I have a strange problem. The battery on my Pantech Burst Slimbean running 3.1.0 Final descends directly load from 36% to 29% and then the phone turns off and only turns on when I plug in the charger.
What's going on?
Can someone help me with this problem?
It's probably the battery. Even if you think it's "fully charged", batteries wear out.
I've had this happen before.

Had the same problem. It got solved when I got a new battery.
It Could very well be the battery.
Well, i think you should calibrate your battery and see if it works.
If it does not, please take a look at your battery to see if it got swollen.
I have an Galaxy S4, I used it for round 5 months with rom cook, after a while the phone started to switch off even when I got 90% of battery.I tried to reflash the rom and calibrate blah blah blah but It turned out that my battery got swollen and i had to purchase a new one.
So good luck! I hope yours is ok !
I Have a SGS2 and i have the exact problem even on two new batteries? one came with the phone got swollen and didnt held a charge. new one took it for about 1 week and started shutting off at 40% purchased another battery but it too have the problem? Please help

When I got the jasjar 3 days ago there didnt seem to be any issues, so I upgraded to the Helmi_UNI_AKU3.3_v1.2 everything seemed to work as it should then my battery reached 40% and bam the device shutoff. So I tried the 3.5 and same thing, now I have my original ROM JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.exe back on and its a little better it gets to 33% then dies.
I know this wasnt happening prior to me owning this device as it was my close friend who gave it to me.
Can anyone shed any light on why this would be happening?
Thanks in advance.
Battery
You have to buy a new battery. Your battery is damaged. A few months ago I had the same problem. The Universal battery has a life spam of 6 to 12 months. At a certain point when you drop your phone or flash a new image, the battery forgets its state. It will think that there is enough power left but in fact the voltage is dropping to fast and the phone shuts itself off. Believe me you need another battery.
Thank you
Thank you very much for your advice, I just ordered a new one.
So when I flash new roms I should use my old battery?
Thanks again
Question
Does anyone know why batteries die so fast.
I had a battery the first go out at 20% then it grew to 55%
I couldn't use my Universal for a day.
I went back to the store and got a new battery.
I think, when you flash your device with a new rom and or radio. You should have your device fully charged.
Can anyone confirm?
Not sure on the answer, but I have 2 batteries, one 12 months old the other 2 months old & the Uni with 3.3 on it started this behaviour yesterday whichever battery it is using - roughly 30% left.
I am upgrading my other Uni to 3.5 just now to see whether that one suffers the same.
As I have a new battery & am having the same fault I am not so sure .....

