Hello all!
Just had a few questions regarding the Dual Sim version of the Galaxy S4 Mini. I just ordered one to use as my travel phone using both my local US tmobile sim and a local sim at my destination. I was curious about some of the compatibilities of this phone with some of the other Galaxy S4s.
Particularly:
Is it possible to port over tmobile wifi calling to work on this phone from say the main Galaxy S4 from Tmobile?
Would I be able to install custom roms from the single sim Galaxy S4 mini?
Thanks very much for the help in advance

Hello!
In Dual SIM model, you can define which SIM you want to use to make calls, send messages or whatever... you can define one main SIM or choose SIM when you make the call.
And about custom roms:
There are official CyanogenMod ROM to both single SIM model (GT-I9190 or GT-I9195), but don't have any custom ROM to Dual SIM.
I hope I've helped you.

If i were you and using only one sim most of the time I'll get a 9190 or 9195 and a single cheap small phome while I travel,
I've flash in 9192 cm from 9190 and 9195 both work but didn't recognize the sim i think flashing stock from other variants would be the same

Hi,
I am gonna buy a new dual sim soon and I am very undecided between this one and the HTC one dual sim
I am thinking about these two because they should be ones of the most used dual sim smartphones, giving me more hope to get updates in the future
The GT-i9192 doesnt have LTE (which consumes a lot of battery btw) and NFC, but it does have a removable battery and costs much less
Reading around I got to know this Knox stuff.. since I live in Europe I read the warranty problem shouldnt matter..
However it looks like the Knox may interfeere whenever you want to flash some newer custom android version.. is it true? I mean, if it is just a matter of displaying an alert I dont care but if I cant install a newer rom than I would get pissed off

are there any differences between the Japanese version SC-04D and the general version i9250, in terms of rom flashing, root method and future update?
If there is not, I am going to get the galaxy nexus tomorrow! thx guys!
I have an SC-04D (Docomo Galaxy Nexus). I was already able to root mine using the standard methods and install clockwork recovery, but haven't tried any custom ROMs yet. One thing that is different between the Docomo version and others is that the built-in tethering option is missing in the SC-04D, which is one reason why I'd like to install the standard google rom.
Thx for your reply, btw is there any sim lock for this SC04??

I assume that you can read Japanese, here is a small comparison site:
Look at Pocketgames.jp blog entry 19811
Hope this helps. About SIM Lock, I'm not sure, don't have other Sims to test, but I got my SC-04D with a red NTT Docomo SIM card, which I have not seen before yet, in the past there were green, now there are almost white, but red?!?!
Just curious, there is a lot better Japanese devices why choose Nexus? (if you are in Japan)
Emama,
your are right!
But I'm using the Nexus as my secondary phone (main is WP7 Omnia 7), because I wanted a Android phone without all the carrier's customization, and of course its Android 4.0 and has a big screen. My only other option was the Docomo GALAXY S II LTE SC-03D which has better specs as the Nexus.
As my Omnia 7 is a SIM free model (not official Docomo phone) I'm basically outside of the Docomo's high speed network with my contract, because I do not want to pay 8000Yen a month for that high speed support(its 128k now for 315Yen), but with the Nexus I can compensate this very much.
If possible I'm using Wifi hotspots. Most of them are free now.
@sakuhei
The Docomo Galaxy Nexus is instead SIM Lock, but can be made SIM free in any Docomo shop. Price is 3000Yen.

Hi Floodguy,
I'm a tourist in Osaka now, and I heard the Galaxy Nexus is in very cheap price now, so I want to get one and bring to my own country.
The problem is, I can only see the phone in Docomo, that I have to buy it with a service plan. Can I simply get a phone only?
I don't read or speak Japanese so it's extra difficult for me. Please help! Thanks a lot!
Does anyone know if the docomo galaxy nexus work with tmobile/at&t without rooting? I see that it is a lot cheaper in Japan than US and want to get one, but not sure if it will work here. Any help will be appreciated!!

I got my docomo GN yesterday straight from Japan. I have to root the phone in order to sim unlock the phone. I'm in Canada and tried using Fido and Telus sim card and they both work fine to connect to 3G network.
I currently own a samsung galaxy s2 from tmobile and im using simple mobile. Now i want to buy a samsung galaxy s4 but i can't seem to find out if the tmobile samsung galaxy s4 will work with simple mobile. I'm planing to buy it from best buy so i was wondering if the tmobile s4 will work with simple mobile or the unlocked s4? If anyone know any kind of s4 that will work on simple mobile can you try and find a best buy link for it??. Thank you in advance
Yes, but only the tmobile version of the S4 since it has the 1700 band for both 4G and 3G that simple mobile requires
Not sure if you will get data

I unlocked my T-mobile Galaxy S 4 and now I am trying to use it on Red Pocket mobile. For the life of me I can not get data connection to work.
So I will be curious if you are able to get data connection to work. It seems there is some type of block on this phone and I have posted this in another thread and no one has yet responded with a solution.
I thought there would be many people purchasing the T-mobile phone then using it on AT&T towers to avoid the locked bootloader on the AT&T S4 however I can't not find much information if others are having success on using it on an AT&T mnvo service.

I have a S2 I bought from T-Mobile and use Simple Mobile and want to buy a S4 from T-Mobile also. T-Mobile won't sell the S4 to me outright because I don't have a plan with them. I am going to buy the Google S4 because the first thing I would do is debrand the T-Mobile S4. I really dislike the T-Mobile on/off noises and bloatware.

So I was wondering if this worked? I use a Simple Mobile SIM in my S2 without unlocking it, and when I cut and put the SIM Card in the S4 it detects that there's a SIM card, but there's no data and I can only do "Emergency Calls Only".
So my question is, do I have to get the phone unlocked to use it on Simple Mobile?
You need to get it unlocked.
To the previous poster you can buy a T-Mobile one they just don't give you a unlock code since you are not in their service.
If you downgrade the software you can unlock easily thru a workaround bug using the dialer or can buy a unlock code online.

Hi,
I was playing with the sim tray and broke one of the pins. I want to replace the tray myself but couldn't really find the part online. I myself have the m919 version (t-mobile/wind). I did though find the sim tray & micro sd holder for the i9500 model (international versoion) on eBay.
Are they the same? Would it work for my phone? Because i also found the part on globaldirectparts[dot]com. The sim tray here is compatible for all versions so I assume the one on ebay works for all versions too?
Thanks
Call tmobile and say you're phone wont read the sim. They'll send a new one for free.

I've seen conflicting reports of some with A320F with working LTE, while the frequency bands conflict this.
I know A320Y works, but those are impossible to find.

The A3 just got an S9 port which is why I was looking at it, I also really like the smaller phones. The A40 is as big as I would go, but it doesn't seem as easy to root as the A3 was.
Did you actually use the A320F and get LTE signal on ATT? Or you're just looking at the numbers? Thanks Again Mate

no i didnt use it on at&t but the bands are there and it should work depending on your location,
i had the same preference with for small phones and couldent find any samsung ones at a small size after my a3 died, i was
surprised on how compact the a40 is for its monsterous 5.9 inch display, besides that i had that s9 rom on my a3 and a40 has almost all the useful features except some gimmics and also worth noting that it doesnt have aod or led.
Hello everyone.
Apologies if someone has posted a fix for this anywhere earlier but can't seem to find it. So I was wondering if it's possible to enable esim functionality (1 physical and 1 esim) on us snapdragon s20 ultra unlocked. I really need that for home and work life balance. I am open to flashing a firmware to enable esim functionality provided the device supports that firmware. Would be glad to buy anyone a coffee for guiding me on this.
Hi,
If you are unlocked flash the decoded csc features from magisk
Decoded csc
Please help regarding this issue. I need it on an urgent basis. My device is sm-g988u. If anyone could just point to a compatible firmware for esim or any other workaround.
Am ready to pay a decent amount to anyone who can provide a solution to this thing.. I don't have a spare phone and besides it's cumbersome to carry 2 phones.. Desperately need a solution..

I am also looking at the same issue. I have a s20 plus snap dragon. Single sim. Can I buy dual sim tray and insert it? I am in Canada and Bell says they support esim. But can't tell me if esim and separate physical sim will work with my phone.
