person, saying "cannot download, please press to download message" and when I press it, sometimes it won't download, other times it won't download till a little later or it just won't download at all. Is there any fix to this? Its very frustrating. I redownloaded the app, I even wiped my phone. I put a new ROM on, (was happening on my previous ROM also). My modem is mk4, going to switch to NB4. But is this an app issue or connectivity issue? I always get my regular SMS without a problem. Please help, I'll appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

If you're on WiFi calling then that's why, you need to disable it or disable it every time you get an MMS
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
I get this same issue even with stock messenger. Like Serio said, you need to disable Wifi calling. I just shut Wifi off using the toggle send/receive the MMS then turn it back on.

Only touchwiz ROMs have WiFi calling, so this is not your issue.. Try asking or searching in the ROM thread to see if someone was able to find a solution.. I'm on Google edition ROM and have no issues sending MMS with hangouts while connected to WiFi

Hi my phone has terrible reception in my neighborhood and the data is always on edge until i leave my neighborhood and i group text / send mms and receive mms a lot. When im in my neighborhood sometimes ill get "Couldn't download MMS. Touch to download again. Size : 1KB. Expires: (whatever date)" . I was wondering if there is a way to fix this or is there an app that i can text on using wifi to receive MMS on while using my phone number (not really trying to use texting app that changes it). If you can help or lead me to the right app please do so, thank you!

If you are rooted i believe there is an MMS over WiFi mod floating around
Would you mind helping me find it? I googled mms over wifi mod and it just came up with other threads looking for it.

I'm not sure if its possible with an international ROM, there may be a mod to use hangouts over WiFi calling but I can't say for sure.. Like I said stock SMS should work fine on T-Mobile based ROM

Yeah stock, at first I was using the modded S4 MMS and sending and receiving didn't work over WiFi calling (not surprised!) So I went back and flashed the stock s4 app and sending and receiving worked over WiFi.. That's probably what it is in your case, modded MMS apps have never worked for me over WiFi calling, so you must be using plain stock app
