modem zip please help - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I have the extracted mk2 modem.bin from the stock tar file.
I want to flash the new modem to my wife's m919, but unfortunately I don't know how to make a flashable zip for the modem only.
Any help or leads to some knowledge specific for the m919 would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance.
BTW the mk2 modem.bin file can be found here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sauzqmvi6x5eblk/modem.bin
Md5 = c4b3d2dd0e24f48d208bc3987f163b5f
The file is 49.65 mb

That why I was asking for help to make cwm/twrp flashable zip, so I can just flash it.
I know it's possible I just don't know where to start and was looking for someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks for your post though.

It's not possible. It has been attempted in the past. All modems are to be installed using Odin. Look in the forums, someone made a flashable zip for the modem. Won't work.
Good luck though

New modem installed.
Thanks

In order to save my phone, I need the modem flash for file t889 that can be used with Odin and not CWM. Please advise.
Unzip CWM version , you will have Zimage ( Odin file). If I'm not wrong.

thanks for the suggestion. However, in the zip file there's the modem.bin, and the flash_image file and a folder with other stuff. I am uncertain which one to extract. (yes, I am googling this as I ask.)
the modem.bin file is the one you need. would you mind posting a link to the CWM zip you have of the modem? been looking for it..
My experience with Odin and modem cross-flashing is that is fails before writing anything. (T889-LJ1 on T889, T889V-LJ4 on T889V and so on should work. Other partitions made with this method work flawlessly, so I'm guessing there's an additional check in the bootloader for modem images.)
Anyway, here goes. Those files were made by extracting from their respective Odin images, from Sammobile and tarring with the Cygwin tar binary.

[Q] No voice

To make a long story short I was in CM11 and when trying to restore to stock I tripped the Knox Counter. I no longer have voice or audio. I tried to restore to other custom roms with same issue. I tried downloading stock tmobiles images and am unable to restore with odin. Question after triggering the Knox does that not allow me to even restore a stock rom or is my issue some place else? Any help?
It's my understanding you can not Odin back to MDL but you should be able to Odin the MK2 firmware.

If you are sure that you tripped the knox counter this is how to fix the audio issue.
Download the official M919 STOCK 4.3 MK2 firmware/rom from http://SamMobile.com .
(filename: M919UVUEMK2_M919TMBEMK2_TMB.zip inside zip is the tar file)
Then Odin flash the tar in Odin's PDA slot.
After you odin flashed the 4.3 MK2 successfully see if the audio/sound/voice is good.
If it's not then download the latest KToonsez 12-12-2013 kernel and flash it using
cwm/twrp recovery. (after the phone is rooted)
Here is the direct download link for KToonsez kernel:
https://copy.com/kEWuwwaGj8j2/TW%20JB%204.3%20Versions/KT-SGS4-JB4.3- TW-TMO-12.12.2013.zip?download=1
Before you can cwm/twrp flash the kernel or any cwm/twrp flashable zip file you need to
be rooted.
Here is the direct download link for the odin flash CF-AUTOROOT:
http://download.chainfire.eu/328/CF...jfltetmo-jfltetmo-sghm919.zip?retrieve_file=1
It's always best in any case to flash the KToonsez kernel after flashing new roms.

I am having the same issue as the OP. But my understanding is, with Knox (which I unfortunately seem to have acquired, my fault) I cannot use Odin to flash a tar file.
You can still flash. You may trip the counter and you can't flash back to 4.2, but Odin still works.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
At this point knox is already tripped, and that's okay. But to resolve my loss of sound and voice I would have to use Odin to flash a T-Mo 4.3 tar, such as the one above? This will flash everything, including modem, right?
Could i also Odin flash the full TMo 4.3 modem with the same results?

