These are the current instructions for the Google Now app:
1.) Rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in system/app to GoogleQuickSearchBox.bak
2.) Rename the "Velvet-Thes0o-5.apk" that you downloaded (link below) to: "GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk"
3.) Place the renamed .apk in the system/app folder and set the permissions to rw-r-r
4.) Reboot and enjoy!
OR
1.) Rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in system/app to GoogleQuickSearchBox.bak
2.) Try to install the downloaded .apk off your sd just like any other .apk
OR
1.) Flash the .zip down below through recovery -- AOSP ONLY
Voice Instructions:
1.) Download the "Voice Search for Google Now!" app from the Play Store (link is below in downloads)
2.) Either open up the app, hold down search or tap on the dedicated widget that comes with the app to launch the voice search
3.) The app will use ICS's voice-to-text engine to get your answer, and then enter it into the Google Now v5 app from before. All you have to do is hit enter and then congrats, you've got working voice search!
4.) Check back at Jonny_G's thread for the latest information and updates.

-info cards work
-notifications work without modifying build.prop
-Voice now works through Jonny_G's app
Not working:
-Can't exit the app using the back button on the Google Now 'Cards' screen
-Full Jelly Bean voice search
Devices this will NOT work on:
-Devices that are running anything before Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

[GUIDE] ROM Tweaking

What you will need:
Basic tools
- Notepad++
- ZIP manager tool like 7zip
Advanced tools
- Cygwin
- smali (assembler/disassembler)
- APKTool/APK Multi-tool
Lets Begin:
Download a ROM (we use CM in this guide) of your choice (don’t forget to get the permissions for it modding from the developer) and extract it. When you extract it, you will see at least two folders and one file
Folders
- system
- META-INF
Files
- boot.img [this is not present in defy/defy+ ROMs so don't worry about it ]
NOTE THAT I AM ONLY GIVING DETAILS ABOUT THOSE FOLDER WHICH YOU CAN REMOVE/EDIT
THE \system\bootmenu\2nd-boot\ FOLDER
In this folder you'll find the kernel [zImage] file of the ROM here you can change it with the one you compiled or by others.
The Tts folder
The ‘TTS folder’ is all about Text-To-Speech. It contains all the files needed by the Android system to get Text-To-Speech working. If you are removing the TTS feature from your ROM, make sure you remove this entire folder and the TTS related apps from the ‘system folder’, as this will save a lot of space.
The WiFi and Usr folders
The WiFi folder contains the drivers required by the WiFi module to function. So i strongly recommend NOT to touch this folder. If you delete any file from this folder, you will mess up the WiFi functionality.
The usr folder contains some miscellaneous but very important stuff. It may contain anything and everything needed by the Android operating system. For instance, this folder contains all the key-mapping. If such files are messed with, your device will be non-functional although it will boot.
The Build.prop
The build.prop file is pretty self-explanatory. Here, you can change the most basic things, like the android version that setting shows. Wondered how people are making 2.3.4 look like 4.0.3 in settings? Its build.prop. Also, you can change what ‘About phone’ shows here.
Other things, you can change things like, how long your wifi scans, how much battery your phone saves while in sleep, Dalvik VM heapsize and default ringtones. If you are wondering what # stands for, it signifies that, the particular line is commented out, and the system does not read it. You can use it add comments to the build.prop. This helps others understand, what is the function of a particular tweak.
A guide for some basic build.prop tweaks can be found here.
Please be aware that, these build.prop modifications are not universal. So, you will have to experiment with the tweaks and their values.
The META-INF folder
This folder contains instructions for the Android Recovery about how to work with the files present in the zip. This folder contains many folders, but the only one we need to edit is the update-script file.
Making Flashable ZIP
In order to create a flashable zip, first zip the ‘system, META-INF’ folder and the ‘boot.img’. Let’s name this zip as ‘update.zip’. Next we need to sign the zip. Get a signer here. Put your update zip in the same folder as the signer. Then run the ‘signer.bat’ file. This will sign your zip file. After the signing process is complete, you can change the name of the zip to your liking.

