[Q] Stuck in bootloop, tried (almost?) everything - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

The background story: Was having a lot of FC issues with Beanstalk 4.4, along with other things like battery life/signal that I was growing to be unhappy with and decided to flash one of the 4.3 ROMs with Note 3 features on the fly. I didn't have signal after doing so (didn't read all the comments so I do know this is all my fault) and thought that I would have needed to flash the 4.3 bootloader that was suggested in the OP since using the modems I had on hand did not help.
End result, phone was perpetually stuck in bootloop.
Symptoms: Doesn't go past the Samsung splash screen with the logo flashing. Even when plugging it in it's stuck on the empty battery with the loading wheel.
Attempted solutions:
I have tried the EFR attempt but could not get Kies to recognize my Note II in downloading mode. Kies is currently updated to the lastest 2.6.1.x.x.x
The emergency code option isn't viable since I don't have one(?)
Flashed the appropriate stock ROM (for Bell SGH-I317M) through Odin as it was recognized, but still cannot get past bootloop.
Tried firmware upgrade and initlization instead, PC cannot download firmware to device
Attempted to flash other ROMs both stock and whatnot through CWM. Doesn't seem like it'll take anymore AOSP mixed/based ROMs as they all fail?
With all of these attempts I have pulled out the battery for a little bit prior to actually performing the restoration.
Hopefully somebody can point out a mistake or something I need to do instead.
And as a side note, the Galaxy S2 is too damn small and Windows phones (Lumia 1020) kind of....suck.

Bump. Hopefully somebody can point something I missed.

Have you tried Odin to stock then wiping all user data/ factory reset?

Attempting to wipe anything other than cache in CWM gives me an error mounting.

If you Odin to stock it would have factory recovery on it, not cwm, Odin to factory then under stock recovery wipe data factory reset

[Q] Chainfire 3D brick :(

Hello guys, i need serious help with my Samsung Galaxy S3, I just rooted today, and everything was working fine.
I decided to download chainfire 3d, thought i'd enable some unstable games to run, but quite the opposite my phone is now BRICKED.
I tried re-flashing my rom with ODIN, but to no help, the phone remains bricked.
I read some tutorials how to flash using the 'transfer to sd card from PC' rom. But there is another problem..
My pc doens't recognize my phone completely(icon doesn't show in My computer - winows 732bit).
Now im stuck at the Samsung logo, with no other options but hope someone here can help.. ..
Ps; I tried cleaning the cache and dalvik cache from CW mode. Anything else im missing out??..
When you Odin did you wipe data / factory reset after or before? Usually when you Odin and didn't wipe data in recovery mode you will get stuck at the Samsung boot up. So try going back to recovery and do a factory reset /wipe data and see if it boots up pass samsung logo.

In fact i dont even know if I'm doing it correctly, i only flash one file, the one i ROOTED with. its in the PDA location. I will try to wipe before and after..
Edit: I used ODIN and then i wiped data/factory reset from CW, and still stuck at the boot logo
I also got this error on my PC, MTP USB device did not install correctly. I downloaded the drivers from the official t-mobile support page, so i don't think its the Pc's fault. .
Any ideas?

Try wiping data and see if it works. I it should pass the Samsung logo boot up.

Doesn't work.
Should i try to format my /data, /sdcard, etc, from the CW menu?.
Is there a risk in doing that?, I dont mind losing my data as long i get the phone back running.
EDIT: I flashed Odin, and it seems to be working now, I'm only left to wait for the phone to pass the bootloop.
what I had forgotten was to flash the stock firmware after i do the CW mode. Lets hope for best, I'll edit this post if it works.
EDIT 2: IT WORKS!. I'd post links to the stock firmwares, but not sure if that is allowed on the site. Anyway just google galaxy s3 stock firmware download.

