Can a 128 micro as card work in the Gs4 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app

I believe it only supports up to 64gb.

I can't see any technical limitations on the Micro SD size.

However, until you try it (or someone else) it's just an assumption (both ways - yes or not).

I actually think there is a way to partition it using a tool in windows or Linux that splits it into two 64gb "sd" cards. So it's one card but in the phone it comes up as two. I think.. I'm not sure if this still works.. I remember seeing this "trick" in the s2 forums years ago when I had that.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk

This works on the note2, I don't see why a similar setup wouldn't work for the s4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239413

It will work but after partitioning it. Get the card and post back if you need help on how to proceed.

NO T-Mobile said themselves 64 GB is max, however if you partition into 2x 64 might work... Have not tried tho

Ext sdcard corruption

So I don't know what's happening but I have a 32gb class 10 micro sd card. And once a week it just goes corrupt and my files are all corrupt. It's seriously getting on my nerves and I don't know what to do. I I've formatted it in the phone and in a pc and it doesn't matter it still happens.

Any ideas? It will just abruptly stop saving pictures to my ext sdcard and when I use root explorer to see why it has changed from read/write to read/only.

Sounds like the card may just be faulty?
I have had one incident with my current SD card recently where it wiped itself but fortunately it hasn't happened again. I have a 32 GB Class 10 also. I have read of other experiences with QC issues with lesser known brands like "Patriot" (my current) or "PNY". I think for my next one I'll spend the extra dough and go Samsung. I hear those are built like tanks

It could be the card itself. Why not try another card and see if it happens on other cards.

[Q] only 10.36 GB ???

Hi all, just noticed my 16GB Note 2 has only 10.36gb available. Should it be more than that ?
normal i believe. after system files and things like that i have like 9 and change free
This is quite annoying really. What makes it worse is that you can't move programs/apps to external SD Card ATM.
its not so much a bummer for me bc i dont install much. i love the phone so much i over look this :good:
True. We need to get the App 2 SD implemented. There are so many games i would like to install and haven't because of this reason.

Blows my mind that some people don't understand that 16gb will NEVER mean 16gb of usable space for users. And with microSD cards being so cheap I don't get why it would ever even be an issue. Best Buy had 64gb Sandisks on sale last week for $39...

Try installing 1 GB games on the SD card without rooting and without having the App 2 SD option.
App 2 SD option is needed urgently.
it doesnt mean I dont undersrand, it just isnt acceptable to loose nearly 6gb of storage space. Loosing 2gb is acceprable but nearly 6gb is apalling. Can you point me in a working workaround to install apps to external sd card then as the only one I can find a lot of people are saying it doesnt work or function very well.
Maybe you can use Directorybind? Works for me, doesnt work if you are not rooted tho

Meenova SD card Reader

So I backed Meenova SD card reader when they first came out and I have gotten a chance to play with it now. So far. I like the capabilites that it has.
Price: $12
Its priced adequately and for those that like to store large files ( movies, music, videos) it's well worth the price.
Fuction:
the Meenova Card Reader allows you to read any micro sd card on a tablet or phone. This is especially useful if your tablet or phone does not have removable memory.
My uses:
I work in cell phone sales and this will allow me to transfer files such as contacts videos pictures much easy to certain phones that don't have removable memory. I also want to take videos that I take with my GoPro and transfer into my tablet so I can edit them and upload them much faster than I will on my laptop.
Using it:
In order to use it on your Nexus device you have to download a Nexus media manager for $3.99. It's well worth the price for being able to download and stream your video right of that the card on a non rooted Nexus. Although I did have to pay for an application, I do believe that it's a software issue with Nexus not necessarily the card player. Overall it is a perfect buy.
My opinion:
Overall I think its a phenomenal by for being able to transfer pictures movies videos contacts etc between devices with removable memory and non.

I also have the otg cable and is fine for the controller and a fast data transfer, but for watching movies I guess this is much better and confortable.
I guess I'm gonna get one.

Waiting for mine. I only preordered so hoping it ships soon. I have an otg cable, but on long card rides I can just load up a few movies on an sdcard and plug the meenova in. Much better for my son instead of having the otg cable hanging or me having to keep on transferring files back and forth.

was checking my pre-order of 28 august (no kickstarter backing) and saw this on the site:
Pre-order shipping will start on September 18th. We expect to clear the backlog of all pre-orders by September 30th.
So it will be shipped soon now
Sure hope it ships soon. Going on a month now with no notifications....let's hope they don't rush and skimp on production quality.

Pointless response UrbanLagoon... thanks for incressing your post count tho... I beleive with 4.3 as long as you format it properly should work fine, I have used usb otg cable as usb external on a 160gb esata hard drive and a 128gb usb flash drive so I see no reason why it wouldn't. I hope that helps.

Galaxy S3 and SD Cards

Hello Guys.
I've seen this problem on a few forums but no one really has the solution that might work for my phone. Whenever I add videos or movies to my external SD card, in a few hours or days my SD card starts acting weird. Some of the pictures get deleted or destroyed and sometimes I cant access my SD card with CWM. When I play the videos I can't fast forward (doesn't let me) and sometimes the movie plays for 2 minutes and then just starts from the beginning again. I tried formatting it several times in fat 32 and exfat and it gives the same problem. I tried using different SD cards from sandisk and still causes problems. I am currently using the 64gb san disk SD card. My phone is SGH-T999. Also, for those who are wondering, I did try different roms.
Any solutions?

64gb cards are fully compatible. If not, they wouldn't work. To the op. Contact SanDisk. I had a couple of 32gbp SanDisk cards do this to me. They sent me new ones for free even though they were 1 and a half years old. Now it works fine. I am using a 64gbp card now with no issues.

Yeah, I think the best solution at this point will be contacting them and asking them for a new one. But to be completely honest, I used a generic one and it gave me the same problems. Then, I thought I should stop using cheap crap and bought a SanDisk and still same problems. I guess the problem is in the device?
