So I updated my Telus S3 to 4.3 a couple weeks ago, I used cf-auto root to root my phone. Then I installed SuperSU from the playstore and SuperSU enabled a Knox block feature, so yah I thought my phone was rooted because SuperSU was working perfectly fine. But then a couple of root features didn't work, even though it says that SuperSU has granted it permission the app still mentions "error, no root access". Any solutions? And please if you're not 100% sure that you're method won't brick my phone then don't mention it.

In Superuser there's a temp unroot option.

Why does it matter if its rooted or not? Does it detect it? And for an app to block root is a little pointless.

The barclays app will not install on a rooted device and exits as soon as it detects root access. Just tried the temp unroot option in superuser and can confirm to the OP the it works and the barclays app installs fine when using that option

Ok so with a fair bit of browsing and searching i came across this website HERE
i just want to know if this will root my 4.3 android device which was upgraded OTA from 4.1.2 to 4.3 via Telus
and is it a clean root. basicly keeping stock os and adding the root availability to it. and then allow me to add other software i need.
It should. Chainfire's root tars are generally super solid.
Well I gave it a try but now I have issues with the KNOX blocking the root and of course KNOX doesn't work any ideas how to do that and get rid of knox

Unfortunately I have no experience with KNOX at all. I've read that, if you're rooted, you can remove Knox with Titanium Backup but that puts you back to step 1 of getting root. Chainfire's page says that rooting with his method will trip KNOX but it doesn't mention anything about blocking it. Here's the page for your device. He might have some updated info there:

Hmm ya well for some reason my knox says superSU is trying to access a restricted area of the device and is being blocked so it didn't trip my knox. And as for trying to install knox it won't work not that I want it. I even used Kies to factory restore it. No superSU anymore but does show in my updates to update it

Just go to the play store and update super user. Once this is done open the app it will say update, say yes normal and it will now disable Knox and super user will work.

You initially did it running the CF-Auto-Root. Running SuperSu just put the icing on the cake.
Hi, guys. I wanted to write a post, but since i'm a new member, i'm writing a thread here instead. The thread i wanted to reply is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005
I wanted to let somebody know (because it helps some folks) that i used CF-auto-root, and i have successfully rooted my phone.
More details that may be helpful or useful are following:
*Everything was fine until 4.2.2 (JB); then, my stupidity kicked in, and MANUALLY upgraded OTA to 4.3;
*I noticed this CF-auto-root, tried it, perfectly rooted my phone. And YES, i tripped the Knox warranty...
*At some point, i unrooted my 4.3 (JB) so that i can manually upgrade to KitKat when it's released;
*Successfully upgraded to 4.4.2 (KK) OTA on Mar 10;
*I couldn't find any info about "safe root" for 4.4.2, so i chose CF-auto-root instead (i tripped the flag, so i didn't care);
*I took the same steps for rooting 4.3 and it "worked". Initially verified with Root Checker Basic;
*However, SuperSU seemed to be "missing", and i DL from the store, and it opened fine (I didn't know SuperSU can be DL from the store)
This is my story, and i'm sticking to it
cf auto root work fine on my m919 4.4.2
It doesn't show up anymore in the app drawer. I don't have supersu in my app drawer, either. And, I'm definitely rooted. Sounds like you are, too.

I just flashed TWRP and it asked me if I wanted to root so I said yes and there you go, a recovery and root.

Hi, i recently won this tablet yesterday and wanted to root it. Have tried pretty much every non computer needed root app out there and none work. Even tried with odin, and i successfully installed twrp....but have no root which i didn't even think was possible lol. But every method for root i see is a few months old before the tab was updated to 4.4.2. So, is there even a root yet for KK? Because I've definitely looked...and if so, please point me in the right direction....thanks! ??
If you have twrp on it, then just flash the supersu zip from chainfire and you'll be rooted.