I have an i747 and after a week of research and trail and error I was able to get back to a factory working phone. I wanted to share my findings so that the next person may get up and running a bit quicker. First off, my phone was never rooted. I was getting it ready to sell and was going to factory reset it when I realized I forgot the system password. So I installed Kies and proceeded to factor rest it there. For whatever reason the reset did not take and after several failed attempts with kies the phone began to boot in ODIN mode. I built a USB jig and was able to get back into download mode but nothing would bring it back to life. Downloading the official rom from sammobile and flashing with ODIN3.07 would fail every time. Emergency recovery in kies also failed. So here was my final approach that worked. Maybe the wrong way to do this, maybe the long way to do it.. IDK.. but it worked for me..
1) get the official Samsung files from kies (google -"does kies store firmware")
2) boot do download mode
3) flash CSC file with auto reboot and F. reset time checked
4) boot do download mode
5) flash PDA file with auto reboot and F. reset time checked
6) boot do download mode
7) flash Modem file with auto reboot and F. reset time checked
* I closed ODIN between each step, might be overkill.
** I did not flash the bootloader file
I have read that it takes a long time the first boot, and I have been waiting 15 minutes at the SAMSUNG screen but it is still pulsing so i think it is still processing. If it is still at this screen in the morning, I will let you all know but this is further than I have been in over a week.
On a side note, when it crashed I took this into AT&T they told me over the past month or so they have seen numerous people with the same issue. All from doing a factor rest in Kies. My phone was out of warranty and they barely looked at it before asking me to upgrade. I took it to BestBuy and they fixed it from booting to ODIN mode but it still locked up on the AT&T logo, so I was back to square one.
Food for thought. How about waiting to see if your instructions actually work on your phone before posting them here for people with similar issues to use. Kind of useless if it doesn't end up working, huh?

Seems a pretty long route to take. If you are on an Odin flashable firmware version (e.g. 4.1.1), you only need to flash one partition - PDA. This updates all partitions to stock including bootloader, modem, recovery, kernel. The newer firmware versions - 4.1.2 & 4.3 are, however, not Odin flashable. Also, if you couldn't do a factory reset from settings because of password issues, you could have booted into recovery mode and done a factory reset there. This wouldn't require a password and would still have the same effect of wiping data and returning to factory settings.
If your phone is stuck at the Samsung screen for 15 minutes, then it's stuck. Reboot into recovery mode and try a reset there. If this doesn't work, then it means you have a soft brick you need to restore your firmware via custom recovery. Your phone is never hard bricked when you can get to download and recovery modes. Flash custom recovery via Odin in download mode. Reboot to custom recovery and flash a clean, complete stock image for 4.3. That's your best option now since you are selling

So like the true repository of knowledge we have here, Larry you are correct.. After about 30 minutes I decided it was really stuck.. So this time I watched the process I described above a bit more closely and as you stated the PDA file is all i needed.. but I had tried several from different sources including the office from sammobile and they always crashed. So what eventually worked for me was after being stuck at the samsung logo...
I booted into recovery mode
wiped the cache
factory reset it
then flashed with the Kies PDA file that I obtained in Kies in emergency recover mode.
This finally worked.
and as stated was a shorter route to take. The PDA that i used had 4.1.1 on it.
Thanks for the clarification in the fact that flashing with the PDA takes care of the bootloader, cache, file system, etc.

excitement over came me.
Still having issues
Ok, keepers of knowledge.. I have a phone that will boot up but I have no baseband version. It shows unknown.. I have tried just flashing the modem file but i still do not get it back.. if I try to flash anything other than the official files from kies, ODIN fails. My phone is now at 4.1.1, build JR003L.I747UCDLK3.
If I try to update via wifi with the software updater, it says I am up to date. If I try to update with Kies, it fails..
I am at a loss...
Please help..
Thanks in advance..

