[Q] WiFi passwords not saving after 4.3 update - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Anyone having issues with WiFi connections not saving after the update?
I have to enter the WPA2 key each time I want to connect to an access point now after I go out of range or turn WiFi on and off.
I'm on stock rooted 4.3.
I also tried renaming the /data/misc/wifi directory as some folks suggested that for tethering issues, but it didn't make a difference.
Thanks!

I am having the same problem too. Did you ever find a solution?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

No, not with the stock sense ROM. I haven't tried again in a while. I've been using the Google Play Edition Kit Kat ROM from the developer forum I think and I haven't had the issue with that one. I've been using it exclusively for about a month now without any problem at all.
I also didn't have the issue with CyanogenMod 11. The WiFi passwords were remembered properly.
I was either going to try the stock OS's again if a RUU comes out for 4.3 or wait and try again when the Kit Kat version comes out. I really like the Google Play Edition, but I miss the camera software from Sense. Zoe's really handy with kids.

After OTA 4.1.2 Update, having wifi issues/problem

I was using MrRobinson's stock rooted rom. When OTA 4.1.2 came out, I unrooted, installed patch, ran CF-Autoroot then I'm back to rooted again. However I did notice, every now and then, my wifi stays connected but connection dies. Internet connection is simply dead. So I don't get any email notifications if ever I get new emails. To fix this I have to turn wifi off/on and internet is ok again. I thought maybe I did something wrong so I wipe cache/factory reset, odin back to full stock non-rooted, installed OTA then use Exynos Abuse/Exploit to root. I am still experiencing the same issue. Att Smart Wifi is disabled. Wifi is always on under sleep policy. I have scorched the net and I can't find any solutions Any help would be much appreciated.
Mine is on the oem update no root even, and my wifi sucks now. The signal and connection will be good but it can't up or download anything. Wifi speed and cellular data speeds are all sub 1mbps also. ATT wifi is disabled also.
The only thing that helps me is to just pair to another wifi source, and go back if needed. Annoying! I'd love to find some solution also, I don't mind rooting if need be for it also.

You can still do warranty to get a new one just call att and tell them your situation with it. This would be my best recommendation to you. Or just root and keep running roms. This is one phone that I havent had the urge to customize with a rom or anything yet

Thanks for the recommendation but I also felt the same before. I thought the phone was fast enough that I didn't need to try custom roms. After trying Scott's ATT CleanRom SE, that idea was simply change. If you haven't, you should try running custom roms. Although, I would still want to know if there is a solution to this problem when running stock rom.

I've had similar issues since OTA upgrade to 4.1.2... Seems an issue the phone is having transitioning from celluar network to wireless...

Perhaps it's a minor bug somewhere and the custom ROMs happen to pull that wireless code piece from something other than official 4.1.2 where the bug (if it is one) is located.

Yeah but hopefully it will get fixed soon. As I was looking for solutions, some people think it's their wifi routers that are having issues.

True, but 4.1.1 didn't have this issue. They must have changed something.
I don't know if it is related to the issue in this thread, but I had a problem with the phone since I got it of the WIFI constantly connecting, then disconnecting, then connecting again. I solved it by changing the security model of the router from WPA/WPA2 to WEP128.

Yeah saw that thread somewhere but this is a whole different issue. Wifi stays connected but no connection to the internet. You get connection timeout.
Yeah mine just quits. A note 1, a note 10.1, 2 ipads, 2 iphone 4's, and xperia ion and three separate computers have had zero issues on any of the wifi networks here. In fact, if I leave it be, it will not work on the phone, and it now seems to block all the rest from access! If I turn the wifi off on this, perfect immediately afterward. Strange.

did you try just simply reset your router?
I had all the problems in this thread after 4.1.2 A factory reset fixed it.
I'm using the international ROM (custom but fairly stock) and started experiencing the same issue when I switched ROMs.
Toggling the wifi always fixes the problem, but it's not a permanent solution. The problem seems to happen when the device goes into sleep mode for me.

[Q] Fitbit Flex, BT4 & Custom Roms

Hi,
I've been running jelly bam lately because of the PA features (specifically per app DPI), but I recently purchased a Fitbit Flex and couldn't get it to work. I contacted their support and they just told me they don't support custom roms.. so I tried to restore my stock ATT/Samsung rom which is just version 4.1.1. The Fitbit Flex software installs and actually has the refresh button now but my phone doesn't seem to see my Flex when bluetooth is on. I think I need an update before I will be able to use the stock rom and I'm not sure how to do the updates with TWRP installed, I tried but it keeps rebooting into recovery. Anyway, I'd prefer not using the stock rom, specifically I would prefer a custom rom with PA features. I've just tried PAC-Man 4.3 nightly from last night (pac_t0lte-nightly-20130823.zip), and while my phone's bluetooth does see the device now, the Fitbit app doesn't give me the options like it did with my stock rom. Has anyone gotten the bluetooth and their Fitbit Flex to work with a custom rom with PA features?
Thanks!
If I recall, on a S3 and using a Fitbit One, you won't see the Fitbit except inside the app. There is a "devices" section in the app which lets you check the sync box. If you don't see that then the phone isn't seeing the Fitbit. Stock rom on the S3 works fine. Any custom rom will show you stats pulled from the web but not allow you to sync from the phone. I believe their app is the problem and not necessarily the phone or rom. Anyway, I've learned to live without syncing from the phone since stock firmware just isn't for me.

This is all exactly the same on my Note 2, but even my stock doesn't rom work. Like I said, possibly due to the old version 4.1.1. Under the stock rom the app shows all the additional options like you mention, but my phone's bluetooth never sees the Flex. I wonder what the Fitbit app uses to determine whether to show the additional options or not. I included screenshots to my "about device". I noticed that my model number was different with the new rom and thought maybe that might have something to do with it because clearly it's not (or not just) the android version.
Have you tried a stock 4.1.2 build ??

Can someone link a stock rom for me? I have the GPe of the GS4. i9505G, and I have AT&T. Started out with SGH-i337

I got FitBit to Sync finally with my custom rom.
I used the Build Prop Editor from JRummy. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor
change the ro.product.model=GT-I9505G
and ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
and save those settings, reboot, and now Fitbit will try to sync now. YAY! :victory:

I followed those tips and got it working on my Galaxy S3 AT&T running Carbon ROM...
but now the Dilbert app is telling me that my device is not supported... which is weird because it's just an app to view the daily comic strip.

Just one thing to try, my FitBit wouldn't initially synchronise with any of my devices (all custom ROM)...but I then tried removing the gel cover and plastic rear battery cover of the phone (an S3), held it very close to the FitBit and it then sync'ed fine!
It seems that this new low-power Bluetooth protocol is a little too low on the power element
Note 2 & Fitbit/Bluetooth Problems
I came here looking for answers/help with my bluetooth... but so far I haven't really been able to find anything that's actually helpful. I can share with everything what I've been able to find out, though.
I have a Galaxy Note 2 running stock on Android 4.4.2 and I have the Fitbit Flex. I used to sync without any problems but after my phone updated to 4.4.2 it no longer syncs. After researching for a few days... it seems the problem is with the Update itself... it reduces power or range of Bluetooth... that's why the Flex cannot sync to it. However, I have discovered an quick fix to that:
When syncing, just place your phone on top of your Flex band and it will sync up without any problems. This has become my temporary solution. Someone else suggest another quick fix would be to turn on Mobile Hotspot on your phone... that is suppose to increase the Bluetooth Power.
I also learned that Samsung won't update the Note 2 to 4.4.4, which would have fixed this problem.. but instead will Update the Note 2 to Lollipop... but that date is still unannounced.
If anyone has any ideas on how to really fix this problem... I'm all ears. The only solution I found was to open up the phone and do something to the bluetooth chip inside... but I forgot where I found that solution.

Need Some Major Help Please

I have had my Galaxy Nexus for just over a year and have been running MMuzzy's version of Android 4.3 since July 30th. Just today, my phone stopped connecting to my home router, and I have literally tried everything to fix the Wi-Fi connection. First I did the simple stuff like restarting the phone and putting it into airplane mode. Then, I tried forgetting the network and re-entering the password, and wiped the cache and the delvik cache. Finally, I reverted back to Android 4.2.2 with a clean install, but I still don't have a working Wi-fi connection.
When I click on the profile, it barely flashes "connecting" and just reverts to "Saved, secured..." I know that this is not a router issue since my laptop, roommate's phones and laptops, and my girlfriend's phone all work fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I'm worried that my phone is done-zo.
Have you tried connecting to another wifi network with your phone? You could also try to create a wifi hotspot on another mobile device and connect to it. If both works then you know at least that your GNex' wifi hardware isn't broken.
Total shot in the dark, bur have you updated the ROM to a new version? Maybe the dev implemented a kernel or some change to the kernel that caused wifi problems for you.

