[Q] [CM11] Why it is still UnOFFICIAL on GNEX Dev. Thread? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey , If you check Gnex Dev. Thread , then there is no official cm11 thread yet. Its showing [Unofficial] only. But Nightlies are present on get.cm !!! What is the reason ?

Unofficial threads are home to unofficial CM builds that potentially merge important changes ahead of official builds. Last I checked, even the current Nexus family (N4, N5, N7, N10) all don't have their official threads at all.
Seriously, even if there exists one, all we could see are noobs posting gazillions of "bugs" and complaints about NIGHTLIES. What's the point of it, then?

the UNOFFICIAL version is from playfulgod and it has some things ahead from the CM11 Nightlies. You should test is, I prefer the UNOFFICIAL one.

[Q] When the CM9 comes to me?

Or miui? Poor english sorry~
The CM9 came to me in a dream last night, it told me not to ask about ETAs
Don't ask the CM team for updates...it'll come when its ready
sent from Mt Olympus
It is funny to see how everyone it bi*ching about Verizon not releasing the Nexus and no-one has a problem with CM number one rule:
"don't ask for ETA"
If you ask me, don't expect anything soon or stable as priority has changed since the last year or so..
Number one priority now is;
-support as many devices as possible.
The old; fast release, fast bug fixes for top popular devices is long gone...
We are still on CM7 nightlies and an already working on CM9.
At least we know for sure that it WILL come to the Galaxy Nexus.
Op. Y u no read first rule of cyanogen?

What makes you think he didn't read it? He didn't ask CM for ETA, he asked the entire community. Maybe he thought someone may knew, and the entire community does not have such rule.
Op, CM7 has been in the making for ~8 months and still no final release, CM9 could be about the same time, no one knows..
Cyanogen himself said "see you in January"
so most likely they're hoping for a january release for the CM9 first RC or nightlies.
The time until an actual final version of CM9, probably 3 months easily. Only exception may the GNex and Nexus S. but even then i'd be amazed if it was less than 2 months.

Supposedly 7.2 will be the last official CM7 release until the move full force into CM9.
We've had a stable 7.1 release for a few months now. The CM team has already started the process. I would imaging the Nexus would be the flagship device as it already runs ICS natively. So one would think they would start there and slowly incorporate other devices as they gain support.

What happened to CM nightlies?

Last year by this time CM7 nightlies were all over the place for devices. When they started they were probably alot worse than the CM9 kangs we have now on alot of devices. So my question is: Are they no longer doing them for CM9?
PS - I'm not just talking about our phone, there are no nightlies anywhere.
They are working on cm9 now. Notenough time or reason to keep up with cm7 too
CM nightlies were suspended until CM9, there was an announcement about it a while back.
Okay maybe I wasn't very clear in my OP. I am asking why there aren't nightlies for CM9 by now.
Because it's still in initial programming. Once it's released across a broader spectrum, you'll see the nightlies. They just posted in their bog that it's currently only built for the nexus (anything you see for any other device is a dev port).
They also said that with all the new code in ics, it's taking hem a lot longer to build than previously.
Give them a little while, they do this in the free time around work and families. They'll be around sooner or later

Where is the official Cyanogen ROM thread ?

I see a ton of ROM threads based off tweaked versions of CM9, but is there an official straight up official CyanogenMod thread from the main developers themselves for the Galaxy Nexus ?
1. go on dev section
2. search CyanogenMod 9 (only 1 thread have this string in the title)
3. ?????
4. profit
(that the nighlty (experimental) thread, because there is no RC and no stable yet)
Like andQlimax said, there are no release candidates or stable builds compiled by CM team members yet. However if you have a look in the development section there is a dedicated (nightly) thread maintained by Imfloflo who compiles from the CM teams Github as it's updated. It is 100% CM, just compiled by someone that's not a member of the team.

hi,
i am coming from nexus s and really wondering, why there is no official cm9 for galaxy nexus?! a nexus not supported, times are changing...
but however, thanks for the infos regarding the nightlies! as far as i know these, they are not necessarily stable. so my question is, the ones provided, are they for daily use already, or is it a question of testing, as i went through the cm9 nightlies experience so far?

It's because the nex is ICS, not GB. As it's still in nightlies and hasn't had an RC yet, no phones are supported in CM9, officially....
But the nightlies are definitely stable enough: I haven't had any major problems for ... well ... ever.
And here's the link to the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398495
i see, well, i did already have problems with nightlies, more than once!
of course it's not the big deal, because you simply flash another one...but actually i am too old for this sh*t!
i am going to stay with the aokp milestone 5 for now, seems to be quite a nice one...and stable!
Apparently CM9 is in a code freeze with an RC1 expected within the week.