Here are the step by step instruction on how to get the MK2 modem.bin
baseband flashed successfully.
Here is the way to fix the audio issue you are having.
This will ONLY fix your audio issue if your baseband is MDL
so check your baseband by going to Settings>More>About device
and scroll down after clicking About device til you see baseband.
It will either have MK2 or MDL in it. If it's MDL then your
audio issue can be fixed by following the instructions below.
You can Odin flash MK2 while on an Wicked v9.1 4.2.2 rom or ODIN
flash it after flashing the Wicked v9.1 4.3 or other M919 based 4.3 roms.
Either way it makes no difference.
What does make a difference is to follow this step by step exactly to a "T".
#1: Manually power down the phone using the power button only
#2: Start ODIN and put the MODEM.BIN file into ODIN'S PHONE slot/tab.
#3: Put the phone into download mode by using the volume down and power button only.
#4: Plug the USB cable into the phone and into the computer.
#5: Make sure that ODIN'S [COM:xx] lights up.
#6: Un-Check the Auto-Reboot in ODIN and click START.
#7: After its done flashing unplug the usb cable.
#8: Manually power off the phone using the power button.
#9: Wait 20 or so seconds before you power on the phone.
After doing this the MK2 baseband should show up in About Device.
Here is the direct download link for the Tmobile 4.3 M919 MK2 modem.bin:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/1g...l89x/modem.bin
After your baseband displays MK2 you don't need to do anything,
the phone will then be ready to use with all it's bells and whistles.
I would highly suggest that you make a nandroid backup in TWRP recovery before you
change any settings, installing or flashing any apps, mods, themes or anything else.
Good luck!

If you have MK2 baseband then you should have proper audio, no audio issues at all
and the rest of your phone should be working fine since it's already rooted and the
phone has the best custom recovery already flashed in it.
Be sure to make a nandroid backup using Twrp recovery before downloading,

Figured out the problem. So the MK2 Tar file I had was the culprit. I redownloaded the file from a different source, re-extracted the Tar and used Odin to reflash the tar file. Funny, the first file did not have a MD5 mismatch and did flash a modem. Well, whatever the issue was, I am glad it was resolved. Thanks for all your help guys.

[Q] How to 'debrand' the SGH M919?

Hi!
I got a SGH M919 (T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4) and I just can not find a stock Samsung ROM for it.
How do I debrand it and bring it to a non-branded version of ROM? I don't prefer custom ROMs so, is there any stock Samsung ROM out there which I can flash on this to get rid of the T-Mobile branding and all its apps?
p.s. I am not sure if this question has been raised before because I browsed through the forums but could not get an answer.
Short answer, yes. You could flash the international I9505 firmware. Just make sure modem and kernel is that of tmobile.
Yes the question have been raised before.

Hey, thanks a lot for the reply!
3 questions:
1. Wont flashing the i9505 firmware brick my phone?
2. How do I use tmobile kernel and modem? Im an uber noob at this so dont know how to do this. Is there any thread on this topic?
3. I have currently unlocked my phone to work on non-T Mobile network with help of a thread I found on xda. Will flashing firmware for i9505 make it locked on tmobile again?

1) i9505 has the same hardware as the m919 so flashing the firmwares won't brick your phone. The radios, modems, etc, those are all different, which is why you need to flash a T-Mobile kernel after you're done flashing the i9505 firmware.
2) You are already on the MK2 modem/bb. You can flash one of the MANY kernels available. Check here and look for the threads that have the [KERNEL] tag in it. Simply download one of them to your phone, go into recovery, click on "Install zip from sdcard" and click on the file you downloaded. Most of the threads have instructions on how to do it if you're not too comfortable.
3) No, unlock is not firmware based. Flash any roms you want, just make sure you flash a tmo kernel afterwards.
Good luck and hope that helps.
Worth noting; whatever ROM you decide to flash, make sure you use a custom recovery to flash and not Odin. The Odin images for other carriers will likely brick the device because they come with the modem, radio, etc.

Thanks a lot! Will make sure of that. Just for my knowledge: I downloaded a carrier-free ROM from samfirmware (I9505XXUEMKF_I9505AUTEML1_AUT - Switzerland) and was going to most likely use CWM to flash it on my cell - will I have an option while flashing to not flash the modem, radio, etc.? Or when I flash, the modem and radio etc. will not be getting flashed automatically? (this might be a dumb question so please bear with me!)

You won't have to worry about it if you're installing the ROM by itself. It won't be affected. As long as you just install a Tmo kernel and the ROM of your choice, you'll be good. The modem and etc are separate unless for some god awful reason the Dev decided to throw it all into one zip. I have never seen this nor do I think it even exists. When installing the ROM you won't have to worry about the modem. Dude, just make sure to do a backup and you'll be fine. Good luck

If the file ends with tar.md5 it's an Odin package and should be avoided. If it ends with .zip though it's CWM-flashable and, speaking for XDA's ROMs, won't include modem, baseband, bootloader, etc.

