Complete and utter piece of garbage. What were Google/LG thinking? It's a cheap piece of plastic that provides very minimal protection. For $35 I was expecting silicone or TPU, not cheap, breakable plastic that probably cost pennies to produce. On the upside, Google was gracious enough to take it back without protest. Lesson learned... OEM isn't always better.
Its pricey cuz its OEM. The black one is good. Just a oil magnet. I like mine. Fit is nice. Feel is nice. I don't think its cheap or breakable. Its just doesn't hold up to stains. Unless its black.

Is the material different depending on the color? I got the gray one and found it incredibly flimsy and I couldn't justify spending $35 on something so shoddy. If it were $5, I'd be okay, but for $35 I expect something premium. So back to Google it went.

There are 2 different "official" cases sold on the Play Store in multiple colors.
The Bumper Case & The LG Quickcover; both are OEM cases.

Thank you, yes I was referring to the bumper case. The LG Quickcover never even occured to me.
Not sure what problems you had, but I have the black LG bumper case from the Play store and it has been my favorite case I've ever owned. Minimal protection? Yeah probably, but I'm not in need of having a Defender/Ballistic case or I would have bought something like that instead. It fits well and looks great. No complaints here...
This case has the worst button feel out of any case I've ever used on any phone. Its freaking awful. Not to mention that it adds significant bulk. Wish I hadn't gotten this case.

The case is ok, if you have the black color. Any other color, it's horrible. The color changes quickly. Many say it's because of dirty pockets or the dye of jeans. I wear sweatpants with clean pockets and my red case is getting dark around the edges. Buttons are a little tough but other than its ok. Looking to try the quick cover despite that ugly LG logo on the back.

Yes. Agreed. It's garbage. For $5 I'd consider it acceptable but it's grossly overpriced for the sad case it is. Threw it away - never occurred to me to send it back. Oh well.
Diztronic for just $10 blows it away.

The cutouts for the buttons are fixed, making them very hard to press with the case on.

If everyone who was dissatisfied as I am with the OEM case would send it back, maybe Google would learn their lesson, but what do they care if it ends up in a trash can? The Diztronic case actually looks pretty sweet for $10. Do you have the black or the clear?

I have the matte black Diztronic case for my Nexus 5 as well as my Optimus G and I love them.
The N5's Diztronic case keeps a nice curve on the back of the phone & feels close to the back of the nexus.
It also has a small lip around the screen so you can lay it face down.

I love to see some new cases. What are the differences between these two cases? Why such a big price difference?
impact is rubber ONLY no hard shell plastic OVER rubber shell...
commuter has BOTH rubber and hard shell...
Will the commuter peel away at my screen protector like the gel case since it comes up to the edges like that?

I hope the commuter does not make the phone HUGE. I do love the look of it, but my car mount is almost flushed with the eBay two piece cover. It looks small in the pics. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I don't mind getting either or depending on how they go on the phone. If it a front peace and a back peace that click together no thanks... But if it slides on then thumbs up

the impact is a one piece soft case, thicker for better protection... and the commuter is a two piece soft and hard, its like the tmobile ones they have in the stores but better, wish they had cut outs for the pins though...
I used to own Nexus with case-mate, and although nice the rubber started stretching. I ordered rubber case off ebay with screen, and it's the best one I've had - $ 8.95 with shipping.
I am thinking of getting the Commuter case.

I picked up a perfect TPU case at Verizon for my Xoom Wifi. Just letting you know if you aren't looking for the book style. It was unbranded so I have no clue who makes it. Its thick and fits like a glove. The color matches up perfectly. Its like a tinted smoke. Also comes with a screen protector. It's not great but works. Doesn't cover the entire glass. Just the screen.
It's really glossy and grippy. Smooth and doesn't attract lint. Looks great and doesn't detract from the sleekness of the xoom.
Its not on their site. I just walked into my local Verizon and asked to see all their xoom cases. Got sick of buying cases from the web to receive them and find that they suck.