CM9 Stable

Looks like the G2 (Desire-Z) will not be getting CM9 stable as I have been keeping an eye on this list since last week's launch:
http://get.cm/?type=stable
Does anyone in this dev thread know why? I know there are unofficial RCs and the nightlies, but I avoid them and only go for stable. I was hoping it would get ICS stable but it appears 7.2 Gingerbread will be this device's final stable ROM.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

We don't have the needed drivers/source code HTC backed out on us. Aside from that though Mimicry is VERY stable I'd recommend flashing it!
Many roms past GB are very stable now. From Sense 4.0, to ICS, to even JB nightlies are reportedly smooth.
I use this ICS as a daily driver and it's very stable (AOKP): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642443
JB nightlies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605016 Weren't stable when I tried them, but I hear they're really good now. Might try later this week.
It all has to do with drivers being released or something from Qualcomm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822694
I don't know if it's true. The thread doesn't provide much information, maybe someone can clarify.
Are the drivers really released and being incorporated into roms? People are saying they are already being used in those JB nightlies.
As for not being out officially by CM... I don't even think they started working on it.

There are no official CM9 roms for the vision. The unofficial roms (Andromadus & the one by jerl92) are the closest thing, but they are only based on Cm9, not released by or associated with the actual Cyanogenmod team. The reason there even is a CM9 based rom is thanks to Andromadus.
That said, Mimicry will have a new version out this week based on the repo for CM9 stable. The non-device specific code anyway, the other branches are of course unofficial and not supplied by the CyanogenMod team.

Yes, the qualcomm drivers have always been incorporated into Andromadus roms as soon as they're available. Since the other roms are based on Andromadus (AOKP, jerl92's), they also incorporate the new drivers.

eeeeey, and I thought that CM9 stable for Desire Z is already out, bad luck
I hate to be that guy, but while development related, I'm pretty sure this belongs in the Q&A or General Discussion section. Catch knowledge!
You guys are missing drivers to?? We're also missing them!! Dang HTC :banghead::banghead::banghead:

The word around the Cyanogenmod Google+ site is that its coming but that it will take some time given that the drivers need to basically be written from scratch. This is a list of devices that are being droppped from any further releases of CM past CM7. The vision is not included on the list so you could say there is a glimmer of hope but I guess you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Only mentions of the DesireZ/G2 in that posting is in the comment section, they're probably talking bout semi-newer devices. I still think we have a better chance of getting it 'fully' working under the Andramadus team's effort (still cM9 but probably the best it's going to be for our devices). ie: if drivers are written from scratch, it most likely won't be done by the CM team, but will probably be incorporated into their project when done.

Thats the point. Its not listed among those which are being discontinued and most of those devices are over 2 years old. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to take anything away from the Andramadus team. I'll probably end up giving mimicry a run soon. I'm just trying to point out that the door hasnt been officially shut yet on this device as far as an official cm9 build goes.

Though here's something to think of: There is only one, I repeat one HTC device that is officially supported by Cyanogenmod 9. IF newer HTC devices aren't getting it, I doubt even more that a 2+ year old device would.

I doubt the One S/One X aren't going to get CM9 Actually, I could complain about CM turning into SamsungMod, but I don't really give a damn. Just look through the supported device list yourselves, folks...

Can't find the download link for the latest BB for toro (help)

I've looked on Pete's website for the latest stable build and his links do not seem to be working. I have the build from 10-10-12 but I'd like the link for the latest one. I've searched here but can't seem to find it.

Not sure what you're asking. Plenty of quality ROMs here. you looking for 4.1.2 or 4.2.1? This might be a good question for the Q&A section instead of the dev section.
4.1.2 on his website he has a build dated 10/31. As far as i know that is the most current unless you could link me to a better BB build. I just like a stable simple BB.
Download MMUZZY's latest 4.2.1 build
Pete's links are all dead on his site. He has discovered that there is more to life than his phone.
It is unlikely that you will see substantially more from him.
Personally, I recommend Eclipse.

[/COLOR]XenonHD for me call the way. Was hooked on liquid till the main focus was marketing and not development. You will not be disappointed with any ROM listed above. I've flashed them all, I see myself on Xenon for months to come! BTW your post needs to be removed. Strict policies on non development discussions in this section.... Just sayin :fingers-crossed:
