You can do it wirelessly, but you might get some lag(not good for games) using the Allshare Cast Dongle. Otherwise you might look at doing MHL to HDMI and using a PS3/Xbox controller. Not sure of the specifics, but here is a great video explaining all different ways.

Hi
If I use play movies and a slimport adapter them movie is only played on the TV in full screen. No letterboxing or shrinking etc.
If I use MX Player then the image is compressed.
Is there anyway around this without rooting ?
Can Play Movies be used to play local my movies from the inbuilt memory on the TV in full screen ?
When I've tried it opens my default movie player and I have the letterboxing / compression.
Thanks

Thanks I was hoping to use the slimport adapter as this works well but changes the resolution.
In Play Movies the resolution outputted via the slimport to the TV is fine.

There's no way to adjust the Android mirrored resolution without root.
Play Movies handles it buy handling the second display as a seperate workspace rather than mirror.
Other movie apps can make use of this feature, but the developers need to build in the support. Secondary display management has been available to developers since Jellybean 4.2: http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-4.2.html#SecondaryDisplays Root isn't needed to use this feature, but as I said, developers need to code for secondary displays. Otherwise you can only mirror the app, which is a function of the OS. Unfortunately, the only way to manipulate the OS resolution is with root.

Sort of off topic, but you seem knowledgeable about Slimport: can any app be mirrored? thinking of grabbing an adapter just for Nexus 7 + Ps3 controller emulation to the TV.
Thanks!

Yes, everything is mirrored.
Hi there!
I have an old Xperia arc s unused into one of my drawers and a no-smart lcd tv with an hdmi input. I was buying an android hdmi dongle so i would have been able to watch films on my NAS, some videos on youtube and so.
Suddenly i've rembered of that one semi broke (yep, touch screen doesn't work good anymore) smartphone on my drawer with an hdmi out, so i was figuring out what rom should i use (now it have some kind of custom rom with no hdmi support) and if there's something like a unified remote server for android that i can use as a remote.
Thanks in advance!
Hello , I have my GGD a year ago and a SmartTV too. I can stream contents to the TV through Wifi Direct, but only media (vids, pics and audio), but I want to see the screen phone in the TV (looking the maps, games and other apps) just like the Xperia L of my father does. is there any chance of doing that? Or maybe is not possible at all... Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone,
"Play to" share only the photo and video in gallery. I want to mirror any thing on phone screen to the tv.

We've tried this one w/ LG G3.. Connect both TV and Phone is same Wi-Fi network then open Wi-Di w/ TV. Open Miracast w/ Phone and search w/ TV. From there it got connected and got the screen shared.
I tried with my LG TV (webos 2.0) and it did not connect.
With a ezcast dongle, everything work but netflix, I only get the audio from netflix with no image at all.
