BBQScreen: Mirror Glass' screen on your computer - Glass Development

Hey there. Doing my first contribution to the Glass developer community
I'm the developer of an app called BBQScreen, which allows you to mirror your Android device screen on your computer. You got it, Glass is an Android device too! And thus, it turns out that BBQScreen is working pretty well on it too, allowing you to mirror your Glass display on your computer at a reasonable frame rate.
Check the video:
This will probably come handy if you have to do a showcase of Glass in front of a crowd and don't want to share it on your small phone screen, or if you want to show your app to a larger audience on a video projector. You can even use your mouse to simulate touchpad inputs.
The only limitations for now are that your Glass must remain plugged on USB (unless you're rooted and manage to flip on the app switch), and both your computer and your Glass must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
The app is normally a paid app, but I know how hard it can be to deal with grabbing, and pushing APKs to Glass, especially since licensing check is in place. So, for my fellow Glass Explorers, I'll be handing out free copies of the app. If you're interested, just let me know by private message here
Thanks!

Thanks for this! I've already paid for BBQ for my android devices but would love an apk for Glass as well (assuming its different?) I sent you a pm!

ShareKM Glass XE16
There is an android app called ShareKM. It has been abandoned by its developer but there is a small group of people trying to keep it alive. At any rate the point of it is to control and android device from a computer. There is an apk in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52164367 that has made it so I can plug my Google Glass XE16 into a PC over USB and my PCs keyboard and mouse will throw over. So it acts like it sees my Glass as another screen and just walks the mouse and keyboard over!!!!
If your glass is rooted you can use bluetooth or wifi but a direct USB connection really links your PC mouse and keyboard to your glass. It is just like a PC application I love called Synergy. I use synergy to link one keyboard and mouse across a windows box, a Linux box and a Mac box. A three screen computer effect but three different operating systems!
BBQ screen looks great! I just wanted to let people know about this since it seems to be in the same Glass control vein.
Thank you for all of your work!

Awesome framerate, thanks! Will have to try it out later. I did a presentation at one point using Bluetooth and GlassRemote, and the framerate was decent but the device got hot and laggy very quickly, ha.

Looking for an app that will display my screen on a PC

I came from PalmOS, and I miss two apps that I can't find - one is a voice recorder that records both sides of a phone conversation (one that works) and the other is the ability to display my Android's screen on my PC.
Being able to see my phone's screen on a PC helps me with organizing and I miss it alot. If there is an app like that could anyone please give me a link or the proper search terms to find such an app. Android apps have such weird names sometimes and some don't even make sense, or at least to me.
I mean I use a program that I search forever for called "Shoot-Me", I mean really? Can't you simply say Screen Capture?
I had a palm befoe my epic! What one did you have? And you could install a vnc server...I don't think there's anything like pdareach for android
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I had a few Palms, but my last Palm was a 755p, which really did everything I needed but not as polished or powerful in some functions as Android, but it is lacking in what I consider basic function of the two apps that I need.
Call Record and PDAreach. Bummer, I was afraid of that. Your saying that if I install VNC server I will be able to see my Android screen and have the same functions as PDAreach? It seems like I am looking for the opposite - I want to see my Android screen on my PC, NOT my PC on my Android screen cause I can do that, i.e., PC remotely controled from my Android.
If so, can you suggest which VNC server is preferred?

[Q] WinRT tablet as second monitor via Wifi?

Has anyone out there heard of any apps for WinRT that enable you to use the Surface or other RT tab as a second monitor via wifi? I'm thinking along the lines of DiplayLink, Air Display, MaxiVista, etc. for iPad.
I really need something like this, and if no one else is doing it, I'm going to have to put my dev shoes back on and write one. I can't beleive that this hasn't been done yet, but maybe there are some barriers on the WinRT OS side that make this tougher than I'm assuming?
Cheers.

Please do shout if you find one - I could use that as well

Id pay at least 10$ for this app- and im sure that a lot of others would be willing to do the same. Allow me to use my ipad as a 2nd monitor with my Surface - Id pay 20$
You should be able to install a virtual graphics card (similar to http://www.zoneos.com/zonescreen.htm) and then extend the virtual display it gives you over VNC to the VNC client on Windows RT.
I haven't tried/played with that, though.

This looks intriguing - but the warnings about windows 7 blue screen have me a little worried to even attempt to use it using windows 8. Id love to hear if this works - Im not willing to be the guinea pig - I had enough problems getting windows 8 to work on my Thinkpad with unsupported AMD ATI graphics drivers. As it is - I lost all of my power settings, and have no idea how to get them back - Ive seen a forum post recommend a repair installation of windows 8, but I am not confident. I have everything working, all of my software works, my RDP works, I just don't want to screw it up now.

