FAQ
[Q]: How do I enable root?
[A]: As of currently, Omni hasn't merged root yet. It is recommended you flash SuperSU by Chainfire as this will be officially supported. And "currently" is relative up until they merge root.

waiting for a long time. Thanks for your work. Is there any chance it will become official?

Not a clue, since I'm not official. Shouldn't be too hard to maintain since other variations of the m7 are supported. I could probably get the other non supported m7s up with minimal effort. A project for the weekend perhaps, if they don't already have unofficial builds (haven't checked yet). I'll probably look around at how to get this supported/submitted officially later tonight.
Also, please don't quote the long winded OP. I have taken the liberty of removing it for you.
Thanks for this! Does it have HALO and/or expanded desktop?

Not sure; possibly. I haven't played with it much (and don't have my phone on me to check), I just did the basic text and call test to verify phone functionality to get this out to users for a broader test. Hence the "Testing" status of this ROM. In theory, it should have what the other m7 versions have, since I didn't deviate too far from them.
@ all: Please use the Q&A/T thread for basic question and answering (and troubleshooting). Thanks.

I ran this for a little bit hoping to try multi window and I couldn't find it. From what I understood a long press in the recents screen should bring up that option.

I didnt go from 4g to 3g while I was on it though so I cant really comment on that. I was stuck in roaming though, or at least the indicator was on and I couldnt figure out how to make it go away. Calls, data and sms worked though.

New build up (20131220) that should fix this.
Pons, can you explain the kernel features? Trickstermod shows row and smartmax as the default. Min is 162mhz and gpu is overclocked to 487. Also, mp decision is disabled, which suggests there is a build in feature for that?
p.s I noticed omni is missing a few features like customizing quicksettings. Will these be added later?

The kernel is completely stock from Omnirom. I'm working on the bugs of this ROM (trying to get it stable), and get the m7vzw officially added to Omnirom. I haven't gotten around to compiling a custom one yet. Row is an I/O scheduler from Qualcomm that prioritizes Reads over Writes, thus the ROW name, and Smartmax is based on the ondemand and smartassV2 governor. Have a look under performance settings. There's a slide menu from the left (swipe to the right).
As for features, I'm solely focusing on the m7vzw. Once this gets situated, if no one else has yet, I'll start working on the m7tmo (which also no official or unofficial build). But I did look around for the planned features and requests (remember, I'm not a maintainer or part of the Omni team, I just compiled this unofficial version):
Omni Features Development
Quick Settings - Improvement suggestions
[1/3]Base: QuickSettings (SlimBean)

Mods
Adreno libs - Flashable zip (only use on virtuous base as andromadus already has these)
Market 491 error, push these files to system/lib and change permissions to rw/r/r .. Thanks to cnote74 for the files
Does this have the adreno graphics libs? My one gripe with MIUI 4.0 ports is that they don't seem very smooth.
Edit: You might also want to post what's working and what's not.
Thanks for the rom! I'll flash this as soon as I get home from class!

Thread is still in process of developement, will update whats working and whats not in a few moments.
As for the adreno graphics, im using the virtuous base rom which is currently outdated compared to most so its probably just hardware accelerated graphics, i just wanted to get a stable build as this is my first rom, hopefully things will improve when i learn more
Wez:
I have been following the chatter on aj's thread. As I understand it this is essentially the same as his just with the lastest v4 updates?
Are you intending to differentiate from aj, or just release along side him as and when either of you are busy?
I realise that you have put a great deal of effort into this and don't want all your hard work to go out the window when aj releases his.

On a more serious note, I'm a huge fan of minimal apps. I would happily volunteer as a tester if you want/need one. I've had recent issues running ics and would be interested in helping improve things.

Thanks im the same i dont like apps i dont need hence youtube, maps, a few un-needed miui apps have been removed, personally it improves ram and storage capacity
There are a few things i need to fix and improve but im still in the learning stages, like i have said this is the first rom i have ever built and the only main things that dont work is the keyboard backlight (ICS bug not mine), camera (by default it should work with bugs present but mine FC's alot so im thinking im missing some drivers some where), and the last bug i have found is data doesnt work (i rarely use it so for me this rom is pretty stable)
Hope you get rid of the bugs.
The policy.jar fix is not from me. Just the decompile
but thanks for credit.
If you need help or something, just text me. Not much time for a rom at the moment but in the future I'd like to create a ICS rom
Sounds like you're not far off.
2 q's:
How are you finding the auto brightness (used due to keylight bug)? I have found it hit and miss with it jumping up and down. Plus I don't really understand the setting in cm9.
Second, I don't actually remember what I was going to say :$ it'll come to me.
Edit: I remember, are you using it with any sort of OCing? I'm not worried about upping the max, but I do like to try different governers.

Thanks, and regarding the auto brightness i never use it, i always have it set fairly low, although as its on by default when i first flash i did notice it does jump up and down, isnt very reliable.

Love this ROM...two things....What is the new option in the camera for? The "HDR" what exactly does it do?
The other thing is, how do I update my binaries for SuperUser? When I try to update it, I get an error saying that it couldnt be updated and to try again later. I've tried this on and off wifi.
I have two superusers installed on my phone (Superuser and SuperUS) should I uninstall SuperUS? I only have it bcuz I've read that, that version was better. Any thoughts? Thanks

HDR will have this style effect on photos:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging
of course the software/camera on our phones will limit your results, its still a neat effect to play around with. Proper HDR photos will use several photos taken at different EV stops and then combined via software in post processing; best results are with fancier cameras on a tripod.
I will be loading BB8 on my gfs gnex (their thread on here is never updated with the proper thread titles in a timely fashion!) Wouldnt have known a new version was out if i didnt check here, thanks!