[Flashable Zip]Huge UI mod for stock apps for Jellybean (G3 style)

This mod will change default apps UI to look like G3:
Contact, Phone, Setting, Lockscreen, Home, Message, Camera
Little icon change for:
Internet, videos, calculator, gallery
How to:
1. You must have a file manager for editing Example.apk, X-PLORE file manager is always highly recommended:
2. Download zip from attachments, open mod & copy(replace) "res" folder in Example.apk.
3. Replace your new Example.apk with the original one in system/app.
4. You MUST always Restart your phone to get the right result! Possible Force closes before restart are normal
Done! Enjoy!
Flashable zip is here!please reply the result
----------editing apk files with X-plore file manager:
hold on an apk file & select "open as archive" & then you can modify APKs easily
----------how this mod works?
this mod will replace only some pictures in Example.apk
If you don't like a change, easily delete its picture from mod folder & copy pics again to the original copy of Example.apk.
!! remember to have the original STOCK APK files somewhere safe !!
I suggest to copy the system/"app" folder somewhere safe
If you want to have changeable status bar & navbar colors same as action bar(flat style like my screenshot, you can use FlatStyleColoredBars! Even on 4.1 like myself. All the credits goes to ibocharov, that's a great module & worthy to buy the pro if you like!
BUT IT'S ONLY FOR 4.3+! BUT NO PROBLEM, install Xinstaller Xposed module & disable checking sdk version & it will be installed & will work on 4.1 jellybean perfect!
NOTE: use the 0.63 or lower versions of flatstylecoloredbars on jellybean, the newer versions cause serious force closes! If you've already faced the problem, use Xposed recovery mode:
Restart the phone, once you see boot animation, press volume down four times or more!
That's how I solve the problem on my (locked bootloader-no custom recovery) device!
The 0.63 version that I'm already using it, is perfect for jellybean,I've attached it(edited, works with 4.1 without other modules )
If you want to have G3 style notification bar & lollipop Navigation bar on your Optimus G like the screenshot, here is the place:

The problem is my phone is not unlocked & I don't know how to make flashable zip!
But I make you sure even by deleting the apps above, phone will boot normally(tested) & you can replace or copy your original apps, they will be restored FOR SURE.
Also that's not that much hard to modify them! At most 10 minutes for all of them!

Can one of you test to dirty flash the rom you use again , reboot , boot to recovery again and then use the debloater but don't select LGNFC , QUICKSETSDK and QREMOTE !
That should do the trick.

Nice Zip Kuoi, I can confirm that your trick works.
Google Play Movies, Google Play Games, Google Play Music, SIM Toolkit, Voice Memo and Video Editor are still in my ROM after applying your Script.
Can anybody confirm? Would it be possible to add these apps to your ZIP?

Go to my EXTRA debloater thread ... i've added Google Play Movies, Google Play Games, Google Play Music, SIM Toolkit, Voice Memo and Video Editor
Link to Extra debloater in OP
BTW : I've learned a lot today ,because when i was trying to remove the google services (play movies, games, music) the folders where deleted but i had still the apps on my phone.
I've installed an apk info app , and so i could figure out that these apps also use an other folder on the data partition ... so now it's fixed.
All recommendations are still welcome
Kuoi,
GREAT WORK! I can confirm that it is working. Here my observations:
- after I ran the ZIP the Google Apps (Google Play Movies, Google Play Games, Google Play Music) where still there but now it was possible to uninstall them within Lollipop.
- SIM Toolkit, Voice Memo and Video Editor are deleted as expected by executing the ZIP
- in your App your comment about SIM Toolkit is that you do not recommend to delete it. Why? I have deleted SIM-Toolkit and the LG G2 runs normally
- maybe you can add Youtube to the list?
- maybe you can add Music to the list - assuming that there are plenty of free music apps in Google Play
- in the safe LP debloater you can delete Mail - isn't that one of the basic apps that should remain in the OS?
- maybe it would be easier for you as developer and for users to put the safe and the extra debloater together into one ZIP. There you could maintain two categories (save and extra).
Regards,
Gregor

Thanks for the info.
Did you use D802 and stock LP rom to remove Google apps ? On my device they were deleted after the debloat and i didn't have to uninstall them afterwarts.
I'll delete the sim toolkit coomment because it's only with some sim's and in some countries it seems to give a little problem.
Youtube and music will be added soon
I'll keep mail on the debloater because i don't use Gmail ... it's not a necessary app to keep your phone working.
You're right .. i didn't think about it ,but I'll put the 2 versions together in 1 zip.
I could put them on 1 flash zip , but according to me the list would be too long and imo the extra is more for people who know what they're doing and what they're removing
Thanks for the reply
Hi Kuoi,
yes, D802 with stock LP but I got it as a ZIP (Software version V20b-OPEN-COM) to be installed through TWRP - so maybe it is not 100% original.
Regarding Mail I was referring to "LGEmail : LG email client". I understand that Gmail ist no a neccessary app.
Of course it is ok to have 2 ZIPs. But IMHO there are also some sophisticated apps in the safe ZIP, f. e.
- Facelock: I would not know of any app that can be engaged into setting
- LgNfc: it is required for the NFC hardware
- LGBrowser: ok you can use any other browser
But maybe I am mistaken since I am not too experienced with Android. So in the end your ZIPs are great so safe a lot of storage :good:
Regards,
Gregor

