CyanogenMod 10.2 + Franco Kernel r394 Battery Drain - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi everyone,
I'm new to modding and recently just started flashing ROMs on my GNex having it for close to 2 years.
I've read and heard that franco Kernel improves battery life and performance.
I tried CyanogenMod because it seems like a popular and stable rom.
However, when I flashed them onto my GNex, I noticed that my battery drains quicker. I'm not sure if I'm more sensitive to it because now I can see a number indicator for my battery. But I had instances where even when I'm plugged in and just using the phone (I think just surfing the net), I would lose charge.
Is that because CyanogenMod does not work well with franco Kernel?

is there a Rom/Kernal that is generally accepted to be the go to for awesome battery?

i did some searches in the forum, read up on saving battery tips, i hope i didnt just wake a sleeping beast. its not my first forum i have been on.
i was just wondering if in the community there is a generally accepted Rom/Kernal (i know they arent interchangeable) that is a must have for keeping ICS stock and increasing battery time to amazing levels. thanks for your input peeps!
Am running the Gummy Rom 0.7.0 with Imoseyon 1.8.0 kernel..i tried them all this seems to have the best battery for me,,Ive haven't messed with any overclocking or anything,,its awesome for me..
It is all different device to device for kernels at least.
Most people swear on Franco.kernel but I don't have much luck with it. I use GLaDOS.
A lot of people will say AOKP is the best rom for battery but I believe that is just because a lot of people use AOKP in general.
The stock kernel gets amazing battery.
i like the name of GLaDOS =D....ill do some research into it, thanks!
ill look into gummy rom as well...
do you guys think you are getting better bat life with the ROM you are using vs the stock one?
AOKP + Franco Kernel (or GLADOS)
and its also kernel not kernal (just for correction!)
the roms have a part in battery life..even as themes...sometimes darker themes use less brightness, less pixel use theoretically should use less battery..also my brightness is down to 25 to 30 range. brightness on these large screens kill battery....even the nexus stock is basically the same as far as battery...I think it really depends how much usage your doing....

I think it all depend on your usage, not on the rom
i definately agree with you guys on usage dictates battery life, i can make my phone last all day or kill it in 3hrs. i just wasnt sure if there is a gods kernel (thank you zephiK) that makes it last an awesome amount of time or what people see a huge improvement from heavy use.
i recommend android open kang project AOKP and franco's kernel
i noticed that with stock settings and no UV (yet) my phone has much better battery
currently 11hr 52 mins at 62%, however alot of that is standby time, with some texting and voice calls
franco kernel has a great battery life IMO

I have had improved battery life using this combination as well, and I use it pretty regularly throughout the day.

Crazy Battery Drain on New Radios

Anybody else notice the battery draining much faster since the new 4.0.4 Radios? I'm on AOKP M5 with Lean Kernel and usuall get great battey life but it's really bad since I flashed the new radios.

CM 10.0.0 Stable Battery Life

Hi Folks
I recently got a T989. I am with Bell in Canada but the phone is from Koodo. I have flashed the UVLE1 radio.
I flashed the CM 10.0.0 Stable and everything works well except the battery life is less than 12 hours and it takes extremely long to charge (very slow).
Could somebody please suggest some modifications I could make. I would like to stay on this rom if possible but will change if some other rom can offer better battery life and same stability.
Thanks
CM10 does not have usb fast charge so unless you use only the official charger It will charge like molasses. Try one of the kernels with usb fast charge enabled and you might end up resolving both your problems. Either of the CM 10 kernels should yield better battery life if set properly(governor and scheduler). I personally prefer liquid smooth as my top 4.1 Rom and it has an option to run usb fast charge on the stock kernel so its no need to flash another kernel. Now I'm running 4.2.2 Pac and I must say its awesome and battery is not that bad for the features you get. Hope I helped
You definitely helped... thanks so much! I will check out liquid smooth and pacman as well!
Would you have a link to the kernel thread... i checked in the android development section but cannot find them.
Thanks
So the cerux kernel is not for Cm 10.0.0 which from what i understand is the last stable version.
So I was wondering if there is any other kernel I can use with Cm 10.0.0 which has fast charge and better battery life?
Or is there a new stable version of Cm like 10.1 or something that I don't know about.

Best Custom Rom for Stability and Battery

Hello,
What Custom Rom you guys think its best for Battery Life and Stability?
I've been using CM11 for the last few months and now im Trying Omnirom. They are both stable and use the same battery.
I cannot try every rom, so im asking here for your opinion.
I very much doubt battery life would be any different because of ROM version.
It has more to do with individual usage patterns
&
BT On/active/streaming
Brightness level/Auto
Data On/updates/push services
Calls talk time
Text/chat apps
Wi-Fi/Hotspot on/active
I'd say if your getting nearly 2h's of screen on time then the ROM is just fine.
There may be others getting more, but it all depends on how you use your device.
I don't mind charging my phone 2-3 times throughout the day(to help keep it topped up), I don't use Wi-Fi since I have unlimited data, unless it's for a large occasional download (testing new ROM/apps) have auto app updates and push services on) and leave BT on to automatically connect to my car stereo and start streaming music and also always leave auto brightness on.
Personally, I have tried lot's of different Custom Roms, and to be honest, none of them are as good as Stock 4.3 in terms of battery life and stability. Yes, other ROMs offer additional features and Android Versions that would otherwise be unavailable, but are mostly less stable, more laggy and have worse battery life. If you want customisation, you can root and use Xposed Framework.
That said!.. the best custom ROM that I have used is both FML Kitkat and FML Lollipop by MWisBest.

Recently I went back to 4.2.2 (Verizon) because no roms I could find had decent battery life. I started using greenify to help with memory, as I find that soon as it gets to about 100mb free, the lag is terrible.
So in your opinion FML Kitkat vs stock on battery is worse? I briefly tried FML Lolipop but felt it was too early in dev and buggy
thx,
riz

Yeah, I've always found that stock Jelly Bean has the best battery life. But your experiences may vary with usage.
I have used CM11, PA, Shiny ROM and FML so far. I cannot compare them to stock, since I haven't used stock due to lack of customization features.
IMO, Shiny ROM + Dirty V Kernel with Nephilim's settings had the best battery life. On standby, my phone ran for more than 2 days without a single charge. Performance was decent, although I wouldn't say that it was ideal.
I'm currently running on the latest FML Lollipop + Smitty L Kernel with Nephilim's settings. The battery life is decent, with about a day and a half standby time. Performance is fantastic. If you value both battery life AND performance, you might as well give this a try, as it is definitely worth the effort.

Looking for custom kernel to OC on CM13

On the rooted stock ROM I had a fair bit of lag in certain apps (mainly the stock messenging app) as well as lots of heating problems. I recently switched to CM 12.1, and a couple of days ago I jumped to CM 13. I've had zero overheating problems and my battery life has been better by a fair margin. Obviously the heating was wreaking havoc on the battery.
Now that its running great, I'm looking to tweak it a little more to stave off getting a Nexus 6P! Does anyone know a good custom kernel for overclocking that works well on CM 13?
Thanks!
