[Q] Question about booting from External SD - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

So you obtained this compressed image debrick_sph_l710.img.xz
Now extract the .IMG file using 7-Zip (WinZip does not work),
then you write the image file to your 16-GB SD card using dd in Linux.
Now you turn your cell off and insert the new SD card.
The question is: How do you boot off this new SD card and not the cell's internal boot loader?
Do you just power up?
Do you need to use the Download Mode method, or the Recovery Mode method?
Maybe your internal boot loader has to be damaged before the cell even looks at the external SD.
Anyone have ideas on this?
Thanks.

Reading an SD card with bootlader image on it

Hi Guys
Is there any way to copy an image from an sd card so that i can make changes and then write the image back to another card.
I can create a custom extended rom and then save it to an sd card using mty. The problem is i have to change a single file for each image we use and this requires making up a new extended rom image, i would like to be able to extract this file from the sd card image change it and then re-write the image to an sd card.
any ideas
thanks

i need help

hi...
first of all, sorry for my english....
i need help with installing a new custom rom
how can i push the zip file to sd card trough usb cable?
i partitioned my sd card( it was not purposely) so i have deleted all my files, and i cant boot into rom because its not installed.
when i turn my phone on, the first what shows up is bootloader....
so, can somebody help?
I learned from my other topic today that you can mount the SD card in recovery mode (thanks TheGhost1233 ). Just boot into HBOOT and choose the recovery. After that go to mounts and mount the SD card. Your computer will detect it as mass storage and you can copy your ROM to the SD card. Good luck
tnx, its working

[Q]mounting the so called SD card in clockwork recovery

One the things I used to do with phones with a physical SD card was to mount the SD card while I was in recovery to transfer files. This kind of helped not to use adb/fastboot or boot normally and do it as a mass storage. It saved time. I've noticed that this is not possible using CWR. Is that everyone else's experience also? Is there a workaround?

Common Bootloop help :(

Quick help: I decided to flash this rom after rooting the One X. But i forgot to put the rom file into the internal SD, i flashed the boot.img and it's in a boot loop. How do i get it out? Thanks!
I suppose you do have the latest cwm. If not, download it and flash it.
After that, go to recovery and there should be a option to mount sd.
Select it and your pc should Recognize the sd card.
After that, put rom on sd and flash as usual.
I mounted the SD card but when i attempted to connect the phone to the PC, it does not show anything. The phone shows unmount/ SD Card

Do you have the recovery from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819 ?
If yes, connect your phone to pc first before you select mount usb storage
Done thanks!
