[Q] Help please! Can't boot into twrp recovery - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi Experts,
I have a sprint note 2. It has recently upgraded to 4.3 and has never been rooted.
I just installed the twrp recovery 2.6.3.1 using odin v3.09. It's passed in odin with no fail. But when I try to boot into twrp recovery by holding (volume up+home+power), It gets into "android system recovery <3e>" all the time. There was a red triangle with a message says "no command" in the center of the screen with an "error" being briefly displayed.
And some text messages at bottom of the screen:
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code: SPR
Successfully applied multi-CSC
I also tried to boot by holding "volume up + home + power" and let go the "power" when Samsung logo came up. Still the same.
The phone can reboot to stock rom with no problems.
Please help!!!
Thank you so much

If your phone has never been rooted how do you expect to have custom recovery?

Isn't installing the twrp recovery the first step to root? I'm trying to root, so I installed the twrp recovery using odin.

Restart. Odin back to MK4 stock http://www.mediafire.com/download/7viivd985s7cp8l/L900VPUBMK4_L900SPTBMK4_HOME.tar.zip
Use Phillz CWM recovery. You can find it in the development area.
For root on MK4 you don't need a custom recovery. Just use kingoroot after returning to MK4 stock.

As soon as you see 'pass', unplug the phone and take the battery out. But do it quick. Wait 5 seconds, put the battery back and you'll have custom recovery

="3"] My phone's model number is SGH-T999V, and Baseband version is T999VVLLH2. I tried to flash clockmod into my phone by Odin many times. The Odin shows the .tar was successful, but when go to the recovery mode, it's still the initial one. Does someone can help figure it out? Can you list the steps to root t999v in details? I think those are for the original build LE6 though.
Use odin to get your recovery installed but uncheck auto reboot.
When done unplug and hold power untill the screen turns off. Immediately let go of power and then press and hold Power + Volume up + Home. (Be quick)
When you see blue text flash on top of screen release power but keep holding other two until you get into recovery. (You may not have to keep holding home and vol, but its always wirked for me)
Now flash your SuperSU/Superuser and reboot.
Once booted delete/rename these files:
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
This will stop stock recovery from being rewritten.
Now using goo or rom manager reinstall recovery again if you so choose.
Hope that helps.

I have the same issue, can I just flash twrp without unrooting first and just flash using odin on top of my existing root.
I am not sure how a root on an existing root will work. Thanks
I have rooted N1705 and have same problem. I really would like to know what's this all about since this is my first phone with this kind of a problem. Only workaround for me was that i installed ROM Manager, updated CWM and flashed into it via the manager. The key shortcut did not work on either CWM or TWRP.

Flash the stock recovery, or PhilZ, or TWRP, your choice.

I never said you need to unroot.
Just flash the twrp file.

CMW not booting up, after installing with Odin.

In Odin, the status is Pass and completed but for some reason when I try to do a restart to recovery, cmw doesn't boot up, only a black screen shows up. I'm on twrp because that's been working.
Any ideas on why cmw doesn't boot up?
Thanks.

CWM really isn't worth even worrying about; in my opinion, Philz Touch recovery trumps both TWRP and CWM, even though it is based off of CWM. It is more like CWM on steroids, with some TWRP compatibility thrown into the mix. Try it, you won't be disappointed, and you will soon forget about using any other recovery.

help!!! No OS

T-Mobile Galaxy 3 N900T
No OS. TWRP was installed and I thought I had ROM on SD card no. So now I have no OS. I tried the Volume up home on button but just says Galaxy Note 3 and that's yet.
I read some other posts but where do I get recovery image and how do I get to bootloader? via Odin?
How do I recover?
Where did the os go that you was running.you know it is power home and vol up at same time to get into recovery.

If all else fails download the factory image from samobile and flash it in Odin. Will lose everything but phone will be working again.

If you have to ask questions like that it really would be worth reading up on how to do this stuff. Unsure if you can truly brick it but better to be safe than sorry.

You can't really brick this way, although I'd consider it a soft brick. No os is simply that, no os. Uninstall your pc os and everything is still there, all your data is fine (given you keep your os and data separate. I.e partitions, which is android.)
Flash an os and you're fine

CWM nor TWRP will install
I succeeded in getting back to stock. I put the TWRP & CWM installed via Odin (Odin passed) but when I 3 button turn on it boots to the screen that says up volume to install OS and I go into Odin screen.
What gives?

For realizing I'm a moron! Somehow I missed the Vol up part! LOL
Seeing as how I haven't flashed a recovery, I've no reason to attempt recovery. Thought it was still Vol - and power like the s3.
No need to feel like a moron. If anybody should it's me lol

[Q] Bricked note 2 sgh-i317

Okay so i bought a samsung Galaxy note 2 on craigslist(not a good idea) and what the seller told me is that it was unlocked. well i got the phone and put my Tmobile sim card and it worked. i tried to do a system update which i kept getting a reminder for and my phone is now stuck on the opening samsung galaxy note 2 sign. well i took it to the cell phone repair places we have around here and none of them could fix it. apparently the guy rooted the phone to unlock it but the phone doesnt have a custom recovery. it can boot to download mode but thats about it. if anyone knows how to fix this i would greatly appreciate your help.
Not bricked. ..
Boot to recovery using the 3 button combination and factory reset the phone. ..then reboot. .
If the device sticks on the splash screen again. ..you'll need to push a new image via Odin. .
But the phone is far from bricked. ..it's just mad...g

Is the phone stolen? Might have been SIM locked.
I would try flashing a stock ROM onto it via Odin. If that fails you probably bought a HOT phone. Or it has hardware damage.

It was unlocked when I got it... it had a custom rom on it and when I tried to do the update it made the phone do what's it doing now.. so what option am I left with? I already tried stock rom and nothing :/

So you have flashed a custom recovery? I can see that you said it did not have a custom recovery on it (but had a custom ROM?). If you haven't flashed the recovery and have not followed the flash to stock instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275844), then do so (be as specific as possible on the steps you've taken since it seems you might be a beginner at this by trying to update OTA a rooted device).
happened to me too. pull the battery. hold vol up and power and home and then insert battery. Keep holding till the 2nd time it reboots and you see the logo then let go of the buttons. This should put you into recovery. Wipe cache and wipe phone then reboot.
This worked for me, hope it works for you.
Trying to get into recovery mode doesn't work... I am a begginer at this. I tried pulling the battery out and doing the up home and power combo but that does not work.