It is a hardare issue, unlikely a software issue.
I do not agree. At first I had the same idea. I thought the device must be broken. I bought a new battery but still I had the same problem. But at the tech center thay gave me a free new battery to prove I was wrong. I got a original MDA PRO battery and when I use that battery it stops working at 2-3%.
1. So order an orginal battery. Use the old one when flashing.
2. Be sure that the battery is fully changed. Flashing can skrew-up the memory state of the battery. When that happens the current sate will be te fully charged state and it looks like it stops at 40%. But in fact it is does never get fully loaded.
This issues have already being discussed and sort of already concluded in many other threads, you can make a search.
Just to summarise,
1. Most of them agree it is a battery problem. Lithium Polymer is no good after around 6 months.
2. Few isolated cases of not battery problem which is hardware related.
3. I always activesync with my old spoiled battery (this is just my personal advice as I do not want to risk my new battery). This also avoids USB charging.
4. Charge only when LED is RED (less than 10%) and until LED turns GREEN (real 100%).
Add 2 more O2 XDAs with HW probs
Mine and a work colleagues Execs (bought early Jan 06 under their ****-up £99 scheme) both started to shut down at odd power reserves as in this thread. Both had new batteries, both before and since new batts sometimes wouldn't charge or recognise the power cables.
Also, both have been back to O2 for repairs with the result when they come back, one is in exactly the same state as before, and the other (mine) stck in splash screen. Both came with a note from O2 saying problem found and repaired, and even a QA check slip (ie:evidently no QA - are they pulling a fast one or what?)
Anyways, both are going back to O2 to try again.
If you are in warranty, get it back to them. Wait for the battery by all means but my experience says this is more than a battery problem.
Sorry, thats not what you wanted to hear I know.
Joe
Hope you get your Hardware problem fixed, like those cases mentioed in the other threads.
Mine is the battery problem like most cases mentioned in other threads.
My new battery now can goes from GREEN 100% to RED 0% to complete shutdown is possible.
But I normally charge around RED less than 5%.
I've got a HTC TyTN (hermes) and i have this problem: my battery wears off in maximum 3 hours after i fully charge it. all the connections are turned off, except for the phone function. also, while it's charging, no matter if it's charging through the usb or the AC charger, the battery gets very hot. PLEASE can anyone help? what could be causing this?
(i have the black satin normal rom, with the 1.43.00.00 radio version installed)
Had the exact same problem... if you have warranty then send it back.
It's screwed.
no warranty. no warranty. got it yesterday from some guy. so it's not only a battery or software issue? what did they tell you it had?
im having the same problem ive been going through the forums and short of freezing my fone (ooohhhkkkkkkk) i have trieid almost everything ma batt normaly gets hot after charging and lasts about 3 hours cant send it bk but soft reseting after a charge has helped today this morning it lasted three hours so far im on 6 so it is helping
keep me posted hope it works. i really like the phone and wouldn't want to have to get reid of it
Had the same problem in the last two weeks (short charge, hot battery, etc.). Just got a generic replacement battery in the mail today. The new battery has remained charged 7 hours at full capacity w/o drain so far. The OEM batteries that ship with the 8525 seem to be junk.
My battery is acting up too. As the weeks go by, my battery life seems to be shorter. I don't know if its related to all the programs I have loaded on it or the 3G on all the time. I have schaps 4.31 radio 1.54.07.00. EMOZE and CONSILIENT running, that could be it or the oem battery is finally going (8 months old).
just curious where do you guys get your batteries from, I have a HTC X01HT(herms 200)
i have the original battery that came with the phone.also hermes200
When I got my 8525 new, I couldn't make it 8 hours without a dead battery. even if I left the phone asleep on my desk. Went to the AT&T store, and had them replace my battery, and the problem went away.
When I am out of the country, I turn off all my normal conections, and I can get up to 3 days on my phone if I am careful. I would guess you just have a bad battery.
maybe. but what about the fact that the battery heats up whenever i charge it, no matter if it's on the usb or the ac charger? and then it stays warm for 3 hours until it dies. did you have that problem too?

i just started having a problem tonight. I got a notification at a battery life of 20% was remaining which is normal I charged my battery on the night of March 3rd. Unplugged it on the 4th and by the end of the day it had only dropped 20% which is normal.
Well by the end of today I am getting a notification saying that my phone needs to charged again. Since I have had my phone it has never dropped 60% in one day.
Also the battery has never felt hot.
Any suggestions? I am running K's Flexi Rom but i don't believe its the rom because I've been using it for over a month.
i've contacted the htc support from my country and they replied saying they can not answer my question. so i've ordered a non-htc battery for my hermes, just hoping it's responsible for my issue
If my battery does what it did again then i'll try to take it to AT&T to see if they can get me a new battery but if not where did you order a battery from?
I had the problem where my battery only lasted about 4-5 hours before it went dead. All I did was get a new one, which I've had now for about 9 or so months, no prob's.....lasts a couple of days easily

