Can someone please explain in A CLEAR AND CONCISE WAY AND IN SEQUENTIAL ORDER (ie explain it to me in stupid, i'm a noob )how to EXTRACT the RADIO/MODEM AND PLACE IT IN A FLASHABLE .ZIP FILE from stock firmware 4.0.4 kernel version 3.0.8 baseband version T989UVLI1. I just got my replacement T989 today and I wanted to share the new radio with the community.:highfive: before i flashed a custom rom. I seen that a couple of you were interested in another thread and hopefully y'all could help. Possibly this could be stickied if executed properly?

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm trying to extract the radio.img from another device, but it seems like the steps wouldn't differ much.
Nope.

I'm pretty sure there is a thread in the dev section with all the radios in flashable zips.

Great, quick question. Did you flash the modem too or just the kernel?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Just the kernel
Anyone tried perseus kernel with this rom?
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda premium
I installed it and found nothing special about it.
So I can just flash this without flashing modem or kernel?

You can, but it'd be easier to just flash the kernel after.

bro, I know my limits, lol. just want to make sure that I don't brick my phone. hopefully my questions and the respective answers/responses from more experienced users will benefit all.
Works fine as is with no kernel swap. Full wipe.

Right now I'm running rooted TW and was planning on installing RC4 but RC5 dropped before I got a chance. Being a wary person I've given it a few days to see if there's any major issues. From what I can tell, to get the best results, I should install RC4 then RC5 or should I only do it if I have issues.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I clean flashed RC5 and haven't run into any problems.
Just flash RC5 straight off the bat. Its built into the script to wipe /system, so it won't matter if you flash RC4 first anyway.
Yea reading back on a lot of the posts i realized a lot of them mentioned they used twrp and i use cwm. Not sure if that matters but I always hear cwm is better.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Yeah, just install it clean off, I don't think there are very many serious differences between TWRP and CWM, at least not any that will ruin your Cyanogenmod install. Remember to flash the Gapps, I forgot my first time on AOSP.
Why is it necessary to install Gapps? In what order do you flash Gapps before installing Cyanogenmod or after. And were can I find it for my phone sph-L710.
Thank you.

Usually where ever you find your aosp rom they usually provide a link to the gapps download. You will flash the rom and right after flash the gapps then reboot.
If there's no gapps download link just Google search gapps you will find the goo download page with all the gapps for the different systems, make sure you select what you need.
The only roms you need to flash gapps with are aosp style roms because they are not licensed to carry the google apps.

I'll probably flash one of the latest nightlies, I'm not a power flasher so l've been reading the forms religiously in an attempt not to brick another phone.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Go for it, the nightlies are really quite stable, usually. Just read the posts to the thread for it to see if there are any serious bugs, chances are other people will have flashed it before you and posted their problems. Even then, most of the problems are just bugs that are usually tolerable, at the most minor inconveniences.
RC5 is running very nice for me, so far I've found no bugs and everything seems to be working.

Hey, I've been reading around and saw that it was possible to flash I9505 roms on our T Mo S4s?
If so, please explain to me how?
Would I just flash the rom and then flash a T Mobile Kernel of my choice?
Or would I download the rom and an sgh m919 kernel and move it into a file in the rom?
Just kinda confused, any info would help, thanks.

For most popular 4.2.2 ROM (Omega 9.0), just flash the ROM with recovery and a M919 kernel (if you want WiFi). Did not wipe - it worked good, but if issues - then wipe and try again.
For the 4.3 leaks - no kernel available, but it worked pretty good when I simply flashed it. If you want Root, flash SuperSU 1.41 on top of the ROM in recovery - easy with TWRP.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean now
No he flashed D-Kernel. I would guess that that problem is caused of you outdated stock rom you have mb2 right? That was the first JB leak with many bugs etc. I prefer you to flash a newer stock rom for exemple MG2 or MF1 they are more stable and have fewer bugs.

Yes, I flashed D-kernel and then phone started to be slow and touchscreen stoped working. Then i tryed to flash it again with rom mb2 but it didn't help. Now i tryed it with mg1 and it didn't help again. I also tryed flash these kernels: Kernel_XXMF1.tar Kernel_XXMC8.tar
So, I'll try roms what you told me. Thanks for advice. BTW: Where i can find them please?
