When flashing new rom, TWRP Giving me "updating partition details" fail message
I updated to TWRP 2.6.3.0 today for toro, and wiped my system, data, and cache. Upon attempting to install CM11's toro nightly from 12/16 I got a "Failed" message.
"Error Flashing zip '/sdcard/cm-11-20131216-NIGHT"
"Updating Partition Details..."
"Failed"
I am unable to install this ROM, and also unable to restore my backup, as I get the same error. Can anyone advise?

Edit - fixed by updating to 2.6.3.2.

[Q] Help! Issues with Installing CM6

I was on CM 6.1.2 for a while, then decided to start using the CM7 nightlies from Rom Manager, then wanted to go back to 6.1.2 so I could have my camera back (I have hardware 0004), I used Caulkin's Format All .zip in Clockworkmod 2.5.0.1 to wipe everything out, then went to install 6.1.2 from my SD Card and kept receiving an error stating:
assert failed: write_raw_image ("/tmp/boot.img", "boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/update-cm-6-2.1.2-Supersonic-signed.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I tried restoring from several nandroids and it keeps giving me message:
Checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Error while flashing boot image!
When I try to boot my phone, it just stays on the "HTC Evo" white screen.
What can I do??? Even if I have to return to a stock rom I'm fine with redoing root, etc, I just don't know what to do from here! Any ideas??

Stuck in recovery-cannot format cache/data

I was trying to flash ecliptic ROM from PACMAN Rom and got a status 7 error during installation, the problem is that I had already erased my cache, data, and system before flashing. I cannot flash any roms without error messages now and whenever I try to format my system, cache, or data I get the error:
E:Unable to mount 'system'
E:Unable to mount '/cache'
Can anyone help me please? I have tried using clockworkmod recovery and every time I attempt to format it just freezes indefinitely.
Reboot recovery when you get in to recovery. There are some ROMs that the only way to flash them is to reboot the recovery.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Did you just recently flash your current recovery? Sounds like you need to reflash your recovery, and make sure your using the correct one for the m7. Which recovery and version are you currently on?
Status 7 refers to either an error in the rom zips updater-script, or the rom zips updater-binary is not compatibe with your current recovery.
boot into recovery mode.

Soft bricked and can't flash any ROM

So , I was helping my buddy out with his Roger branded HTC One M8... He had the latest OTA, unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery, and finally tried to flash ARHD 10.2.....
ARHD won't flash because it says it's a corrupt .ZIP.....
The Backup we made before flashing, recovers, then reboots back into recovery ( fails )
Any other ROM also says corrupt .ZIP...
Have never had an issue like this before, and I have no idea what to do from this point on....
Already tried recovering the backup & flashing a different ROM.
I can't find the RUU for the latest rogers ROM ( Firmware 2.23.631.2 ) so I haven't tried to flash a stock ROM.... Can you install a stock ROM from before the OTA, if you did the OTA? Or will that just lead to more issues?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! ( PHONE MODEL M8_UL )
What recovery and what version?
My first hunch would be fastboot erase cache, and re-flash recovery using fastboot. Often clears up lots of flashing issues like this. Also make sure you are using an up to date version of recovery.
Also, you can try to put the ROM on a different location such as the removeable SD and flash from there.

Rogers often does not issue RUUs, so I would not be surprised if this is the case for the M8 as well. Although I personally can't say, as its not my carrier.

Using TWRP 2.7.0.1
I did the exact same thing as he did , except with my phone, and I never had any of these issues, same recovery, same ROM, same phone model, so weird :S

That version is 2 iterations old.
But just might be a bad recovery install, it happens (and as you mentioned, or works on your phone, so why not your buddy's?). adb erase cache and install newest TWRP (2.7.1.0).

Did you fastboot erase cache before installing TWRP, as I suggested?

the log got me thinking, after updating TWRP and then clearing the cache the mounting issue seemed wierd, so I tried sideloading to sdcard0 after clearing the cache once more then installing from sideload.zip on sdcard0, which entered the ARHD install GUI. so now I just need a confirmation on whether installing from sdcard0 is dangerous as a reformat mid install will erase the zip im trying to install from. soft brick is bad enough, really want to avoid an expensive paperweight.
I'm still in the menu, waiting for more seasoned minds to respond before I go through with it.

New MIUI Update does not update (reboots into TWRP)

Hi guys,
I have a rooted mi10t lite on MIUI.
Got an update today (miu v12.0.2.0.RJSEUXM) so downloaded it via phone and pressed 'reboot now'.
Issue is the phone reboots into TWRP recovery and when I boot back to system the phone still tells me to update the phone by rebooting it which goes back to TWRP.
I tried to install the update via TWRP > Install>
The internal storage is encrypted though so I moved the updated .zip file to my SD Card (root of SD card folder).
I go back into TWRP after a reboot and flash the install but get an error when trying to install the update. Not sure why?
Code:
E: Unble to decrypt FBE device
Updating partition details...
...done
Updating partition details...
...done
MTP Enabled
Installing zip file '/external_sd/miuupdatenumberetc.zip'
Checking for Digest file...
Error installing zip file ''/external_sd/miuupdatenumberetc.zip'
Updating partiion details...
...done
Any ideas please? I don't really want to update the phone if it results in me losing everything and having to install magisk and TWRP again, etc.
Thanks
1. to install OTA update from system, you have to have stock recovery
2. installed TWRP can not decrypt data partition
I would:
1. restore stock recovery
2. install OTA update
3. hotboot TWRP so you can decrypt data partition (fastboot boot twrp.img), install Magisk
Your Magisk modules and all data will remain intact.
i have the same problem. if i want to restore stock recovery, is it the right way to flash via fastboot the recovery.img from the fastboot rom, or i will get issues?

Pixel XL Borked Lineage Install Encrypted Storage

Pixel XL unlocked and flashed with Lineage OS 18.1. An update failed and it will only boot to recovery.
All attempts to side load lineage and stock android from recovery fail. adb sideload runs up to 47%, phone gets to Step 2/2 and fails.
Code:
Error applying update: 1 (ErrorCode::kError)
E:Error in /sideload/package.zip (status 1)
Internal storage is encrypted and all attempts to reformat partitions and/or completely wipe/factory reset have failed.
Lineage's recovery output:
Code:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
E:/system/bin/mke2fs failed with status 1
E:format_volume: Failed to make ext4 on /dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/userdata: Success
Data wipe failed.
E:Failed to clear BCB message: failed to write /dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc: I/O error
E:Failed to WriteUpdateInProgress: failed to read /dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc: I/O error
I am unable to install TWRP, however I can fastboot boot twrp.img and run TWRP.
At this point, all I want is to wipe clean and start over, but I can't find any tool that can successfully format, repair or otherwise wipe the entire storage. Any help would be appreciated.
