yes, but for this you need to flash a custom recovery, your knox flag will become 0x1 and you will lose your warranty

Thanks

custom roms
Yea you can. You could have been using one I'm I been on 4.3 for months now. The official is really for the devs which is who I wait for to make the roms better then the stock upgrades. Have a look around at some you will be mad when you do because stock sucks after using modded roms. You can't custom color stock roms and that's my thing I love themes when it comes to customization.

Regarding Knox, isnt there a way to reset the counter back to original value (think its "0"). Was it triangle away or something. Cant remember correctly.
Whats your view??

Triangle away used to reset the custom binary count and status. KNOX counter is something different. Till now, it can't be reset!

Sammobile says Tmo has started the rollout for 4.1.2 on the sgh-t989 via Kies. I can't find anything on Tmo's site but sammobile has the Odin .tar file up. http://www.hotfile.com/dl/202091699/c92decf/T989UVMC6_T989TMBMC6_TMB.zip.html
*edit*
Now its finally official from T-Mobile.
"Beginning April 8, the Samsung Galaxy S II will have an optional software update to Android version 4.1.2/ Software T989UVMC6 via Samsung Kies only. This update changes the OS to Jelly Bean.
You can update in one way:
Manual download to T989UVMC6 If you want to update to T989UVMC6, you can update via Samsung Kies. Ensure you are on the latest version of Kies prior to attempting the update. See http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ to confirm the version.".
Just installed with Odin. Looks cool. Now I'm late for work.
Would this work on a SGH-T989D (Koodo)?

Try rebooting the PC.
Make sure Kies isn't running.
Lmao.. All of you guys rushing to flash an unrooted stock ROM just to see something we all have already seem in custom ROMs for the last month or more.. Its hilarious. Especially since half of you will now start a thread asking how to root the new update.. Its an awesomely hilarious cycle.
Especially since in less than a day all of the custom twiz ROMs will be updated.. Lol.

I've never actually ran Kies before...Can we update even if we're rooted, different ROM/Recovery? Or do we need to go back to stock?

I think people are just happy to have something that SHOULD be 100% stable. I've found one or two ROMS for 4.1.2 that have been 95% stable, and it's took some massaging on my part to make it work 99%. It'll be interesting to see how Samsung did 4.1.2 on our phones, so I'm down to download. I can rock stock for a little while

Ive been running CM 10.1 and will probably go back to it for the hotspot. I wanted stock for future use if I need it which I will debloat myself. A lot of people like rooted stock over custom roms because most custom roms have bugs and so does CM 10.1. And yes, it seems someone popping into the thread and lol'ing is also part of the humorous cycle.
So no multi window with jelly bean for us? Or is that just for 4.2.2

If you're running rooted stock you can just update and reroot. If you're on a custom rom you'll need to Odin back to stock.

It is what it is I guess.. It's definitely one of the cycles that I've seen countless times, personally I'll just wait till someone comes out with a flashable rooted zip..

The biggest question is, do we finally have Wifi Calling on JB? That's the main reason some of us are even on ICS at all.

P605 - Where do you guys get your custom ROMs?

When we go to development section there's just like 2 threads for custom ROMs for this device. HAL9000 and the 4.3 Stock KNOX free.
And HAL9000 thread is locked.
There are few more options for P600 and P601. So where do you guys get ROMs to try? I just rooted mine recently for added multiwindow apps and 4 window screen. I want to try something different from stock like CM, Jedi, Tweaked, LiquidSmooth, etc (which are all present in snapdragon Note 3) but there are very few to none.
I'm going to search android tablet forums now

Sorry for off topic, but how did you root your P605? I just got my unit last week.
When you rooted yours, does it trigger knox counter? also would you know if All Share Cast still works when you root?
thanks in advance!

I PMed you the link I followed. And yes you will trigger Knox. I dont think you will lose any apps just from rooting the device.

[Q] What is the best most stable rom for my note 2

I run stock rooted 4.12 and I am ready to upgrade my rom but I can not find a stock rooted 4.3 and I do not want plain stock because I hear knox is a nightmare to get out and I run an adblocker on my phone( the main reason I root ) what in your opinions is the most stable user friendly 4.3 rom out there right now or even 4.4 if there are some you would recommended
thank you for your input
There is no best ROM its all a matter of preference. You can always take the ota and root it. I don't know what nightmares you read about but I have never had one. I personally run digiblur ROM and also beanstalk 4.4. But there a lot of great Roms here I just chose the 2 I like the most.
All the info is here to erase Knox files. You could root 4.3 with cf auto root and kingo all easy and fast.

Thank you very much for the information I will try beanstalk , but it is nice to know that i can still root 4.3 ,I was behind the times when 4.3 came out I read about knox and the difficulty rooting and did not keep up with the progress

He's right, there isn't just one best ROM. If you try BeanStalk and you like it you might also try SlimKat 4.4, it works really well on my Note 2
do I need any special prep to upgrade to beanstalk since I am coming from 4.12. like a kernel or just apply the rom as instructed
For the above reasons BEST ROM threads are closed on XDA and not allowed as all are the BEST for the people using them

[Q] Rooting on new Note 3's?

Not sure what firmware is on shipping Note 3's right now. But if i buy a new one from a T-mobile store in the next week what firmware will be on it? Can that out of the box firmware package be fully rooted and run AOSP ROM's?
Speaking of that, It appears if different levels of root are a thing right now, rooted stock that maintains KNOX and full blown rooted with TWRP that sets a KNOX 0X1. Is this correct? are both of these options on new Note 3's right now?
I know the search is a powerful tool, and I can find various guides for rooting different firmwares. But i have no idea what firmware is currently on new phones.
Thanks for the help.
I just got a note 3 couple days ago. The firmware is 4.4.2. You can root and flash a aosp. But you're gonna trip the Knox to 0x1. I just said f it and did it lol. I was tired of twiz and all the bloated tmo apps.

Recommended ROM for sm-n910v?

Mainly wanting to keep it clean, i prefer a stock debloat that's smooth and good on battery, a few bells and whistles are always nice but the main focus being functionality. Any suggestions? Comments on specific Roms?

Stock, rooted, then debloat it yourself with Debloater, perhaps?
Other than that, Jasmine more than likely which is based on stock but has some other goodies and can still benefit from debloating.

These two are your best bet for close to stock. Both are great on battery and on the newest firmware so it's just a preference on what mods you want. I have stock, rooted ROMs in post 2 and 3.

Unfortunately you will have to root and unlock again with this guide. Then you will be able to run the new ROMs. I found this guide very helpful too.