It was more than I expected, 35 bucks with tax I think, but the fact is that it's really nice. Words to describe this case are: Rigid, smooth, grippy, classy.
those black silicon cases are no good. They are all floppy and collect lint. TPU cases are where it's at.
The guys working at the Verizon store I went too were pretty lame. I asked if they had xoom cases. One dude said no, then another guy said yes and sends mr. no over to this cabinet. They weren't on display at all. He opens the cabinet and I had to tell him which one was made for the xoom. He didn't even know what a xoom was. It was wierd. At any rate, they had a folding book style, then this TPU case.
Since I had no luck buying them from Amazon, even after reading good reviews I went on a mission to find one locally. This is the only case I'll ever need for this thing.

Like many of us, after buying the n7 the search for the prefect accessories for it started. In my case it was a search for a screen protector and a case. The screen protector was an easy find because I've been using spigen screen protectors on my devices for several years. Spigen hasn't disappointed. The spigen screen protector is excellent and fulfills my needs.
The next accessory required some trial and error. Do I want a case or a sleeve? I knew that I wanted minimum added bulk. So, I bought a moko ultra slim case and a ceocase leather envelope pouch I found on eBay. I tried the moko for a week. Although it is a good case, I realized that I prefer a naked n7. This led me to buy a dbrand skin. The dbrand skin is simply great. The fit is superb. It adds a touch of color (I got a yellow) and minimizes fingerprints on the back plate. It adds no bulk to the n7.
The ceocase leather pouch is a sleek and simple envelope style pouch that has a magnetic catch. The interior is felt lined making the n7 easy to slide in and out of the pouch. The pouch is well stitched and precision cut. It offers a good good amount of bump and scratch protection.
I am now set. I have essentially a naked n7 that has a decent degree of scratch protection. The n7 lives in a nice leather pouch when it is not being used. I am loving it.

None taken. I was curious and got an opinion from my wife as to whether she thought the leather pouch/wallet was a woman's wallet. She disagreed. She said it was too big and not ornate enough to qualify as one. In fact, she commented that it was reminiscent of a style of travel wallet she has seen by Coach leathers for men. Regardless, the macho side of me finds it is to be simple and quite functional for the N7. I'll let the feminine side of me appreciate the looks.

I've been unsure how exactly I want to cover this thing up. Case, skin, nothing? I'm undecided at this point so I appreciate all of these threads to help steer me in one direction or another.
The Roocase is on sale, looks great. 5 shipped. I bought one. I also have a Moko slim and Portenzo. All sweet cases.
The Portenzo hard book case is expensive but high quality, where the Moko and Roocase are cheap and may last 6 mo. I don't speak experience since they are new to me, but judging by my Poetic last gen.
I'd definitely recommend a slim case with a flap. It just feels more durable and tossable. Also just the ease of just flipping it open and it turning on.
A sleeve is good for travel for luggage but daily usage.

I just received my n5 plus the case and thought I might give my first impression on the " [Non-Slip] SPIGEN Google Nexus 5 Case Slim [Ultra Fit] [Smooth Black] Premium SF Coated Matte Hard Case" available on amazon.
First if all, the case fit perfectly on the phone with no play what so ever. It has an soft smooth feel almost close to the feel of the all black nexus 5. Although it probably won't provide as much protection as a bumper case or all around case it keep the profile of the phone very slim. It holds up very well against finger prints. I probably wouldn't recommend it to a person that drops their phone a lot. I had a ringke slim case on my n4 and never had a problem, even with a few drop my n4 is still in pristine condition.
How does it compare to the ringke? I not sure if the texture of the n5 ringke slim is the same as the n4 but it has a more firmed plastic touch then the spigen. I think it's worth the extra $1 or $2. Spigen also include a screen protector with this case.
At $9.99 on amazon prime it is a steal for the quality.

