EDIT: Well, it's been a fun week, but it looks like my services are no longer required here. Vanir merged in the webview fix today. Just for grins, I wiped my repo, synced, made no changes, and built for toroplus (see link below). Lo and behold, no black boxes! I would imagine the next nightly from Vanir will contain the fix, so this is the last build from me. Thanks for everyone's support, and especially team Vanir!

Can you give us some screenshots?
Thanks!
Weird VANIR devs aren't using it.
Tested it and it works flawlesly, fastest 4.4 ROM around!
Thanks, and good luck!

My ROM is no different than the official Vanir, other than fixing the webview black box glitches. You can find screen shots and a feature list for Vanir here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2404903 .

Could be, but they weren't in the 12-15-2013 nightly and it was fixed already with CM11 so I got worried.

Huh. I'm still very much in the process of learning here, I've only been doing this for a week. You seem pretty knowledgeable about commits, can you help me track down any that might fix any graphical glitches still present in Vanir 4.4 that have been fixed in other 4.4 ROMs?

The webview black box fix? Nice to meet you by the way! I've tried so many ROMs and Vanir is hands down the fastest 4.3 or 4.4 ROM I've ever encountered. I tried patiently waiting for the official vanir to implement the webview fix for the gnex on 4.4, but last week I was bored on vacation and decided I'd try to do it myself. Hope I haven't stepped on any toes.

Hmm, I was under the impression that the webview fix was already submitted, I was out of the loop for a while working on the hammerhead kernel, but I'll take a look later on today or tomorrow morning.

poo706 presents... LIQUIDSMOOTH - UNOFFICIAL
Question
What, no snazzy name for your ROM?
Answer
It's virtually identical to LiquidSmooth. You can usually dirty flash back and forth between official and unofficial.
Question
Virtually identical? So what's different?
Answer
Unified EXT4/F2FS (INCLUDED STOCK LS KERNEL IS EXT4 ONLY, IT'S UP TO YOU TO FLASH A F2FS KERNEL IF NEEDED)
DeltaJen ROM update patches
Advanced Backup/Restore (details)
CyanogenMod Calculator
Heads up notifications for system apps
Scrolling cache disabled
Navigation bar can be disabled without enabling PIE
Launcher icon for Viper4Android
Removed Dash Clock, cLock, Apollo, Sound Recorder, Kernel Tweaker, and Liquid Updater
Question
What's DeltaJen?
Answer
ROM upgrade patches that are usually less than 10 MB. The /system partition will not be wiped. Unchanged files, files you changed, files you added, and files you removed will be all be ignored.
NOTE: You MUST be on a specific UNOFFICIAL LIQUIDSMOOTH build to use DeltaJen. For example, 10/24 to go to 10/29. You CAN'T use DeltaJen to go from 10/19 to 10/29, but you CAN go from 10/19 to 10/24, then to 10/29.
Question
What gapps should I use?
Answer
I don't think it matters. I recommend Google Apps Minimal Edition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2779598
Disclaimer:
I'm not responsible for your device blowing up, yadda yadda yadda. I do a minimal amount of testing before releasing to ensure that I can dirty flash on my EXT4 toroplus and boot without issue. I do my best to not release broken builds, but I run a pretty minimal setup (ie no hover, themes, etc) and won't test everything. ART and F2FS support will be untested as well. As always make a nandroid just in case.

My builds will be ext4. However, I created a Windows tool yesterday to convert gnex ROMs to F2FS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53618363&postcount=121 . It uses the kernel from the 6/14 F2FS LiquidSmooth build that rkpeterson made. When I get some confirmation that it's working like it should, I'll add a link to the tool in the OP.
[poo]
Yup! thanks for the prompt response.
And yes, I saw your tool yesterday, even tried to convert a rom (LS 6/18, successfuly) but didn't flash it...
Dezfull told me that you need proper commits (vold) in order to fully support F2FS. That's the reason why I didn't flash it, but I'm going to try today! :good:

I've been using converted ROMs on my F2FS Nexus 7 for a while without issue. I know what you're talking about with the proper commits, but I still don't have a firm understand of what you actually gain from those commits. I've seen some people making connections between the vold commits and automatic trimming on F2FS, but that's it.