How to use Samsung Watch with devices that have less than 1.5GB of RAM

Well I bought a samsung galaxy watch for my dear but she was not able to connect her watch to her f*cking samsung phone! After some investigations found that it's the hardcoded memory limit of the Galaxy Wearable application which doesn't allow android devices which have less than 1.5 GB of memory. Finally I am able to pair the watch and phone and here how it goes:
Step 1 - Prepare decompile environment
- Ensure jdk installed, can be downloaded at at the url: www(dot)oracle(dot)com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html
- Ensure apktool installed, can be downloaded at at the url: ibotpeaches(dot)github(dot)io/Apktool/
Step 2 - Download Galaxy Wearable apk
- This is the app that connects your watch and android device which also have hardcoded memory limit with no reason! Can be downloaded at at the url: www(dot)apkmirror(dot)com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-gear/
Step 3 - Decompile Galaxy Wearable apk
- Open a terminal window and run below command
java -jar /path/to/apktool_x.x.x.jar d /path/to/com(dot)samsung(dot)android(dot)app(dot)watchmanager_x(dot)x(dot)xx(dot)xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx_minAPI18\(nodpi\)_apkmirror(dot)com(dot)apk
- This will create a folder in the working directory with the name of apk, like: com(dot)samsung(dot)android(dot)app(dot)watchmanager_x(dot)x(dot)xx(dot)xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx_minAPI18\(nodpi\)_apkmirror(dot)com which will be called as "/path/to/apkdecompiled" here after.
Step 4 - Change the hardcoded memory limit
- Open the smali folder with text editor like sublime
- Search for "0x4098000000000000L" or "1536"
- Find should match with the HostManagerUtils.smali file at /path/to/apkdecompiled/smali/com/samsung/android/app/twatchmanager/util/HostManagerUtils.smali
- Replace "0x4098000000000000L" with "0x4050000000000000L" which updates the hardcoded limit to 64MB. This converter url: babbage(dot)cs(dot)qc(dot)cuny(dot)edu/IEEE-754(dot)old/Decimal(dot)html can be used to calculate value for a different number.
- Save the file.
Step 5 - Recompile Galaxy Wearable apk
- Open a terminal window and run below command
java -jar /path/to/apktool_x.x.x.jar b /path/to/apkdecompiled
- This will create an apk file in the /path/to/apkdecompiled/dist directory with the name of apk, like: com(dot)samsung(dot)android(dot)app(dot)watchmanager_x(dot)x(dot)xx(dot)xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx_minAPI18\(nodpi\)_apkmirror(dot)com(dot)apk
Step 6 - Sign the recompiled Galaxy Wearable apk
- Open a terminal window and run below command
keytool -genkey -v -keystore galaxy-wearable.keystore -alias galaxy -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -validity 10000
- then run below command
jarsigner -verbose -sigalg SHA1withRSA -digestalg SHA1 -keystore galaxy-wearable.keystore /path/to/apkdecompiled/dist/com(dot)samsung(dot)android(dot)app(dot)watchmanager_x(dot)x(dot)xx(dot)xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx_minAPI18\(nodpi\)_apkmirror(dot)com(dot)apk galaxy
Step 7 - Install the recompiled Galaxy Wearable apk
- Upload the file to your phone and install the apk
- You will also need the Galaxy Watch Plugin apk, can be downloded at the url: www(dot)apkmirror(dot)com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/galaxy-watch-plugin/
- Enjoy your watch!
No idea about java, apktools, text editor etc? Just follow these easy steps (at your own risk):
- Download the already recompiled apk at at the url: uploadfiles(dot)io/o4dty and install
- Download the galaxy watch plugin apk at at the url: www(dot)apkmirror(dot)com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/galaxy-watch-plugin/galaxy-watch-plugin-2-2-05-18102551-release/galaxy-watch-plugin-2-2-05-18102551-android-apk-download/download/ and install.
- Enjoy your watch!
P.S.: Replace all "(dot)"s with a ".".
Thanks for the instructions but what Samsung phone has less than 1.5gb ram nowadays?

If the reason is memory limit, same steps would work quite well.
