I tried posting this in a different thread and got no responses, so I figured I would start my own thread.
Here is my issue...........
Is anyone else having an issue with there network failing.
I have the latest fresh with the vanilla lock with clock flashed, and am currently having an issue with my network coverage failing.
When I go into settings, under wireless networks there is a setting for mobile network. If I turn it off and back on my network is fine, but shortly after it says connection failed.
I then have to uncheck mobile network, and turn it back on. This is happening all the time and I have to constantly turn the mobile network off then back on.
This is getting really frustrating.
Anyone know of a fix for this.
Thank you.
yeah, i noticed mine doing that today, i didnt know if i was in area with bad service, but i was constantly having to manually turn if off and on to get it working.
Is anyone else experiencing this??????
I am having this connection failed error like every 10 minutes now.
This is getting really frustrating.
Please help.
Im stuck here guys. Someone please help.
I tried a complete wipe, and then flashed a different rom. I still have the same issue.
Anyone have any ideas???????????

Here is a pic of exactly what I am talking about.

No, It will do the same thing outside with a full signal.
What radio are you using? The latest one is 2.05.00.06.10. I'm still kind of a noob, but that might have some effect on it.

Yes, I am using the latest radio.
Any other thoughts?????????????
I am lost here!!!!
Is there anything else in the error message other then just "Connection failed".
Try updating your profile and PRL
There is no other error message at all.
I tried updating my PRL and profile a bunch of times.
Problem still exists.
I also tried reflashing the fresh rom w/o the vanilla lock / clock because I read somewhere that the clock on that vanilla lock causes mobile connection issues.
Well, that didnt fix the issue either.
have you considered 'starting over', running an ruu and see if the problem still effects you on stock?

I am still new to all of this.
What would be the best way to do that.
Thank you.
well first I would try a stock rooted rom, like the 1.47 one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6983017&postcount=1
if that doesnt work, then I would try a ruu. an RUU does remove root as it brings your phone back to factory shipped, so give the stock rooted a shot first.
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
All you do is download the exe, plug in your phone and run it
and don't forget to wipe
Thanks for the links.
I will try the 1st link first.
If that doesnt help, do I wipe first then run that .exe file?
Thanks.
I don't think wiping is necessary with an ruu (the exe)
O.k, so after wiping my phone and flashing with the latest stock rom everything was fine.
I am able to re flash the DC rom and still have no issues.
However, I do end up getting the network failed error eventually after I reinstall all my apps, etc.
I cant narrow it down to exactly what is causing my network data connection to stop working.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue, or figure out exactly what is causing this issue??
This is getting extremely frustrating!!!!
We're on the same boat.
I come from a lot of ROMs, including the FroYo ROMs, and the problem started when I rooted while on OTA 1.47.xx. Went to RUU, went back to stock, still on the same problem that you have.
Relax, take a deep breath.
Think positive: when you did the RUU, you went back to stock, so the phone is still in warranty.
Go to a Sprint Store and ask for your phone to be fixed, explain the problem with the details. (DO NOT say that you have rooted your phone. HTC and Sprint will smite thee if you say so.)
Now, are you getting a lot of random reboots? That's a side effect I'm having on my phone.
Try the RUU. If the problem persists, go to the Sprint Store with your phone UNROOTED.
Hi,

Using: AOPK M2
Radio: XXKK6
What have i done so far:
1) factory reset - nothing changed
2) wipe data and cache, installed b17 - nothing changed
3) deleted file: /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf - nothing changed
4) tried to reflash XXKK6 radio - i get "installation aborted" in CWM
5) flashed CM9 - no change
Not sure what should i do next, any ideas?
Thanks,
logcat?
only other thing i can recommend trying is flashing a stock image, and not a 3rd party rom and see if you experience the same issues.
and as far as the radio, you sure you had the right radio, and checked its hash?

Here is a log: http://pastebin.com/B50Qv4sY
I'll try to flash a stock ROM and see what happens; the radio was ok used it for more than 2 weeks with no issues.
From the log, seems like the HW modules is dead?
Thanks,
Update: doesn't work on stock ROM either
Code:
E/WifiHW ( 199): Supplicant not running, cannot connect
E/WifiStateMachine( 199): Failed to setup control channel, restart supplicant
D/SoftapController( 113): Softap fwReload - Ok
W/CommandListener( 113): Failed to retrieve HW addr for wlan0 (No such device)
Try flashing KK7, maybe there is some interaction between kk6 and the new roms (i don't know, just guessing)...
also, try dialing:
*#*#4636#*#*
that brings up a testing menu, there are some wifi api controls, as well as other phone information that may help you figure out whats going wrong.
it sounds like your radio, and/or related services were corrupted, or like you said, your wifi module just died.
just try to remember every single change you made, and everything you flashed, where you got it, and is there a newer version
----
thinking further about it, are you sure you did a full wipe, data, dalvik, AND cache? flash your radio, THEN your rom. and if cwm is giving you problems, try reflashing that too.