I actually prefer stock samsung ROMs over customs ROMs so I downloaded the one I mentioned from samfirware.
Now as for flashing a T-Mobile kernel is concerned, I was going through the kernels on xda and they all seem to be custom with tweaks done to the hardware clocks, etc. Is it possible to flash a 'stock' T-Mobile kernel on the 4.3?
Btw, I am not able to flash the stock ROM (in .zip format) that I downloaded from samfirware using CWM. It gives me this error: "Installing update... Installation aborted." How do I flash a stock ROM downloaded from samfirmware (using CWM)? I am being advised not to use ODIN (due modem etc issues), so what do i do? I reiterate, i don't prefer the custom ROMs.

Samfirmware downloads are in zip format and you have to extract them to get the .tar.md5 file. That .tar.md5 file HAS to be done through Odin. You can't use those in CWM. The CWM ones are the ones you find on these forums.

The point I'm trying to get across is to not use Odin to flash anything that's not specifically meant for your device. It looks like he's trying to use the stock Odin-flashable firmwares for the i9505 which would be bad... Any of the CWM-flashable ROMs in the i9505 (not i9500) are good to go.

Um, guys, my question still seems to be unanswered: since samfirmware roms are not cwm flashable, WHERE do i find non-odin flashable stock rom? Is it even possible? I downloaded samfirmware stock rom because of the very first reply to my thread which mentioned it.
And my second question: is there a stock t mobile kernel i can use instead of the custom 'tweaked' ones?
Forget about the firmware you downloaded from sammobile it will brick your device go to the i9505 section here in XDA and download one from there and then flash it in CWM then the Tmo kernel and your done.

[Q] Need Modem firmware for unlocking SGH-T999 on 4.1.2

Hello,
I am a noob and trying to unlock SGH-T999 currently on 4.1.2 . Reading all forums, I learned that I have to downgrade to 4.1.1 . Also I read that I need to downgrade the modem , unlock , then upgrade the modem. I also managed to root the phone.
My problem is locating the files, everywhere I find is full spam and etc including Sammobile
I appreciate if someone can provide me a link that I can find the two modems I need.
Thank you in advance.
The only thing you need is to downgrade the modem.. You can either do a full downgrade to 4.1.1 or just downgrade the modem to LJA.. I don't know where you have been searching to locate these files but everything you need is in the development or general threads
Edit: they're all in the development thread and stickied

Thank you very much, I located them on development thread. Before I was on other sites that would end up being spam or all kinds surveys before they give the download link.
Just to clarify, I use the odin to flash the 4.1.1 ( Nov 2012) LJA modem, and after unlocking , I have to revert back to MD5. Is this right?
Also I see LJC modem for 4.1.1 ( Jan 2013 ) . Which one is better to use ?
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
No, you use custom recovery to flash the modems.. And I would flash LJA.. LJC was kind of iffy for some.. If you don't want to use custom recovery then flash LJA firmware via Odin, and after you do the unlock, flash MD5 with Odin

My friend,
Flashing with odin failed: I selected Phone and pointed to the LJA.bin and AUTO Reboot was checked. Luckily the phone is still ok. Now, if I use custom recovery, which file should I point to as I do not see a DOT TAR file in the Modem zip files .
Thank you for your help.
No, you flash the zips with custom recovery, you do not extract them and flash the bin with Odin.. So you can use a custom recovery and flash the zip or download the LJA firmware and flash Odin.. The firmware is the one that will be a TAR file.. Luckily your phone didn't brick

It worked great from custom recovery, unlocked the phone , inserted ATT sim card, and it saw the AT network with the correct APN and etc. And now I am back on MD5. The actual unlocking thing took 10 min, and I spent about 6 hours researching it. Good learning experience though!
Thank you very much for your help..

[Q] Need help with hyperdrive

sorry if i posted in the wrong forum area...this is my first post. I need help removing hyperdrive and installing stock rom. I have the SGH i747m from rogers. I have no idea how i installed hyperdrive believe it or not. My friend kinda helped me alot with it. And i have no idea how to revert back to the original version of touchwiz/Android.
Download your firmware from http://sammobile.com/firmwares
Flash with Odin v3.04 or v3.09.
There are tons of guides for how to flash firmware with Odin, so I'm not gonna rewrite another here. You can find Odin download links in my sig. There's also a firmware thread linked there. You can use it for general instructions since the process is exactly the same. Just don't use the firmware linked there.
It was written based on Odin v3.04 so you may want to use that.