hi. i just got my new phone E980. its the AT&T model. the batter is so ambiguous man... like i got the phone just yesterday, started checking out the phone and the battery was like 23%.
after LITERALLY like 10 mins the battery went to like 12%... i was like WOOOOT.....
i discharged the phone completely and then took out the battery and discharged any remaining power from phone as its recommended.
then i charged the phone to full and started using again like paystore apps downloading.
as i checked the battery from setting the idle was using like 3rd most battery in the list after screen and android OS.
what is this man??? isnt it supposed to be a phablet? is it ok for my phone to be this worst at battery. this is first ever non-Samsung phone and i m used to good battery life where idle does not take freaking 3rd most of the battery... WTF... im kinda disappointed
also can someone tell me and pls like me here any good roms and how to root this phone and also tell me which roms provide good battery life?
i will be so thankful for these links...
smiler what happened to me :\
now i need to wait for new battery to arrive
EDIT:
small tip
its might help the sudden restarting if changing the processor speed to 1ghz max
I've solve the same Issue by using an Ipad Charger because the 3140Mah battery need a 2 Ampere charger.
First day my F240L drain full battery in 3 hours, the 100% charge was fake by charging with Galaxy S3 charger (I got Phone Used without Charger), the phone show 100% charge but the value was fake.
Try a charger with 2 Ampere Output.
This metod is working with ipad charger and Galaxy Tab 3 charger.
I hope that my Hint work for you.
Now my battery works very well. yesterday i disconnect phone at 8.30 am and at the 23.30 the charge was 47%, with mid-heavy use and wifi turned on all the day.
Plus 1!

Sorry that's all I got but you will see in the first screen shot during the 3 days the phone was powered on and off charge, the screen used 35% of the battery. I have had 2 previous phones, TMO GS2 and ATT Note1 and never had the battery last longer than around 24-26 hours on any ROM under similar circumstances. That is with notifications enabled and data and Wifi active but Bluetooth off.
2nd screenshot shows phone was sleeping (offline) 95% of the time so if my calculation is correct, on screen time would calculate out at 4394 minutes * (100-95.4) % = 202 minutes or around 3.3 hours during the 3 days I was using it (little more than 1 hour a day). Assuming the screen was on whenever the phone was online.
You just need to press Screen to see screen time

Thanks for the tip. Did not know that!
Hey guys, just got the phone on Saturday. It's been awesome until today. I noticed it has been draining super fast. I put it on the charger and it would not charge past 89%, and at 89% it said there was 1m left until full. I turned off the phone and let it charge to 100%, but when I turned it on it almost immediately dropped to 90%.
What could be the issue? Do you think a simple factory reset could fix it, or should I take the phone back to Best Buy for a new one?
Edit: using the corded charger that came with the phone
This just started happening to me as well.
My phone will say fully charged, and when I unplug it will immediately drop to ~91-93%. Not sure if it's a faulty battery or what not, as I too have been using the wireless charger and block given to me with the phone.
I'm going to Best Buy during my lunch today to see if they have any idea and will update if there's any useful news.
that is weird. I haven't had the issue on mine, though I only charge with a USB cable (I don't have a wireless pad). From my rooting days, there is a battery config file that remembers things like battery charging history, so a factory reset might be useful, though it's a painful process to get a phone back up and customized fully after a reset.
Hopefully best buy has a better answer...though it might be as simple as replacing the phone, to which a factory reset might have been easier...
Anchor - how is the battery life on your phone?
I think my battery might be a defective one as I can barely get through half of a day with 1 1/2 hours of SOT - and that includes taking several steps to try to maximize battery life.
Just a quick update:
Stopped by Best Buy today and talked to a surprisingly knowledgable Samsung person. He said I'm the second person with an issue like this and believes it's a faulty battery, so they're going to give me a new phone.
To my knowledge this is the only explanation as my battery was lasting half a day.
Same here... I just got this phone yesterday and the battery drains very quick. I will return it and get the htc M9.

Final Update: Battery has been much much better on the new phone. Previously I'd be around 50% by lunchtime and today I'm at 85% with nearly the exact same use.
what was your usge in your previous phone?
Sent from my SM-G920P using XDA Free mobile app
Ever since I upgraded to Marshmallow, the phone is shutting off at 35%.
If I plug it into a fast charger it'll start back up. Non fast charger forget it. Battery shows 35% when I plug it in to charge.
Took it to Best Buy after speaking to an AT&T tech. The Samsung rep at BB, said he ran some recovery software to check for missing or corrupted files associated with the upgrade. It appeared that they just reinstalled the 6.01 update.
Anyways it did nothing and the Samsung tech said I could try doing a factory reset or maybe try a new battery. He then said that if the problem started after the the MM update, then that's the issue. He mumbled something about the phone just wasn't able to handle MM blah blah blah.
ATT offered to ship me a new phone with a working upgrade.
Before I go that route or try a factory reset, I thought I'd check here for other ideas.
Not happy with the phone since the MM upgrade. Along with the phone shutting off issue, it's shutting off while charging on my wireless charger, phone screen is screwed up in landscape mode and doesn't show any of the buttons that show in portrait mode.
Is there a battery calibration app that will run on this without root?
I'm a computer tech, with a VZW N4. I popped over here to see if I could help a friend with the ATT N4. Looks like he's stuck without root, but saw your post and decided to reply.
I always recommend installing 'Battery Left Widget' from the Play Store and use it on the main screen. If you want to test the battery... do the following. But I'd recommend getting a new battery. It's most likely the cause of your problem.
Go to the settings and change the 'Discharging Widget Man Text' to "Estimated Battery %". The other settings can be as you wish, but I prefer the 2nd to be time remaining and 3rd to be time dead. Do the same for the charging options.
Let it calibrate for a few days. If you see a big discrepancy between the system battery (in the top right) and the widget, you've got a dying battery. Buy a new one. My Verizon version of the Note 4 started dying at 22% and rebooting. Dying battery was the cause. I knew this because it would read 72% in the top, but 42% in Battery Left Widget. And when it would get to 5% in the widget, it would start rebooting. The other battery at the top was reading much higher. A new battery fixed my woes. However the OTA upgrade to MM did a job on the battery too.
One word of advice ... turn off Fast Charging. It probably killed your battery in the first place. The original Samsung chargers will still charge it to full in a couple hours, but Fast Charging does something bad to the batteries, and they don't last as long. I know, I've had a Note 4 since day one, and I'm on my 4th battery.
A note about MM upgrade. I have to say, I wasn't a fan either. My battery didn't last as long on MM as it did on LP. The tricks about doing a full wipe didn't help. The only fix was to get my VZW model rooted and I regained control. Now I have a MM rom that actually works well and gives me 15 hours a day of usage, 3+ hours of on screen time.
What rom you are using anyway. I have changed my battery and switched to miui 8. But problem remains same with an extended battery life... But mine won't charge more than 67% and shut down @ 12% with a SOT of 3 hours and above.

I would try your battery in another device, just as a test.
Well ... mine is a VZW Note 4, not AT&T. I've used multiple roms over the past few months. I don't know what type of extended battery you are using, but if it's the ZeroLemon, it may need a better kernel to work with it. The phone doesn't know about extended batteries without additional instructions, so charging and time to empty can vary.
I just know I will NEVER buy another Samsung battery from anywhere. I think 99% of them are fake. I went with an Anker brand and it's been perfect.
Currently, I'm running MODest v5 ROM. I just installed Nseven on a 2nd device as a test. As for the MODest ROM, after only a couple of days of testing, it looks like I'll get even better battery life than I did with PaulPizz v2 (over 16 hours of heavy use compared to the 13 with PaulPizz)
Thanks for your quick reply... Im using samsung original Stock battery and there is sticker of smart care and it is from a samsung showroom
So no idea its original or not.. Should have been original... My note 4 SM 910S SK tel korian version so the rom options are very limited. Do not have any warranty period left so im confused whether i should go for a hardware checkup... Anyway im pissed of since the marshmallow arrives....the problem started right after that update.. Since then i have changed rom changed battery.. So now i guess i have to change the phone finally... Anyway thanks for your reply..
I have the same problem with charging to only 67%
If you take out the battery it will continue charging to 100%.
All this cr*p started when updated to MM
Going back to stock 5.0.1 and doing the #*0228# reset should help.
And samsung batteries are a disaster, even the genuines ones.