Did a full stock Rom flash using Nexus toolkit 4.0, unroot, flashed stock recovery, locked bootloader again - still the same issue and instead of sleeping my nexus was resetting. Sent back to warranty, hope they can't check my previous rooting adventures on Nexus

nice, let us know if they replace it or notice the previous root (or care)
Hi all,
I have the same problem. aLogcat has more or less the same output than the post earlier from Rechinica. Any news or ideas on this?
Tried also flashing stock 4.0.4, AOKP or an older version of CM (around March 8th). Unfortunately nothing changed..
Thanks!
Point A: radio interface has nothing to do with wifi. Wifi module is in the kernel.
Point B: you should have tried erasing evrything with fastboot, not cwm.

It's 100% a hardware issue. The WiFi chip needs to be replaced.
Return to stock and send through warranty, always.
Man, I have the same problem just not long ago. This is crap. Is this really hardware issues?
I had once the issue that I got stuck on turning on, but a reboot solved it.
The only other possibility I can think of is, that the password is incorrect. Either an error on saving or an errror on typing. I din't get a proper error message, and just noticed, that I mistyped the password

I was running a nightly of some CM 10.0 build for months, and decided to update when CM rolled out 10.1.2. Prior to this, my phone was working normally.
For some strange reason, my phone apparently has 2 recovery environments on its, CWM and TWRP, versions unknown. Sometimes when trying to get to CWM, I get TWRP. I didn't think much of it as I had a recent CWM backup, and knew that I could get back to it eventually. In TWRP, I formatted data and cache (system is not an option to format, but I believe it does so when you flash a system zip), and ran the CM 10.1.2 update. The phone formatted, and loaded the ROM properly. Or rather, it seemed to.
When I started going through the new user ROM setup, I noticed that I had no signal. Unable to do much in a ROM that requires setup to be completed, I found my way back into CWM and restored my backup, after formatting system, data, and cache. This went fine. However, even in my restored backup, I still had no service.
This is with the phone NOT in airplane mode.
I connected the phone to QPST and QXDM, and verified that the ESN/MEID, and data profiles were still intact. They all appear correct and normal as ever.
However, the phone disagrees, as seen here. It doesn't even know enough to connect to the network to get a signal, any at all, even to call 911! (I tried. "No service".)
What the heck has happened, and how do I fix it?
Thanks!
Have you used the NS4G modem at all? If you were using it on CM10, there's your the problem. To fix this you need the patch to make CM10.1.2 NS4G compatible, or you need to flash an Epic modem back onto your phone. When do the recoveries switch, before or after the flash? Also TWRP is mainly used in custom CM based kernels such as nitest. And CM sticks with CWM. If TWRP is in your CM10 backup, and you want to keep TWRP while updating, there's a checkbox to inject TWRP into whatever you may be flashing.

Have voice service only now..
Thanks!
Ok, I was able to restore an Epic modem (FC19), but now I only have voice service. I tried 611, and got Boost customer service, as expected. A test call to a regular number also worked.
However, I have no data service, either 1X or 3G.
When I got to About Phone, Phone Status, I see these screens:

}
Note that no IP addres is showing, indicating one symptom of no connection.
The serial number listed concerns me, as it has no bearing to either my ESN or MEID that I can tell, and when I hook the phone to QXDM, the ESN and MEID numbers that are returned are correct for my donor phone, which they were copied from.
'Service State' shows that I do have (voice) service, but 'Mobile Network State' varies between 'Connecting' and 'Disconnected'.
According to the data from the phone in QPST, all of my NAM and data profile information is correct. To verify, I restored a backup I saved back when the phone was operating properly.
So what have I missed?
This is where I can no longer help you because I've never flashed to another carrier. The only advice I can give you is to check the threads that are linked in the Alternative Carrier sticky, which is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657994

Fellow boost user here. I can verify that the serial shown on my phone with working everything seems to have no logical connection to my meid/esn.
Sorry I can't be much more help, id say check the ##debug# menu and see if aaa is authenticated, if not your data programming might need redone/retaken from the donor to your epic. I had a hard time getting everything to stick at first, havnt run into a problem like yours yet.

Thanks, I was re-checking my profiles when you replied. When I reset the HA and AAA keys, copying them over from my text file backups, the data came online.
However, it keeps bouncing between 1X and 3G. I had this problem on a short-lived Galaxy S2 (gone now), and forget how I solved it. If I recall, it was some kind of improper profile setup. *Confused* But I copied over the backup file in QPST from when the phone was running fine with full 3G.. Who knows, the backup did not solve the HA and AAA issues either. I'm tired. Hopefully it will come to me.