I would love to have this option as well. Is there a way to do it via the hdmi? My pc has hdmi and vga out. I have a monitor hooked up through vga. So would I be able to put the surface in the hdmi spot or is the mini on the surface just out not in?

Seriously need this. I would pay good $$ for an app like this. Please let us know if you make one or find one.

Did an external CAPACITIVE screen just get easier?

I have long since dreamed of a car-puter or workstation that simply my phone expanded. All apps and files would automatically travel with you and the whole system would automatically get upgraded, for free, every time you upgraded your phone.
Mirroring images and sound can be done many ways, but the problem has always been inputs from the larger screen making their way to your phone. There are a few work-arounds with resistive screens, but they look junky, have low sensitivity and don't allow multitouch.
The holy grail has always been full 2-way comm with an external capacitive screen. This is the first time I have ever seen a capacitive screen that lists 10-point capacitive touch as a feature for Android and that has Android drivers downloadable in the 'documents' tab of their product page.
http://lilliputweb.net/capacitive-touch-screen-monitors/7-inch-multi-touch/779gl-70np-c-t.html
Does this really mean what I think it does?!? I know that drivers in android are far from as simple as an executable file in windows. But does this mean that with a little work any of us could make this monitor play nicely with our own devices? Or ideally could a person or two (with more skill than I have) make this monitor plug and play with a common distro like cyanogenmod or the like?
Any thoughts from any of the more experienced minds in these forums would be VERY appreciated. PS. I love this forum and wish I had the time and the chops to add more to it myself, but in the meantime thank you to all contributes. Cheers.

PC Screen Share

Does anyone know if there is a way to mirror the screen onto a PC like Samsung's SideSync?
I use it all the time at work and would hate to lose that functionality. That's the main reason I stay away from the apple products.
Thanks
You can use Vysor for screen sharing and Join for sharing files as well.

[App] sMouse : Use your Note 10 S Pen as an air mouse

Hi,
I'm happy to present what I think is the first Air Mouse app for the Note 10: sMouse.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.kinesthetic.smouse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZI6yBJ3u1c
sMouse is a virtual cursor for your Note 10 that you can control with the S Pen.
sMouse uses the Gyro embedded in the S Pen to detect movement and move the cursor.
To navigate: Hold down the button on the S Pen while keeping the mouse still. This engages 'Warp mode', where you can re-position the cursor, or go back or home.
To scroll: Hold down the button on the S Pen and quickly flick the S Pen up or down to start Scrolling.
Permissions:
The app needs two permissions to operate, these are:
* Overlay permission: This allows the app to draw a virtual cursor over your screen
* Accessibility Service permission: The app needs to be granted the Accessibility Service's 'Gesture' permission so that it can perform clicks, navigate Back and to Home on your device.
Current limitations:
* The S Pen Gyro only works well when the S Pen is held horizontally. If you point the S Pen down (vertically), the gyro can not detect movement, and your cursor won't move.
* The virtual cursor can not move/draw into the system bar at the top of the phone. This is an Android OS security thing where Android will not let apps draw in this space.
This app is just a bit of fun that I made after playing with the S Pen SDK to see what the S Pen could do, and to my pleasant surprise it has a functioning gyro sensor that is readable from the SDK. I've made a good attempt to make this as usable as possible, however it is limited by the hardware in the S Pen.
Thats it. The app is free, no paid versions or advertisements. If you like it please leave a nice review, and maybe checkout my stuff
Hope you enjoy!
Very useful app that you have created. It is very useful. Brilliant work.
ironic that i spoke to someone weeks ago about having an app made like this, wish i was quicker, well done looking forward to test it.
This is great. Seems to work well so far.
This would be a great addition to Dex Desktop while working on a TV. I haven't tested it yet but it seems like a fit made in heaven.
I will try! Great work! Thanks!
Great app and work. Anyone could post a new video showing all the functions?
It could be used like a regular mouse ... Pointing, moving, right and left click ... Except toolbar?

Looks interesting
thanks for your great work, can you please provide us a link for the apk file, for those of us who can't access the play store?
This app save me; I was looking for all kinds of alternatives to use the Gear VR on my note 10 as a cardboard viewer but couldn't remap neither the spen nor the controller to trigger a screen touch (click). With this app I can finally do it.
Only one request, would you send me an apk wich doesn't write the mouse on screen? I always end up putting the mouse on the right and setting the sensitivity to 0 in order to hide it, but when I restart the App it puts it on the center.
A suggestion, make something like this app with the settings I'm telling you and put it in the app store with something like "Spen VR clicker" or something, I know it would be really helpful and many users would download it.

I don't manage to get it working on my note 10+. It's running Android 10.
I think it has to do with the permissions or the s-pen. Can anyone tell me exactly how to set them correctly?
Awesome. Most definitely will be a neat tool to use
