Unable to find old files after updateing to ANY 4.3 Rom - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So the question is... how do i get my old pictures, files, ringtones etc. that was saved on my phone back after updating from 4.1.2 to 4.3? I tried to go to /device/mnt/shell/emulate? I have nothing there. I've looked all over about this... People mentioned it in threads but didn't go into detail on how to bring all that info back. Please help... I really like 4.3 and want to stay on it. THANKS!

Try doing a search for a file in the shell folder.. It took me a while before I was able to find everything too

Is there an option or a setting I have to turn on, on ES? The "shell" folder is empty when I go in it. i cant find the emulatefolder either.

Is root browsing enabled?

Did you factory reset with stock recovery before going to 4.3? That would have wiped out your sd card.

Nope, did not factory reset. Heres the weird part. When I jump back and forth from 4.3 to 4.1.2 the file shows up when I'm on 4.1.2. Are the files searchable? I tried searching for them and they don't even show up when I'm on 4.3.

[Q] Internal SD

I know that when going into 4.2.x at first it gives you the emulated/0 files. But my problem is I can't delete these files... I have made a complete back up and tried to format the internal storage via TWRP, but the /0 files keep coming up, etc. How do I keep it from doing that? I can't seem to find my answer.
Apparently I'm doing something wrong, can anyone help?
No problem here. Just the way 4.2 works.
You will have those folders if you are still on a 4.2 rom. You can only delete them if you go back to 4.1

Oh, I didn't know you had to revert back to 4.1 to delete them. Good ****. Thanks.

Where are my files?

Hello,
I was on Hyperdrive rom, love it, and all my files were there far as Photos, Wallpaper, etc... when I load other roms they are there, but recently I updated my boot loader and now I don't see none of my files. Its like they system got wiped. But when I go to recovery to load another rom I see all my files in the directory, even my rom zip files.
When I pick either "illusions" or "MIUI" I don't see none of my files. Could it be the boot loader that I installed? Do I have load every single photo, wallpaper, and music again? won't it be duplicates if I do?
I'm going to install the "Hyperdrive" rom again, but it gets tiring loading all the apps from the market. But I'll do it just to see if I get the photos and etc....

What rom are you on?

Don't go to /sdcard. Go to /data/media. Then you'll see everything.
Ok, thanks. I'll look for it on there. I was on "illusion" then "miui" rom but I just gave up and switched over to "hyperdrive" there I can see all my files. But I will try again with the other roms.
Here is the thread that Doc was talking about.

If you go back and forth between 4.1.2 and 4.2.x you will have issues like this.

thank you very much. So my best bet is to just stay with 4.2.2 once I make that leap from 4.1.2? I posted a comment on that thread regarding the transfer of files. I just want to be clear. I went back to 4.1.2 and so I'm basically transferring all my files to the "0" directory? You see I have a Mac so I have to have Airdroid, but I can get a HP laptop. So, I transfer all my files then format my ext sd card, then transfer my files back in the "0" directory and that's it? along with my 4.2.2 roms. then do the whole wiping thing to install a new rom?
If you do this before flashing 4.2.2 ypu msy end up with something like this /0/0/
I've seen where some have had 8 or more zero directories! Youll have to read more on that though as I don't know a lot about it.

Can't Find Old Data?

Hello,
I have a rooted S3 running the newest 4.3 Leak. I upgraded in CWM with no problems, and no restore as I was coming from a stock rooted ROM. However, now I can't find my data from there. I look for it on my computer and I can't. I need to get to it cause I have data in those files I need to delete to add more space to my phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Try looking in /storage/sdcard0 or /storage/emulated/legacy

I had the same question but no way to solve either. The legacy and sdcard0 folder are the same. However I can see more folders in recovery than using file explorer or root explorer. Weird.

Put everything in /data/media/0 and you should be able to see it all. Till your next flash anyway...

That makes me think your Root explorer isn't getting Root permissions or hasn't remounted as RW.

Shoulda 're-read your op before, sorry bout that. You won't be able to see your files by plugging into the computer. It'll always be showing you what's in /sdcard/0
You need to get a root file browser, on your phone, and use it to move everything in /data/media to /data/media/0

[Q] {Q}Not able to full wipe

Hey, guys. I'm looking for some help here. I've been having some trouble with a few recent ROMs. I try to do a full wipe and do a fresh install of the new ROM, but I get an error saying something about being unable to read the lost + found file. I think it was deleted somehow because I can't find it. Does anyone know how to get it back? Can I possibly just reinstall a recovery or something? I don't actually know where the file even comes from to begin with.
Bump. Really needing some help.
Have you tried restoring a nandroid back up?? (If any)
At least you can start your search for a solution with a working phone.

I don't have a recent Nandroid backup at the moment. My last one would take me straight from AOSP 4.3.1 all the way back down to TW 4.1.2 and I just don't like that idea. It's caused me complications before.
File explorer?

Have you tried using a file explorer and looked to /data and in there do you happen to see a folder named lost+found? Suggest using ES File Explorer to look through the contents of your phone.

Weird.. Are the contents of each of them the same?? If thats the case then it may have occurred when flashing roms and an not fully wiping.

When I use ES, they are all blank and say 0b in properties. It always has every time I've looked at them, though and ice only recently had the problem.

Did you mount the system. How did you back up it. Using titanium back or any other app.

I remmber seeing Samsung Camera.apk separately on some thread for the phone. You can try searching.. If not unzip and take off the Samsung camera from the Stock and install and make it a system app, Considering some additional files required to make it usable..