Ok, I *think* I have it solved. I originally used a couple of methods to get my profiles and HA/AAA keys, one posted on the forums here by Levisque, and one I found on YouTube. The YouTube method involved using CDMA WS to read 4 NV items from the donor phone containing all this info. I restored those 4 NV items on my Epic, and after temporarily having no service until I did a complete reboot, I now have functional 3G. To verify that it was up-to-date, I ran a profile update with the bootable stock FC09 ROM. Here's hoping it continues problem-free.

good to hear you got it back, even if it bounces like crazy. mine does that too when im on the stock rom, once i flash back to cm10.1 everything seems to get a little better. my og evo did the same thing, i never figured it out but all the settings were ok, maybe try to do a profile update on stock and see if it solves the problem. that should hopefully fill in the missing blanks as long as your profile 0 info is good.
My Galaxy Nexus has had no signal all day, i had signal on the way to work then have lost it sometime in the morning. I have tried my simcard in another phone and it works fine, i have tried another simcard in my Galaxy Nexus and have the same problem, the phone gets no signal what so ever, however both simcards work ok in another phone.
I can see all the mobile networks we have here in the UK, i just don't appear to be able to connect to any.

I'm on 3 UK, the phone is running the Cyanogenmod 11 M2 build.
I appear to have signal, however service status states "out of service", not sure what that means?
I have tried re starting the phone, putting it in aeroplane mode, leaving the sim / battery out for a while, re flashing the rom.
Anything else i can try?
Maybe reflash your baseband radio, or try another?
Good suggestion, even flashed the 4.3 factory image from Google and got exactly the same sadly.

I would check your IMEI to see if it has not gone to a Generic IMEI. In settings about phone...
I think that's the problem, its 004999010640000 which i just typed in to Google and appears to be a generic IMEI.
The second result is about Fixing Galaxy Nexus's IMEI Number so ill have to try and follow that when home from work.
Exact same problem!
I have the exact same problem. My Galaxy Nexus stopped connecting to 3 about 9am yesterday (22nd) and does the same thing as your phone. I'm running Android Revolution HD11 (4.3).
let me know how the IMEI reset goes. Not having a working phone is very annoying.

I've been doing a lot of reading today, followed by a lot of messing bout this evening and have finally managed to recover my IMEI number and get my Nexus working. I tried various things, including using the FuxkDocomoV3.1.apk as mentioned in the comments of the guide linked to above. From what i can tell you are going to need a backup of your phones /factory folder to recover sadly.
The entire contents of my /factory had been erased. I'm not 100% sure how that happened, however i believe i may have accidentally erased it when i flashed CM11 M2 the other week, i notice Clockwork recovery has a REALLY EASY way to format it in the newer versions, and no obvious way to backup /factory (from what i can see)
I'm guessing looking at /data/radio/log/nv.log i erased it when flashing the rom, as the date in the log matches when i flashed the latest clockword recovery and last formatted my phone.
Sun Jan 12 12:10:55 2014: nv data does not exist (GED)
Sun Jan 12 12:10:55 2014: nv data does not exist
Sun Jan 12 12:10:55 2014: default NV restored

As to why it worked until the 22nd with what i presume is the default IMEI i have no idea.
What i did learn is that /factory is also referred to as the EFS partition, as it happens the Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) backs up the EFS partition! I remembered i had used the TWRP recovery a long time ago back in 2012, and still had the backup i made before flashing a custom rom.
After that had restored my phone wouldn't boot the old backup i had made, so presuming it had actually restored /factory i flashed the 4.3 factory image from Google. My Nexus booted and had a phone signal after that! I checked the IMEI number and it has indeed been restored.
I then simply formatted the system partition again, flashed the CM11 M2 and restored my apps with titanium backup, i then still had my IMEI in a custom rom.
So to anyone having problems i would check your old backups and see if you have any made with TWRP, you should have a backup of the EFS (factory) partition which will get you your IMEI number back when restored.
Another possible way to recover:
I read this in another post on XDA:
By restoring your nandroid, what you have done is restored the proper files in /data/radio, which is what Android looks at for IMEI. However, there will still be nothing in /factory, so if you ever wipe or do a factory reset, your IMEI will disappear again. In order to get it to stick, I believe you still need to copy the nv_data.bin.md5 and nv_data.bin files from /data/radio to /factory.
Click to collapse
(Link)
So with that in mind if you have an older nandroid backup made with clockwork recovery you might be able to copy the relevant files from /data/radio to /factory and recover like that, or at least find out if you get your IMEI back by flashing an old backup.
I've always made what i thought was a complete backup of my phone before flashing a custom rom, however i now see this is not always the case in regards to /factory (EFS) that is something im going to keep in mind for future reference.