[Q] N7100 stuck at boot screen after flashing stock 4.4.2

Hi all, hope somebody can rescue me!
I have an N7100. It's been running stock ROM 4.1.2 for ages (rooted). I've rooted and loaded ROMs on a fair few devices over the years, but typically by following step-by-step guides - I'm a noob to all intents and purposes.
Last night I decided to upgrade to 4.4.2.
I did it without performing a wipe first.
Backed up apps and settings using Titanium Backup Pro
Downloaded N7100XXUFNE1 from Sammobile (sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=32635)
Loaded it via Odin 3.9
It worked, in a fashion, maintaining most of my data and apps etc, but I couldn't get wifi to turn on and I kept getting error messages saying '[App X] could not be loaded'
I decided to bite the bullet and do a factory reset (by booting into recovery).
I still couldn't get wifi to work, but my bootloader had stayed at ME3, so I decided to apply the latest bootloader (ND3) as I read somewhere that this could be the issue (I wasn't overly concerned about Knox as the phone is almost 2 years old now anyway).
I applied it via ODIN again, except loading the file into the 'BL' section rather than the 'AP'.
Since doing that, it's stuck at the boot screen 'Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100' and the only way to get out of it is to pull the battery.
I can got into 'Download Mode' but not into 'Recovery Mode'.
I have tried applying MJ5 bootloader.
I have tried reinstalling the whole stock again ROM again
I have tried applying Philz_Touch_6.07.9-n7100 recovery
All show as having completed successfully in Odin, but none of them changed anything - I'm still stuck at the boot screen
Does anybody have any ideas of what else I might try?
Thanks

Have you tried flashing TWRP instead? This happened to me and got stuck on recovery boot, CWM and Philz Touch wonb't load. Flashed TWRP and worked like a charm.
I am having similar problem.
Tried to flash the TWRP Recovery from THIS via Odin.
Still phone isn't going past the Galaxy Note II logo.

It processes OK and Odin says 'Pass!', but then it automatically restarts and gets stuck at the boot screen again. Still can't boot into recovery mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just tried that, but unfortunately it just does the same thing ....
Man do this.....
Get older odin (personally my preferance nothing else)
Flash the latest stock rom that u have
It will say pass and the device will go into bootloop
Now remove battery any stick it in (just to stop bootloops)
Enter recovery (that shld be stock now)
And do a factory reset
If no recovery......get a custom one and do it
Then let the phone do its thing:good::good:

If u have any wifi or other issues.....flash the new bootloader. ....with AP not the BL...and done....
Hope this helps......cheers:good:

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried doing just that (although not on an older version of Odin) and it hasn't helped, I can't get into recovery.
I will give flashing the Bootloader a go via the AP rather than BL when I get back from work tonight though. Cheers.

Hi, I do appreciate you're only trying to help but, as explained numerous times in the thread, that's my whole problem.
In summary:
The phone gets stuck on the boot screen
I can't boot into recovery
I can only get into the odin download screen
Flashing a full stock rom doesn't change anything
Flashing Philz, TWRP or CW Recovery doesn't change anything
Reflashing the bootloader doesn't change anything

Just to close this thread off, I've now paid to get the phone sorted at a local shop. Took them a while (think their first level support just tried all the things I'd already done), but their occasional staff member and all round guru managed to get it sorted. I don't know what he did as I didn't get the chance to speak to him. Cost me £30.

Stuck in "blue" screen/odin and can't flash anything successfully

So I attempted to flash the renegade rom...do not think this has anything to do with that in particular, but now I'm stuck on the screen that says the software was not installed correctly. Holding down the power, volume up and home buttons will get me back to odin but when I try to flash anything in Odin (3.10.6), it gets about 20% done and fails. I can't get into the stock recovery again. Before this happened, I was on stock OI1 and had developer options up and bootloader option on , I tried to flash TWRP but kept getting an error, then I had flashed the unikernel (V6 I believe). The phone booted correctly, but the touch screen didn't work. I rebooted several time and tried again, still screen problem. I went into the stock recovery and did a factory reset, booted, screen still didn't work. I went back to odin tried to flash the G920PVPU3BOI1_G920PSPT3BOI1_G920PVPU3BOI1_HOME.tar, but it halted with the fail message at about 20%. Tried again, failed at same time point. Very frustrating because I've successfully rooted and installed multiple roms on my S4 and Evo prior.
At this point I am stuck in the blue screen that says you need to do smart switch to do an emergency recovery, I can get this over to odin, but not recovery. I tried both smart switch and Kies, and both say the phone isn't supported by the software(s). Yes, the drivers were installed prior to. I've tried waiting for the battery to discharge as well, nothing.
I'm at a loss of what to do now. Phone is inoperable and I can't even get into a screen that tells me anything about versions of hardware or software. The barcode is still intact and I can still get into Odin, but nothing more than that. Stock kernel to flash? Why won't odin finish the upgrades? Anything?
The phone is about to go in the trash...Help!