Upon waking up, my phone once again reconnected to my Wi-Fi. Totally bizarre, but 4.3 has been a complete crap shoot so far. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated!
probably you only had to reboot your router..something was wrong assigning the ip address to your nexus
Or DHCP pool was full.. Meh. Boring thread.

[Q] Anyone able to share "AT&T Hot Spots" from their rom?

I'm trying to get at&t hot spots to work on a custom rom and the apk that I have I'm not sure if it is the right one I should be doing. Anyone able to put the apk on dropbox or something.
Justice bump. I asked this question a little while ago and never got a good answer. Out of curiousity what APK is it that you've got? I know digging through the processes it is listed as running in my phone. Replicating this would be great for ROMs, especially since I'm working part time at Starbucks....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
This is what I tried using...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fc68tce5vdvyayk/att_hotspots.apk
It shows up as a running app but it doesn't do anything. I'm going to check my bosses phone (S4) tomorrow to see how the app opens when I open it on his phone. On my phone, the app keeps saying there is an update when I select it but it never updates.
I agree that it would be great to get this working. A colleague mentioned that he was able to by both installing the apk and copying the apk to \system\app (for auto running). So far no luck on my end
This is different than the one that I had tried and looks to be the right one. I downloaded it to my SD card and went to install and got a message saying it was already installed as a system app (makes sense for stock). Have you tried doing it from there to keep functionality of it when flashing ROMs? I would say this is the right track alright.
Is your custom rom AOSP-based? Because I think I remember reading that the functionality of "AT&T hot spots" is built into the framework for touchwiz roms.
It is. I havent been able to find confirmation either way. Just that the hot spots app is what makes the connection.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
First things first you have to make sure your kernel supports wifi tethering, without this you are wasting your time. In all my time on android as long as tethering is enabled in the kernel its just a matter of turning on the hotspot from within the settings menu. I don't recall the touchwiz menus to tell you exactly where the tethering option is but in aosp based roms its under the 'more' option in the wireless and networks section. This is also where you can set the ssid, security encryption, etc for the wireless network you are broadcasting.
Hi. It's not wifi tethering that I'm after. I want to use the AT&T wifi service that my office building gets since my cell signal is terrible at work. It's the only thing I miss from the Samsung ROM
OK so I flashed a ROM and tried installing the apk you were using and it seems to have made a small difference. I'm automatically connected without signing in to Starbucks AT&T WiFi (the way I would usually have to without the app) after having saved the network. Strange thing is looking at the app itself seems to suggest its not running. Running Apps shows 0.00kb in data. I'm not sure if its then a function of the ROM (which I doubt, its never done this before) or the app.

hello everyone, I have a rooted s4 on t mobile, i am using cyanogenmod 12.1 , my question is. up to now I was able to use my hot spot to watch Netflix on my Roku stick
without being slow down, today i noticed my Netflix would not work, I call t mobile and they told me it was because I had use all my allowed data, I never had the problem before, how can they tell I was using the phone as a hot spot, I though if you were rooted they could not tell if you were tethering, any answer will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
Dump that CM garbage and flash a TW or GPE rom.
So do you think it's Cm vi that caused it, I had a gpe rom before

Probably was using a apn for tethering that wasn't the normal lte apn

Thus has nothing to do with what ROM you're running; since so many people are abusing the service (ie. forgoing home internet and using their phones to tether to), carriers found a different means to see who is tethering, and are cracking down in them.

After tinkering around, I found a workaround that is working for me so far so I decided to post. I am on insane hybrid and obviously rooted.
Installed newest google tether app (experimental version): https://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wifi_tether_v3_4-experimental1.apk
- Left it as unsecured but enabled the access control
- Changed setup method to WEXT (ad-hoc) and started tether.
Streaming, downloading, Dropbox are all now syncing on my computer and I have full speeds again after being throttled. To browse with chrome, I installed the extension "user-agent switcher" and changed to "Samsung Galaxy S3".
I am curiuos if this works for anyone else, or if anyone has found an easier fix. Thanks.
