You can not go back after you upgrade.

I need to give my AT&T S3 to my Mom. Is there a way I can have my phone return to stock condition (no root, stock recovery, data wiped) on the 4.3 OTA? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you are already on TW either 4.1.1 or 4.3 then just ODIN back the 4.3 update.

You can only Odin 4.3 on an I747M if you're on AT&T with an I747 there is no .tar.md5 yet thus no Odin and there is no flashing backwards. If you try to overwrite the bootloaders with an older version you get a hard brick. When you try to flash an older firmware let's say 4.0.1 for example it will contain bootloaders, a kernel, a rom and a modem and it will hard brick the phone.
The thread you linked is for a 4.3 leak and runs mj2 bootloaders which is older than his current version of MJB. Also the thread you linked doesn't have any odin flashable files in it. Those are .Zip files flashable through a custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM.
This could have been really bad for someone if they even tried what you linked. Locally it takes 2-4 days and $50.00 to get a phone Jtag'ed.

Hey guys so i have heard that if i install the old firmware for my s4 from sammobile using Odin one from early 2013 that it will give me access to service menu so that i can unlock my phone. So my question is that is it 100% safe to Odin flash the older 4.2.2 rom when i am on 4.3? Can i flash it unlock my phone then upgrade my phone to a custom rom again? Thank you i also am running a custom rom and have philz recovery installed.

If you are on 4.2.2 bootloader then yes, if on 4.3 bootloader then no, but you can try downgrading modems instead.. Also is the ROM you are on aosp/cm or tw based?

If you update to 4.3 by one of the following methods you're out of luck:
-OTA update
-Kies update
-Odin flash the full 4.3 firmware.
Like mentioned above, if you only flashed a 4.3 ROM but keep your MDL(4.2.2) bootloader you can go back.
Faaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkk i did Odin flash the full 4.3 Damnit stupid Samsung why the hell would they block downgrading? Okay so if i did try to Odin flash the older firmware what would happen? I doubt it'll hard brick my phone right i could prob try it if it doesn't work then I'll just Odin flash 4.3

Is it possible to downgrade back to 4.3?
I tried flashing the 4.3 firmware with Odin but it gave a failed message. I also tried flashing a 4.3 ROM but that just sent me into a bootloop. Hado to flash 4.4.2 with Odin to fix that.
I heard it's something about the bootloader that prevents downgrading.
Any ideas?
Not possible atm, maybe sometime later but quite possibly never.

NO, once you have the 4.4 bootloader, you can NOT go back to 4.3 ROM's. At least not yet...
There's some hope downgrading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51844662&postcount=4
I haven't tested it, so you might want to contact him for details.
Hi guys
I have my t999 running the last ota 4.3 (uvuenc2) and want to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501303 who require to run 4.3 uvuemjc modem.
As far as i know downgrading from 4.3 can brick the phone, but if Im downgrading from 4.3 to this previous version of 4.3 I have the same risk of bricking the device?
I already rooted my t999, install custom recovery and disable knox, but when installed uvuemjc modem the phone lost the network signal, so went back to previous modem and dont try to go further until got more info.
Downgrading with custom ROMs won't brick you.. You also don't need to downgrade the modem, leave the modem alone and just flash the ROM

installed and working!!!!
I am looking for a guide to see if its possible to Unroot and go back to Stock 4.3 (M919 Model)
I am not 100% sure if downloading the Original M919UVUEMK2 and running through ODIN will do it. So I am kind of Paranoid on taking further action towards going back to Stock Firmware via ODIN seeing how I have not spotted anything. I've only seen Guides that show how to do it with 4.2, which doesn't the bootloader or something Block Downgrades?
I don't really care about the KNOX Flag, I just wanna go back to stock.
Please and Thankyou!
Odin will work as long as you never updated to the official 4.4.2 firmware

Sweet, so it doesn't matter at all if I'm on a custom 4.4.2 ROM correct?
Otherwise thanks for the tip man!
Nope! Just remember to factory reset after you flash it and back up your files