Pics please... Im waiting on my white one.
OP, did you get the screen protector too? How was it?
Heads up, it's the same price from spigen on eBay and comes with one of their pet screen protectors
The one I ordered through Amazon came with a screen protector. I was surprised because it did not mention anything about that on their page.
Thank you for the pics. Can you tell us what the fit is like? Is it comparable to the Ringke Slim for the N4? (most people on this forum own/owned both products ) Also, how does the build feel - cheap or premium? Thanks again.
The fit is perfect but it was the same on the ringke even after a year it still held on tight and I expect this would be the same quality. As for which feel more premium? I would probably say the spigen has the tiny edge on that because of the softer Matt touch. The difference isn't by much and you can't go wrong with either.
How well would it hold up, I still don't know. But at $10 I'm not loosing much.

Got my N5 and Spigen ultra fit today. Not a fan of it, I should have looked at it more carefully. Don't like how little coverage there is on the top and bottom.
I'm hoping the Chinese company that I bought my TPU case for my N4 on Amazon comes out with a N5 version. I think it was like $.79 with $2 shipping. Best case out of 4-5 I bought for the N4.

I have the white case on my black N5, it looks great. My only concern with this case is that it is sharp on the bottom where I use my pinky to hold the phone. It's nothing some sand paper can't fix. It looks like the Ringke has more rounded edges, which might be more comfortable.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Just throwing my 2 cents in. I would highly recommend against this case. While the overall quality is nice, the top and bottom portions of the case are very sharp. I should not have to take out sand paper and take that off after buying a $10 piece of plastic that probably costs 10 cents to make. Spiegen will be getting a complaint from me.

I agree with this. The case looks really nice and feels high quality but the top and bottom are ridiculously sharp. I like to rest my pinky under my phone when I use it but I can't with this case because it is too painful. Hopefully this will be fixed in a revision.

For what it's worth, I have removed the case and put it back on several time and do not see any scratches. It fits on way too snug for my tastes(it is incredibly difficult to take off) so I was afraid it would mess up my phone. But so far no issues. In fact one of the times I was having real trouble getting it off and I noticed white stuff on the corner of the phone when I finally got it off. It appears that the phone will scratch the case rather than the case scratching the phone.
I am looking for a case like the official bumper case.
Is there anything like that? I want something soft since it obviously offers the most protection during a drop. But the only one I know so far is that Cruzerlite Bugdroid, but that pattern on the back makes it look so cheap, doesn't work with the phone at all. I'd just like something minimalistic like the phone. The official one is great but since it's rather expensive I'm looking for alternatives.
Spigen Neo Hybrid. Looks great and feels good in my hand.
Stay away from the Spigen Silent Armor though. That one has many problems with the power button alignment
We're just gonna have to wait like we did with the Nexus 4 bumper replicas.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have tried the Spigen Neo Hybrid in Champagne Gold. It looks really fantastic, the protection is very solid. It just added a bit too much bulk for my taste and I will receive the bumper case next week to compare it with.
Thanks for the infos on the Spigen ones! I am looking for something more simple though. They feel so overly designed to me, I really would like something completely minimalistic, just like the original case.
@FatalityBoyZahy
I don't know anything about the Nexus 4, so you are saying there will be clones of the official case?

There seems to be a popular consensus around the Diztronic crowd.

They were never as good as the OEM ones though, and I had both with my N4. OEM ftw (albeit very expensive!)

I thinks this one is the original one as it's selling $35 too, the replica one it's only $14 after discount. How's the Ringke Fusion?

Who knows for the Nexus 5 bumper case though. Maybe the replicas will be better given the staining and peeling problems that you hear a bunch about with the OEM bumper case.
Here's an example of the peeling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5oEj4hJsd0

Couldn't agree more with the staining, Got a gray one from Play Store and was stained within a week. Was planning to reorder a black one and now I think I'll wait for reviews of the Shenit version.
I ordered a red one looks like it will be a good month or so before it comes in... I'll give you guys a review when it comes in.

Nexus 5 black bumper case original
Dont buy original, after paying such a handsome amount you will end up with a case which has not a perfect fit, which happened in my case atleast. The lower of the case is not hugging the phone unlike the other sides