I'm not modifying anything toolchain related; the ROM is 4.8-sm and the kernel is arm-eabi-4.7. And referring to the bottom of this page: https://github.com/LiquidSmooth/android , I just use -o3.

Introduction
This is a test version of OmniROM with SGX DDK 1.9 graphics drivers, as well as many OMAP-related kernel updates. No, this isn't 3.4, but a LOT of TI updates were packed into the kernel. Currently, this is only for maguro, but anyone can build it for toro/toroplus with the sources.
Click to collapse
Features
The ROM and the kernel has a stock feeling - no mods were added.
Most notable new features:
- SGX DDK [email protected]
- GPU governor
- Enabled 384 MHz GPU frequency (as a part of the OMAP updates)
- Tons of background changes for the kernel

Important notes
Camera and OMX is not working yet! This turned out to be a harder task for me to fix than implementing the new GPU drivers...
Other bugs are not known yet, but there may be some! Bug reports are welcome.
Thanks to everyone who helped me, especially Hashcode, as I used his repos as an example on how to set up things properly.

FAQ
How can I install this?
Just flash the ROM zip (and optionally GAPPS), and you're done.
Can I install this on top of Omni roms?
Yes, you should be able to do so without data loss.
Can I revert to non-1.9 Omni after this without data loss?
Yes.
Is this faster than the current ROMs/kernels?
As this is a stock-like ROM and kernel, not necessarily - there are no optimizations, etc added.
However, if one adds the optimizations used on current custom roms and kernels, this should be faster than them.
Can I install another kernel?
No, the new drivers require the ROM and the kernel side to match each other. Only this combination will work.
When will you fix camera?
I'm trying, but I don't have much success...
Can I help?
Sure, I appreciate any help, as I'm running out of ideas on how to fix camera and OMX.
Can I build this stuff myself?
Of course - everything needed is on my github. You'll need the following repos added to your Omni sources:
omni_android_device_samsung_tuna
omap (newpvr2 branch)
proprietary_vendor_samsung_tuna

Amazing! I will try out tommorow
I've installed it and it feels smooth, I've not encountered any bugs yet. Have you tried removing "kitkat workarounds" from frameworks/native?
Thanks for your awesome work
Nice work! Seems a lot more responsive although it may be placebo effect.
Thanks for posting this, I'm going to try building for toroplus, since we seem to get left out of the excitement so often. My internet connection is slow and so is my computer, so you will probably have everything fixed before I get a chance to even look for bugs.
Great work! I hope you manage to get camera working soon.
Amazing work bro, wishing u best of luck !!
I'm on F2Fs otherwise would have tested this asap...
Awesome work!
Thanks for the amazing work you've brought to the gnex, but since i'm on F2FS i was wondering if you could make a F2FS compatible version of this rom?

Yeah, but the glitches are still there. Actually, that may be a bug in android itself (it affects a lot of devices), they may have fixed it on L... and those workarounds are really not important, as the problem only comes when taking screenshots. And since android takes screenshots for the rotation animation, etc, those glitches appear there as well. The workarounds just force it to take screenshots on CPU-path, they don't change anything else.
I think they fixed it in DDK 1.12 (which is the next version after 1.9), but that's another story, as I think it does not support our GPU (but it may in the future).

Thanks for the amazing work you've brought to the gnex, but since i'm on F2FS i was wondering if you could make a F2FS compatible version of this rom?

Things to note
Same kernel as Ziyan's CM12 (EXT4 only)
F2FS supported on /data and /cache only, /system must be EXT4

Linaro toolchains for both ROM and kernel
Liquid Optimizations
CM12 Theme Engine
Deodexed: First boot will take a long time!
Clear all recents on a regular basis to reduce lag, they survive a reboot!

Great! Thanks for letting me know. I'm kind of flying blind on this one because I have a toroplus, not a maguro, and I can't get it to boot on toroplus yet. What gapps did you use? Also, could you look to see if it's 5.0, 5.0.1, or 5.0.2?
[poo]
if you wait 10 minutes I'll know everything
EDIT: First impressions ... Outstanding !! Really great job. Many customizations, settings has the background of the keyboard, the dark and fantastic material and other customizations excellent, APN set by default ... exceptional speed. Excellent, really great ... I am attaching the screen so all you can do an idea of the rom Proven with FML Gapps mini.
Using liquidsmooth 4 og nexus 5. It is coming out good.
Can't wait to try it on my maguro.
Thanks a lot.