I've used both both previously, currently my rom (jellybomb) uses SuperSU as default. Not sure if having one or the other or both will make a difference though
My issue is that when I reboot my phones (GS3 and G-Nex) it will tell me that my binaries are not updated and to update them, but when I try to do it..I get an error.

Why is this ROM "taking CyanogenMod to the next level?
CyanogenMod does not want to include many customizations like they did in cm7
But why not? We want to customize our phones!
This ROM adds more options and cherries to CyanogenMod, cherry picked from the CM gerrit, Google gerrit, AOKP gerrit, SGT7, TeamEOS, TeamBAKED, Slim ROM, root - box and ParanoidAndroid
Basically this is one big mixture of all the great ROMs out here!
Stock but still highly customizable the way we like it

This is a pretty cool ROM. Maguro users get all the cool ROMs, not to say we don't but they get a lot more ROMs than we do. One thing I noticed is Hardware Acceleration force closed at the startup screen, and when you try to go into it in the settings it force closes there too. So far though its a nice runner with great features and how they're set up.

Oh, and when an app asks for root permission, which I have automatic allow and no notification in superuser, it puts me in the system settings screen.

One thing I noticed is Hardware Acceleration force closed at the startup screen, and when you try to go into it in the settings it force closes there too. So far though its a nice runner with great features and how they're set up.

Oh, and when an app asks for root permission, which I have automatic allow and no notification in superuser, it puts me in the system settings screen.

you have to follow the install instructions otherwise you get this problem ( i doný know if alpha changed the kernel since i don't know if this phone accepts the same kernel as the maguro)
probably the kernel you flashed overwrites my ramdisk and the ramdisk makes the folder fot the HWA app
i'll try to put the command in a init.d script so this problem won't happen again to people
and about the su problem that's weird i'll try to reproduce that bug and look into it!

See, that's my problem. I read enough to get by and end up missing stuff. Bad habit. So flashing another kernel kills this feature? Does the OP say how to flash one without losing hardware acceleration?
Edit:never mind, I just read it. I'll give it another try in a bit.

Well, it flashed fine. The only thing im noticing is if i hits the recents button and have more than 1 app in there, if i hit the clear button, all but the last app swipes away. I have to hit the clear button a second time to clear it. Otherwise eveythings working now for me.

well that's actually the way it should work
when you open for example the phone app
and hit the recent button
the phone app will appear there too (this is since 4.2)
and when you hit clear it will also kill that app most of the times people don't want to kill the foreground app
so 1 click will kill all the background apps
and a second click will also kill the foreground app

Hmm, OK. Never seen a ROM implement that before. I dunno, whenever I need to push the clear button, I'd rather have all apps discarded at once, but its a good idea for most.

Most roms I've seen function this way. It's a "kill all" that kills all except for the last app. I see the pros & cons to it... I get it.
Alpha_.. sucks to see you go, man. You're killin the hopes & dreams of a lot of people around here.

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

The same android... Same galaxy .... same nightlies... the same story :/
You talk of the greatest hardware support - I'd love to see apt-x Bluetooth audio supported, and the Mobeam infrared transmitter hardware supported in a custom Rom. Any chance of this?

No. exfat is proprietary and licensed format and carbon/cm would have to pay to use it. And trying to keep the rom as "official" as possible for people til official nightlies are released, and when that happens I plan going my own direction with it and that will be one of the first added.
I've been running this all day. Smooth as, no reboots. My daily driver. Excellent work!

Bootloader version doesn't effect anything
And no. You'll never find gapps in aftermarket roms. I've just been using PAs which you can find in my Jfltetmo thread or just use a 4.4 gapps package you prefer.
Very nice rom thank you.
But titanium restore doesnt work for me..

CodefireX 4.4.3.2.1.000.000 Open Master
CodefireX.com
This well established Android distribution treats development differently than any other to further our Android platform as a whole. This is the fastest source built ROM you will find on this forum, and also the only one to utilize our unique build system and a custom LLVM 3.5 suite based toolchain globally.
*
Here is our very well supported Issue Tracker.
We utilize a plethora of unique optimizations in a build system unlike any other:
Utilizing the LLVM CLANG CI globally, working heavily with upstreams with a goal of furthering our entire Android platform.
Consistently updated upstream toolchain module source with our custom backports, fixes, and optimizations applied in a patch at build time.
Fully built utilizing Link Time Optimization and Polly optimizations (another custom ROM first). Feel free to google these a bit.
Much of our source have code fixes, cleanups, and many minor optimizations to set us even further ahead of the community. These are too generous to even speak of here.
Optimizations are toggled on and off based on device for the best experience we can achieve for your device without sacrificing stability
Many Qcom optimizations and AOSP master (upstream) optimizations and fixes using device specifications to determine usage.
Fully built utilizing strict aliasing and isognu++11 mode.
Utilizing all O4 optimizations (Optimization Level 4) including LTO (with binutils plugins), and additionally LLVM Polly.
Of course we also have several neat UI features, including but not limited to:
T-Mobile Theme Engine.
DPI Wizard (no junk like build.prop tweaks).
Quick Settings panel customizations.
Live network stats in your statusbar.
Button backlight customizations.
Hardware button customizations.
Volume button customizations.
Many more being added during the nightly builds.

Could have sworn it worked on other roms I a have flashed using AOSP. I guess i was mistaken.
Everything else seem to be running ok at the moment. Have not had a chance to test 4G switching I live in a spotty 4g area but i pass a few towers on my way home so i will have a good chance to test the switch.
