You did everything right. It takes about 1 minute to boot the first time.
If your phone doesn't boot after that, are you sure you were on 4.2.2 firmware before you rooted your phone?
You can try flashing the 4.2.2 firmware through Odin, then root again.
The error message while you are wiping dalvik cache is normal, it's not an error it's just a partition that is missing from newer firmwares.

Ok, but i don't have tar file for 4.2.2 firmware samsung grand duos, I can not find.

Tanks, i download this, but don't have the 4.2.2 version, the version of firmware for my country is the 4.2.1 don't have a other . I need the 4.2.2 because the batery life is more and i install the aplication in sdcard not in the 4 gigabytes of my phone, and the phone is more fast.

Try to flash Stock422.zip via CWM from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2556559
Or try to flash Stock Recovery 4.2.2 .tar via ODIN from this link
http://d-h.st/sSX
After that via ODIN flash 4.2-THL-CWM-Touch-6.0.3.6-Baffin-Odin.tar from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577974
After that via CWM flash XXUBMJ4 4.2.2 from this link

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451670

It's works in Portuguese language, very good. Tank you. The real problem of this phone is the memory, i have 0,90 Gb free of the 3,96Gb system. The external 2 internal aplication not work correctly, i have a black window.I will look for another program to do the same.

I install the extenal 2 internal aplication, and open a white screen and nothing appear, don't work.
Install FolderMount appear in the screen checking root and nothing more, but my phone is root correctly.
Install Link2sd, but when i move to sd card, for exemple facebook, appear in the screen the menssage App2SD not have support for this phone, don't have simbolic ligation, the second partition not found.

The solution is delete unnecessary files and try to move games data to external sd (if you have games)

But i don't have games in my phone, i have te necessary apps, sms and mms, the memory is full. In my samsung gio the Link2sd work very good for android 4.2.1, but in the samsung grand duos android 4.2.2 any aplication work fine for this problem.

[Q] Step by step installing Cyanogen from stock

Hello
Would like to ask if these are the correct steps i need to make to have a functional Galaxy Gio
Now i have 2.3.3 KP5 stock from Vodafone Romania, without root or anything
PDA: S5660XXKPO
PHONE: S5660XXKPA
CSC: S5660OXFKP5
0. Root phone with update.zip package found in this forum ( not sure if this step is needed since i will install CM anyway )
1. Make a screenshot of *#1234# ( for future returning to stock if needed )
2. Reset phone to factory defaults
3. Take SIM + SDcard out
4. Enter stock recovery mode
5. Flash signed_cwm-5.0.2.7-flashablezip-ext4+rfs.zip ( package made by phiexz , ty btw )
6. Insert SDcard and try to make a nandroid backup of what i have now on phone, remove SDcard then copy it on my PC
7. Flash new recovery signed_cwm-5.0.2.7-flashablezip-ext4only.zip ( not sure about this step, maybe i can stay with first one )
8. Flash from CWM recovery update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-b1-gio-KANG-signed.zip
9. Clear cache / dalvik from CWM recovery
10. Flash from CWM CM7.2-RC-1-patch-2.zip
11. Clear cache / dalvik from CWM recovery
12. Finnaly reboot phone and hope it works
13. Partition my card on PC ( A-Data 16 GB class 10 ) with ext4+fat32 (again not sure here how much from each )
14. Install link2sd and try to move apps, and then set up phone and enjoy
Pls if i did make some mistakes try to help me
Thank u in advance

Use the CWM from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397120
And the tutorial from there. Then do a factory reset before and after flashing CM7 ROM. You don't need to root.
For ext4 partition you need a card reader, don't even think to format from the phone.
BTW, you don't need to remove the SD Card or the SIM

Eh, no need for sim card out, otherwise good.
Edit: there is no need for ext partition in sdcard, i have my 8gb formatted to ntfs only. you can move apps to sd with titanium backup.
Thank u for info`s . Tried Cyanogen 7.1/7.2 Stock 2.3.4 2.3.5 but now after almost briking my phone i am back to stock romania vodafone rom and will stay this way until Cyanogen gets more mature on our phone ( for example call quality is MUCH better in stock then Cyanogen.) And also battery use is much higher in Cyanogen then stock
Btw, don`t rely on nandroid backup, u can`t restore it using CWM

[SOLVED] (Q) how to flash a new Rom ?