Don't know, to be honest. I can't get it working on my gnex variant yet. I can tell you it's largely CM based and already has some of the options from LS KK, more will be added as time progresses.
[poo]
Just one word: WOW !!!
This is awesome. It's completely functional. Well, except for the well known issues that other ROMs also have at this stage (camera, etc). Plus, lots of familiar LS options and customizabilities
I love my maguro again :]
A big thanks to LS devs and also poo :good:
P.S. can confirm PA GAPPS 5.0.x working (I'm using pico).
Hi
Does the camera have that green tint issue or do the pictures turn out the same as kitkat.
And does this work if system is ext4 and the rest f2fs or does it all have to be ext4?

Don't know about the camera, should be the same as the current situation on cm12. No f2fs at all at the moment.

Wow. It works great on my maguro! I use Minimal Gapps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-google-apps-minimal-edition-t2943330
Anyhow, it feels much snappier than cyanogen and I love the dark paper theme!

Any chance of a toro build? Your work is awesome, Poo.

F2FS Converter tools only for 4.4,right? so, i have to wait for the ext4-compatible kernel. Thanks.
Presenting CM13 unofficial. Built from mostly pure CyanogenMod sources, with a few tweaks that I try to keep updated on my github. This is only possible due to the work of Ziyan and MWisBest.
Instructions
First time flashing CM13 to your toro (or coming from another ROM)?
Unlock & install a recovery
Wipe data & cache partitions
Flash CyanogenMod.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
Updating from a previous build?
Just install the latest ROM zip. If you had Google Apps installed, they will be reinstalled automatically.

Yeah sorry about that, my upload failed, trying again...
Edit: I'm having problems uploading to xda, trying another option...
There is no download for this. Cannot wait to try this out.
I might give this a try while I wait for my GNexus to die. I want to get my hands on Lollipop and can't wait for my N6.

XDA keeps giving me a server IO error, after uploading the whole file. I'm still trying to get a good upload either to xda or to another hosting site.
Finally a successful upload!

Synced with cm's latest sources as of 12-31-2014. I'll be working on toroplus for a bit, trying to get ril to behave properly there, so toro will be waiting for a maybe a week, unless there are any exciting new features or bug fixes.
@musical_chairs, I'm the gnex maintainer for LiquidSmooth. I have LP maguro builds that are all good, but my toro builds don't have data, and my toroplus builds don't have voice or data. I think I have toroplus figured out and I'll know with a test build that'll be done in a few hours. With toro, though, MW and I are stumped. Would you mind sharing details on how you got CM12 toro data working?

Sure! I'm currently stuck with toroplus, ril is completely broken, no service of any kind. I'd be interested in knowing how you got that working.
For data on toro, I picked these commits from MWisBest's github:
https://github.com/MWisBest/android...mmit/7611a40b233517384d56d1f93caa7fd836c376af
https://github.com/MWisBest/proprie...mmit/5d70b4a8d019d60102432ca29f738e6e7c39a978
I also added some stuff to system.prop, patch is attached to this post. Again, I take no credit for it, it's copied from MWisBest.

If I manage to get toroplus going, I'll certainly relay that back to you.
I've also applied those same commits from MW, and I'm pretty sure I'm using all the same build.prop entries. What was your starting point? device_samsung_toro from CM? What I did (at ziyan's advice) was start with the latest JB-era repo from google, apply like 5 commits from Ziyan's maguro repo, then the MW stuff.

There is supposed to be mobile data, it works here. I don't think I did anything special to get it working, though I did mess around a bit with some settings (Testing menu settings, APN settings) on my first few builds and haven't done a clean flash real recently.
I'm new to this phone. I thought you could just flash like I did on my note 2 i605. If mobile data works I want some 5.0
It looks like I had the same issue as zzpianoman on his cm12 build. If you flash his APN fix, you should get working data:
