Basic root knowledge here. Basically know enough to follow guides and not much more.
I updated to 4.3 through the OTA a few days ago when I got my cell phone turned on (slits wrists).
Was able to remove knox, root and super user it up thereafter using a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991
Following this success, I'd like to flash a custom rom. I'd prefer CyanogenMod because it's what I love, but if that's not compatible anymore, is there a custom rom I can use that anyone knows of since I actually updated legitly via OTA?
If not, worst case scenario, I'll stick with the rooted stock, but I must know how to remove this darn thing highlighted in red in the image below.

Thanks XDA community. I have been out of the loop while my phone has been shut off due to unemployment and it seems like there's too much that's happened since I was paying attention to make sense of anything now.
From that homescreen hit the options softkey to the left of the home key and hit edit. Then you can delete the unused homescreens hence making the dots go away

Unfortunately, even when all homescreens are removed but the first, there is still a lonely dot taking up that row of screen. I want it gone!

Image disclaimer- The dialer is not as you see in the screen shot, it looked like this when I was doing flashable zips. I am working on a fix to get that great carbon look back, just bear with me.
I do want to thank djdarkknight96 for giving me a boost into theming and helping me get this going!

Yes, I was very pressed to get this one going again. It's been months since I worked on it. Now that summer is over I can get back to some good stuff.

The note 2 is awesome.. ok with that said, do you guys know of a program that will give me ics buttons? I could defintely use a back button thats right by my thumb. Those software buttons would be very handy. Im talkin gabout just the ics back home, multitask buttons Thanks
ps. also as a gs1 user, im used to softly pressing the home, which I tend to do on my note 2 thinking it's software lol. i actually prefer light touches but appreciate the hw button as well
I tried a popular button software from the app store but it was pixelated. (dont remembe rthe name but it was the most popular one with where you pull the ics menu from the left or right side of the screen.) id even pay for it if someone made one thats super clean just like the real thing.

If your phone is rooted you just need to edit build.prop

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! you have successfully unlocked your bootloader :highfive:
No offense to any of you, but posting worthless comments about how this should be here, and no help included won't fix anything.
In a way, if you look at it. Look at it this way. " Custom Boot Screens " ?
Counts for theming in my eyes, although it sounds like a help thread more....
BUT ANYWAYS,
I believe Lloir went over this long ago. I think it was Lloir, but whoever it was said we needed S-OFF before we can actually remove it. Splash Screens, S-off is needed to change that. JMZ sent his device off to some place. Were all hoping for S-off from them. Not 100% we will get it though. But not much of a deal.
The only time you see that screen is booting, which is like 3 seconds on that screen, unless you have a bad rom and your stuck on that screen. Lol.
that's because you flashed and use mod kernel.
if you use stocked, then the red texts won't appear.

Excellent, my suggestion is that you change the dialer and contacts style kit kat
flashed this on a stock tw 4.3 rom and it gave a bootloop. I followed instructions word by word
Sorry guys, I have been very busy that I didn't have a chance to respond to you guys sooner.
I guess, most of you already had the answer.
@ vibrant themer can you do the contact icon like this one

My another phone galaxy tab 3 is lagging very much. Dunno why but even after the restore factory, it continues lagging. Do you guys think rooting will help me out? Need some experts advice.
Sent from my A110Q using xda app-developers app
First of all, try to use Greenify in order to hibernate unwanted bloatware , or try to shut them off using 'app info' for each app (can be reached from system->app management (see attached pic)
Anyway, rooting your device will allow you to completely remove unwanted apps, and to flash custom roms which, most of the time, performs much better than official ones- but in a cost of potentially voiding your warranty...

Should do better than that! I run stock and all is fine. Quite smooth actually. I have removed bloatware now as well. I'm wondering if something is wrong with your tablet. I bought an asus with a quad core and the thing was slower than a turtle. I took it back and got my samsung t310.
Yes stock ROM is fine, with rooted tab and custom kernel runs really nice. The only thing about the rooting is that you loose OTA and with KK comming soon I hope developers will find a workaround !
...enjoy ur Tab 3