Ok guyz, it's a silly question but still i wanna clarify myself. Here's how i flash a new rom
1) reboot to recovery
2) format/factory reset
3) wipe cache partition
4) install from sd card ( rom )
5) reboot
6) install from sd card ( gapps)
No problem in this at all. Ext partition remains as i don't need to create partition everytime ( very happy about this though ).
But in few threads i've read about 'wipe dalvik cache' and more before flashing. What effect would that have though ?
Can anyone please clarify this for me.

If you wipe data and cache, there's no need to wipe dalvik cache as well, since it's stored on those partitions, so it gets wiped alongside them.
Also of you do a factory reset inside the recovery there's no need to wipe cache again, since the factory reset wipes it as well.

Go to CWM then connect your phone to PC in CWM go mount and storage and then mount usb storage now you should see the phones internal memory on pc and external sd if You have now downloading for example 7amada V5 rom its gb but pretty stable and smooth and then copy to internal storage then unmount usb storage the in CWM:

1. Which CWM version are you using
2. What ROM are you trying to flash
The first thing you should realize, is that formatting the /system means that Android no longer exist in your phone. Therefore you can no longer boot into your phone; boot into Recovery instead.
The second thing: Are you sure you're trying to flash a ROM explicitly made for the W? ROM from different devices most likely will not be able to run on the W. In fact, the error message "No space on this device" might very well mean that CWM tried to flash the ROM onto the wrong partition.

sorry bro was not able to get you earlier
u mean you have a rom zip on your internal in that case just enter recovery and hope u have rooted and stuff
Switch of your device press Vol up+home+power all at the same time and leave the power button once you see the samsung logo
now in recovery wipe data factory/cache/dalvik cahe and you are good to proceed flashing if you have an external sd then keep your zip in ext sd and do full wipe which will wipe your internal sd as well but not the external so if u have an external sd you can do a full wipe else just do the steps mentioned it will be fine
and if you have stock rom it is flashable via mobile odin please read this thread to understand everything http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696

I am afraid of loosing new custom rom .zip file, twrp,... Is it possible to do it or I have to flash stock rom and then do the simple factory reset in settings?
Thanks

It seems u want to get rid of all uneccesary junk so thats possible to be removed only if you do full wipe thats is u even have to wipe system that will delete everything of the last rom and even in internal but after that u need to mount ur storage from recovery and then transfer the zip of your rom and flash it .so u need to be sure that your recovery is able to mount internal sd , I blv I hv posted a super wipe link so u can even flash that that will erase evrything u wish to but mounting of card shd work to let u transfer the file of rom zip or the safest get a ext sd transfer the rom zip and after clean wipe install zip from external sd.
If your mount sd is working first try and check that connect ur phn to pc via usb and in recovery select mount sd if it shows then you are good to go and get what u need.
So the prob lies u want steps but I need surity if ur mount storage works if it does then just flash this file attached as I hope it has uploaded fine as I used my phn to do so .just flash the zip attached and it will wipe all on its own .mount sd transfer ur custom rom zip and selec t it to flash . U get what u want

why are you so worried its a simple step
1. boot into recovery - u know how to do it
2. connect your phone to pc and now click mount and see if you find the option to mount sd as soon as u click it it will recognise the internal sd
3. thats said if it works you can move ahead - just select the flash zip u have kept in ur internal sd it will wipe everything and now u mount again and transfer the rom zip
4.you can proceed flashing the rom zip from internal sd. done!
5. if you have an ext sd card then place both wipe zip and rom zip in external and choose install zip from external sd and select wipe zip .it will run some codes on screen and everything is wiped out now the recovery will restart and now select the rom zip thats it.
note: its a simple stuff what i am trying to make u understand is that if u clean wipe then you loose all ,everything from internal storage so u need some rom zip to flash which u need in external or internal so u need to transfer that zip, if its in external it wont get wiped off so you dont need any mounting to be done.
before all do backup your efs for your safety . I hope you know that or must have gone through it.
or rather do some reading it will take an hour for you to go through everything in detail

This will not happen.
You should indeed wipe data (and wipe cache and dalvik cache) when installing a new ROM. The data on your SD card will remain there, like your music and other stuff. Just place the *img. file in the root folder.
Good luck with flashing your new ROM :good:
Thank You
