N7105 Flash problem - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone
Got a N7105 from someone who requested assistance to reflash his HP. The clown din know what he was doing, so there goes...
'Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode from KIES and try again' is displayed when powered up. Tried to connect to KIES but it does not detect the phone even when windows has installed the drivers. Re-installed drivers also no use.
Able to go into download mode and this is what I see:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PRODUCT CODE: GT-N7105
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (39 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
KNOX WARRANY VOID: 1
RP SWVER: A2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connected via Obin and tried to restore it with stock rom but it refused to flash it. Been trying the whole night. Anyone knows how to solve this?

What error do you get when you try to flash with odin?

Maybe you should try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47936346&postcount=20
I'd solved the same problem yesterday.

I've had the same issues happen as well. Kies fails, as well as Odin. Both Odin 1.85 and the newer 3.09 (?) fail for me well. I have posted several different posts but have not found any solutions. I've become too paranoid to attempt custom ROMs, even a root my device.
My only suggestion is to keep trying. The last time I had my issue I had close to 20 failures before it finally flashed the stock firmware.

[n7100]Bootloop after installing DN3 Bootloader

Hi,
Just brought my note II three days ago, and looking to update on 4.3. Phone was rooted, Philz installed, stock rom installed (this on : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2605464).
After boot I didn't have wifi, so I follow the instructions to install the bootloader, and after that impossible to boot and impossible to flash again.
I don't know if it's because the bootloader is locked or the NAND is corrupted.
I tried to flash with original stock to fix, but same result, always the same result.

There are two things You can try.... Flashing using hemdall recovery or else try flashing the firmware along with the modem file. It worked for me. Do try this after re-installing the Samsung USB driver.

I will look for thx.
Do you have a link for the firmware + modem you installed please.
The modem is integrate the TAR I downloaded I guess (got it from sammobile).
Since my S2, it's first time I have a problem, usually I found the answer on the forum or internent, but not this time.

Yes you find the modem you were using and flash it with the rom in Odin. Next time if Wi-Fi doesn't turn on don't flash the bootloader instead Flash Dr ketan's Wi-Fi patch zip file in recovery. It worked for me.

I tried to flash Stock ROM + MODEM, MODEM alone, always the same problem. (I used odin3.07)
I will try with the other soft, but I have to look for the tar.gz or change my tar.md5 to tar.gz (...but not with windows, i'm not confident in it for that -_-)

[Q] Sprint Galaxy S3, Trying to flash Stock ROM, ODIN 3.07, Stuck on sbl2.mbn

I would assume its because you're attempting to downgrade. Try this in Odin instead
http://rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/S...0VPUCMK3_L710SPRCMK3_L710VPUCMK3_HOME.tar.exe
At this point, DO NOT reboot the phone. If you had read the Knox faq, you would know that attempting to flash a < MK3 stock tar will while on the Knox bootloader will immediately brick your phone because the older firmware will not get written. Right now, you need to immediately flash an MK3 full stock tar if you don't want a fancy paperweight.

Thank you for the tar file. I'm also curious on the the topic...are there more than one Odin? I have Odin3, (some sites refer to it as Odin3, ODIN, or just Odin) versions 1.87 (the one you told me to try), 3.07, and 3.09. I wasn't under the impression that certain versions of Odin worked better for some than others. Do they? And, is Odin and Odin3 different? I appreciate your help on this subject.
Uninstalled the USB drivers then reinstalled them with SGS3 tool kit, swapped to original cable from Samsung galaxy s4,, as well as USB port... It has a status bar on Odin first time .... Hold tight.
IT PASSED!
To be clear for people that have this same problem in the future...
Uninstall Kies, if you have it
Run a registry cleaner, I used CCleaner
Install Samsung Galaxy USB Drivers through SGS3 Toolkit
Use Odin 1.87 in Admin
Use MK3 tar in PDA section, leave auto reboot and reset time
Use original or I'm assuming Samsung USB cable
If one port doesnt work, try another USB port
Thank you everyone for your input and help, folks like you make this site worth using. :good:

Are you able to boot in recovery? (home + vol up + power) - You could just reflash from there.
Do you know what you formatted in recovery?
I can get to recovery and download mode but I'm on stock recovery and can't flash anything. I must have formatted /system or /data

Have you tried flashing a custom recovery through Odin?
Also, if you're on 4.4.4, chances are that your bootloaders are on 4.3+. You'll need the MJB (4.3) or NE4 (4.4.2) stock to flash through Odin.
Downgrading bootloaders will result in a brick, therefore it's a good thing it's not going through!
I flashed TWRP and got a pass but every time I get into recovery mode I just get a black screen.
Where can I get NE4?
Thanks

I think so but you only can be sure if you updated your bootloaders to 4.3 (or up to the new NE4 4.4.2).

The error at aboot.mbn tells me you have the 4.3 bootloader on your phone. By trying to flash a stock Samsung ROM in Odin means Odin will try and downgrade the bootloader to an older version which cannot be done once you are on a stock 4.3 bootloader. Don't keep using Odin to flash a stock Samsung ROM as it may brick your phone.

[Q] ODIN fails when flashing stock firmware HELP!

My phone randomly stopped working the other day. When its off, it'll start up on its own (without the power button being touched) but only get past the "samsung" screen a couple times and then shut back off. I tried flashing the stock firmware via odin but it fails every time (I've used versions 1.86, 3.04 and 3.09). As of now, my phone is totally useless. All I can do is put it into download mode. Any ideas?
This is what odin says every time

Odon is failing because you are trying to downgrade the firmware. After 4.3 you cannot do this anymore. It looks like you probably updated to 4.4.2 via ota. Correct? If so there is no firmware you can flash as att refuses to release it.
Take your battery out and put it back in. If it tries to turn on by itself your power switch is bad and needs replacing.

My phone keeps blinking and it won't charge, so, I've tried to flash the stock rom via ODIN and it says:
Code:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> N5100XXDNG2_N5100OXEDNG1_N5100XXDNE2_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..

While flashing the ROM, i saw this code:
Code:
KNOX WARRANTY VOID 0
RP SWREV A1
And I've tried several times, but it always FAILS!
I've tried to go to Recovery mode through Kies,
>Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation >Type the Model Name: and it did not detect the Phone.
Hoping that someone can help me with this. Thanks guys!

Use Odin v3.07 and flash in PDA mode. Also, make sure you have the right tar file for your Note and turn Kies off so it doesn't interfere with Odin.

If you are sure you have the correct file for your device and are using Odin correctly, might try using Heimdall to flash instead of Odin: http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/
I had a similar problem with my note 8.0. I can't remember exactly what I did but I managed to get it to reboot. It'll reboot to download but after it booted into download mode my Odin was able to find it.

I think maybe holding down the power button should reboot it.

Tried heimdall, but no work. I think it's because of Knox. It won't flash Stock rom through Odin or heimdall.
BTW, i flashed a recovery through Odin and it works. Now im running a Custom Rom. Thanks for the help guys!
I'm currently in the same situation
What recovery did you flash?
I odin 4.4.4 poland.. it failed, it says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies
I can't go to recovery, I tried to odin recovery but no luck
and in odin mode it says Secure Download : enabled
EDIT: I use philz_touch_6.48.4-n5100.tar.md5.. and it works