Hi Guys
Got a used i9250M (Canadian version), device is rooted and with TWRP installed.
I have installed several ROMS with no difference, at the moment I have flashed back the stock ROM
I have tried to flash every moded available in the modems list in (through TWRP)
https://basketbuild.com/devs/osm0sis/radios/cwm/
The original modem is i9250ugll1 (4.3.1)
I have tried several SIM cards with Wind mobile (Canada) and Rogers Canada
I checked my IMEI as suggested in this post but it matches that of the back of the phone, I did see somewhere about a bad md5 sum
Anyone has any idea as of what may be happening
Thanks in advance
I can flash any custom ROM and everything working correctly.
WIFI connected and working too.
Doing customizations and installing few apps and after a restart (probably need restart) wifi not working.
If I leaved WIFI on state before restart it shows saved networks and won't connect.
Turning on after restart not happening. I had to go back and re-enter to WIFI menu . Then it shows"searching..." WPS, WIFI direct nothing works.
After failed scan it shows saves connections and touching on connection says" Failed to connect to WIFI network." Or WPS failed, Try again in few minutes."
Hard reset or flashing again will workout, but one restart and it all messed up. And tried without doing nothing and restart, it's same.
I collected few logs and attached. And link to short video that exactly happening.
Tried every other ROM and kernels, same result. On stock, it's perfectly fine and working. Aftre bootloader update(yeah, thought it would help) same thing happens. But not with stock ROM; KNOX fear eh. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Here how I solved the problem.
First download SQLite debugger from store
From app, navigate to Setting storage & open Setting.db
Click on Global, Name.
From the list choose WiFI Display on.
Click on UPDATE? > value... > 0 from the list or enter value.
If choose to enter the value manually it's same thing, type 0 where cursor blink.
Then click on arrow head on top right so the new popup saying Commit the change and confirm it.
Restart the device and you're good to go with WiFi again without a problem.

trying wiping everything go back to stock 4.3 then reload a 4.4 kitkat rom (A DIFFERENT ROM) and see if that helps

For the reason of Knox I'm not sure what stock ROM needed to downloaded on my current state.

I am in the exact same boat. I installed the cyanogenmod v11, with kernal 3.4.74-cyanogenmod-gd298491. Wiped data, restored rom, etc. I've reset this phone so many times, I can't remember what all I've done. I did see a thread where users bring up a terminal emulator and type in some lines of commands, and wifi works, until the do a restart. I tried that and it didnt work for me. Luckily I have unlimited data, so I can download over LTE network. I just got a text from ATT saying I am pushing 5GB, and that I may be throttled soon. [email protected]%& you technology!

I couldn't find such thread. Still I'm trying myself figuring out what's going on. Hope myself to find that post soon.
For anyone interested in, another 2 logs here.
Sorry, I couldn't hunt anything down at work....no wifi on my phone....
Here is the thread I was reading before. Again, its worked for some, but not others. Good luck!

You're on 4.3 correct? I had a problem similar to this with wifi I used a different kernel and it fixed it.
Confirm 4.3 and I will give you a link to the one I used.

I'd never at official 4.3. Only through customs. Last stock was 4.1.2
So what is your bootloader version? 4.3 will run on mj2 and mjb one will allow you to use Odin in the future and the other will brick your phone if you use Odin. If you have root access download root checker from play store it will show you which one you have.

I got my wifi working. I am rooted, and I am using CWM. I downloaded the Aroma ROM from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252932) , and installed it. It tooks multiple tries. It said the phone may sit on the Samsung logo for a long time, so I gave it an hour, and i reset my phone and tried a different combination. If you go this route, you will see a ton of different ways you can install this ROM, which is nice. I tried 3 different kernal options, and finally my phone booted up, and the WIFI worked, and stayed on.

I also flashed that. Seriously; there's more to do with custom ROM than stock. True, problems are coming but that's the reason why I'm here. Even with this wifi problem, I'm still on custom.

Guys I was having this issue, and I found a fix that worked for me.
The Wifi on my last rom was working fine, as was on my current rom, until I switched on a setting, "Enable wireless display". It was the only common thread between the two, and as soon as I turned it on, I lost Wifi and got the "WPS failed" message when refreshing networks.
Once I turned off "Enable wireless display" (and rebooted with fixing persmissions, not sure if that's a necessary step), I had working Wifi again.
Settings > Display > Cast Screen > uncheck "Enable wireless display"
Hope this helps some of you.
I found a solution. I'll post it when I'm free