What I would recommend doing is to try using Kies 3 its pretty much Samsung's take on iTunes. It maybe able to help you. Otherwise, try redownloading the latest tar avabile which is: OJ7 also, try Odin v3.10.7

Thanks for replying.
I tried Kies and Smart Switch, but both did not recognize phone. I did manage to find out that TWRP has a sprint variant and that it seems to be incorrectly labeled in many posts. The sprint variant is 2.8.7.0 NOT 2.8.7.1. I managed to flash it in ODIN and now it boots into Recovery, which is a start. I tried applying the renegade rom, but it wouldn't finish and I'm left with a 'no OS detected, do you want to reboot?' from TWRP.
TWRP website isn't much help (but I love that product). At this point, still cannot tell what firmware is on device and where to go from here. I think I may need a recovery of some sort, but don't have. Tried flashing OJ7 tar as recommeded but it continues to fail when it hits the 'system' part of the download.
Still need advice/help....etc.
Since you are now in recovery, wipe everything!
Cache, System, Data, Internal Data and Dalvik Cache. After that, reboot into Odin and try restoring once more in odin. If that does not work, then wipe everything again and try installing Renegade once more.

Please help me find Kernel for S3 T999

I`ve finally managed to mess up my kernel after flashing numerous roms on my galaxy s3 T999. The problem is that my device has bootlooped and I can`t enter recovery mode (due to messed up kernel) and I don`t know where to find a Kernel which can be flashed with Odin.
Can someone please share a link to any kernel for s3 T-999 (it must be in .Tar form please) so that I can fix my phone. Thanks in advance.
I suggest flashing the latest stock ROM via Odin to solve the bootloop issue.

Thanks for trying to help. The problem is that I can`t find any other S3 rom (in Tar form so that it can be flashed with Odin) other than T999UVUEOH1 (Jelly Bean 4.3). It bootloops over & over no matter how many times I flash it (I think it`s because I cannot wipe cache due to no recovery).
You used ROMs from sammobile.com or updato.com?

I tried one ROM from sammobile and another from androidfilehost (uploaded by a developer). Neither of them work because Odin gets stuck at Setup connection. I saw a video in which a guy fixed it by cleaning cache & delvik cache. This is the main issue because my kernel is messed up and I can`t clean cache because the phone just won`t go into recovery mode (neither custom recovery nor stock recovery).

Flashing the stock 4.3 rom was or wasn't successful?

It was successful every time i`ve done it in the past but it was a mistake to flash it via odin after knowing the recovery is messed up and disappears a few minutes after flashing (doesn`t matter which one I flash, I`ve tried multiple recoveries but they all behave the same due to problems with kernel). I believe that is what caused it to bootloop. I then went on to flash stock 4.3 several times but it bootloops on the samsung logo every time. Now finally i`ve encountered a new error which doesn`t lets odin to flash ROMs or Recovery. It remains stuck at SetupConnection the entire time.
BTW This phone is a 5 year old device and is not my primary device (Ever since I got the LG g5) but still it`s very dear to me so I started this thread. I don`t use it as much as I used to before but I still want to keep it alive (as long as it doesn`t dies on it`s own).
I need to find a way to clean cache from PC. I don`t think there`s any other way to save a phone in this kind of situation.
Try this: open Odin, uncheck everything except F reset time, flash. When you see the word "reset" in the status window, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, use key combination to get into stock recovery, factory wipe, reboot.
If this still doesn't work, the phone's internal memory chip may be defective.

IT WORKED!!! :victory:
Unchecking everything except F reset time did the trick. How did you come with that ? You saved the day with that man. Thank you so much for showing up and taking the time trying to help me. I would not have been able to fix it without your help.
You should make an instructional thread for people facing this issue with Odin on any phone. I`m pretty sure it will help a lot of people who are stuck at SetupConnection when trying to flash ROMs. Thanks a lot for helping me out. I`d give you 500 if I had more accounts
Take care of yourself and keep up the good work audit13. :good:
Glad you got it working. We're here to help and learn from each other.
I learned the "uncheck" trick years ago when I started flashing the galaxy s2.
