you'll have to root and install a custom sense kernel for INT2EXT support in the stock rom

i have rooted my phone.
and also have partitioned sd card.
i flashed cron mod in2ext+ and there was no change.
then when i browsed for some time i got to know,
that the rom should have int.d support and i did not know how to
create a int.d support.
now finally i am using this :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143410.
yes now this rom has int.d support and also i have increased the internal memory.

I'm an HTC Desire user and I'm thinking of rooting my phone for the 1st time ever but before I perform this I'm having doubts about some questions. I hope i get answers of these..
I have found this guide on this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Using this guide I will be able to root my phone, after rooting where will the apps be installed by default? will I be able to save my phone memory?
If the official gingerbread for desire arrives in the future, will I be able to update it? what will be the procedure then ? the update over the custom ROM will be possible or not or I'll have to revert back to the default ROM?
I'm a very newbie in all this rooting stuff. Please help me in getting these confusions clear. any other suggestions that would help me in rooting my phone are also welcome
Yes that thread is good to go.. and the installation of app is depend on the custom rom you pick.. there are many option available.. which are A2SD, D2SD, D2EXT,
Where A2SD will move only the app to SD card
D2SD will move app and its data to SD card
And D2EXT need a EXT partition on your SD and that will be used for apps and data and cache too..
You can anytime revert back to the orignal ROM and do the OTA updates.
like you can root.. you can unroot too.
But beofre doing anything please create a goldcard.. HERE... this will help you getting back to orignal or incase any disaster happen..
In simple words.. use Unrevoked 3 to root your device.. which will give you custom recovery.. and from recovery you can flash any custom rom.
Hope that helps
i have successfully s off my desire(offical gb updated) with reolutionary pre release....
i do not want to install cm recovery ...
how can i root my phone....?
the zip file for adding super user is not working with default recovery of desire ..
simply installing super user app i am not getting root permissions for apps
and via adb i am unable to remove system apps
i just want to remove couple of apps from system .....
You need a custom recovery like cwm or amonra. Why do you think you don't want this essential component?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
actually i have never experimented much with cm recovery options and never want to use or intend so.....
i just need to kick out few system apps like google maps ..............
so with out s-0n it was not working
but with s -off still unable to remove apps access denied error ( via adb )
Yes because the rom needs root, which you need custom recovery to do
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Just install CWM already! It's a very handy piece of software (nandroid back-ups etc.), even if you're not a custom ROM aficionado.

guys how to root with out cm recovery .............?
What's your problem with cwm? Why don't you go s-off with revolutionary and then flash another recovery? You do not have to use cwm recovery. If you really want to avoid it, I would say you should ask the revolutionary team via irc. Maybe they tell how to change recovery before running their program.
i just want to remove few system apps from stock ginger bread ...........
so just tell me a way to do it ...........
what difference does it make to you whether you do or you do not have a custom recovery? Furthermore... I don't even know if flashing a superuser binary would even work on the stock gingerbread so you might not be able to root it.
reading and searching forum i came to conclusion that with s 0ff i can delete system apps .......
but still i am unble to remove system apps ..
when i try to remove apps from system permission denied error is faced ......
on further investigation came to conclusion i also need root access for removing system apps

Hi there! here is CWM flashable rooting and unrooting method..
I'm sure this works on all Android phones with CWM..
Benefits:
- you can unroot custom ROMs
- rooting and unrooting can be done on all ROM with CWM
- you can UNROOT custom ROMs as long as your busybox is installed in /system/xbin
or, if your Superuser.apk, su binary, and BusyBox is old, and you are lazy to update manually, you can do it with this!
NOTE: ONLY USE CWM RECOVERY
HERE'S THE LINK: ROOT and UNROOT
IF YOU RUNNING SOMETHING AS ROOT (SUPERSCRIPT, ETC.), DO NOT UNROOT! YOU MAY GET BRICK
AND UNROOTING MAY CAUSE PROBLEMS ON SOME CUSTOM ROMS.. I'VE WARNED YOU.. I BELIEVE UNROOTING CUSTOM ROMS WON'T HARDBRICK OUR PHONE, BUT IT CAN MAKE YOUR PHONE BOOTLOOP..
SO BEFORE UNROOTING CUSTOM ROMS, NANDROID BACKUP WITH CWM FIRST!
FEATURES: (28 October 2012)
- latest "Superuser.apk" (v3.1.3) (46)
- latest "su binary" (v3.1.1) (17)
- latest "BusyBox" (v1.20.2) and its applets
I WILL UPDATE IF I NOT FORGET AND IF I KNOW THERE'S A NEW UPDATE
TUTORIAL: (for both root and unroot)
- CWM ~> mounts and storage ~> mount /system
- CWM ~> install zip from sdcard ~> find your zip
- reboot
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
This will not break the root in CM9? Please enlighten me. Thank you...
Can you make a version with SuperSu instead of Superuser, please?

Unfortunately this file didn't root my device.
On cwm I install it from the sdcard and no error message is shown. But nothing seems to be installed. No root , no superuser app.
What else can I try ?
this is my stock firmware:

what do you mean ?
I've used CWM recovery for lots of purposes on several Android devices in the last 3 years. I've nevere needed to mount /system.
Even for installing a custom ROM.
For this root purpose, shall I need to mount /system ?
yes mr..
when installing ROMs, the system mounted automatically by the script inside the flashable. mine is not

The steps in all the threads and the videos are the same, the only difference is the recovery used. There seem to be different versions and types of recoveries circulating here so new comers to the grand community get confused
Either way, first thing you need to decide is which ROM you prefer and accordingly you can upgrade or not
unofficial CM10.1.3 by patwip is stable and only supports 4.1.2 firmware
GENNXT ROM is a stock based boosted ROM with lots of ported apps that runs on 4.2.2 firmware (there is also a 4.1.2 version of it but it's dated)
This is the main and original recovery thread with both 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 recoveries, use the tar files while rooting since they can used with Odin, the zip files is for when you are switching from a different custom recovery like philz or twrp or different variant of cwm

After which, you can follow this step by step post to root your phone

This means this phone can't be rooted directly
I have to install a recovery for get it rooted..
BTW I DON'T WANT TO TEST ROMS ON MY DEVICE..(FOR NOW)..I JUST WANT TO GET ROOT ACCESS..
So which version is easy to root
4.1.2 or 4.2.2

Both are equally easy if done right. But you are gonna stick to firmware for now, I'd suggest go for 4.2.2 as it has certain improvements in looks and battery that you might enjoy

The method I'm referring to installs a recovery, then in steps 10 and 12 I've asked to flash two files. The first is two give the recovery certain permissions, so it doesn't revert to stock on each boot and can flash files, and the second is the commonly used root app, superSU 1.65 to give your apps root access
worked perfectly
thanks buddy
this one worked perfectly as per your instructions
now i have a rooted 4.2.2
thanks a lot again!!!
what to do?

Guys,
I need help regarding root of Stock ROM Lollipop. 5.0.
I unlocked boot loader, flashed twrp recovery but when it comes to flash rooting tools (Android revolution hd rooting tool) it does not flash and does not root the ROM. In recovery it says failed/ unable to mount cache ...
Am I doing something wrong or it the zip file which may not be compatible with stock rom?
Do you guys have any zip file which can root stock rom or the best would be if there is any rom already rooted but not modified. I like to stick to stock rom but want to get rid of bloatware.
I appreciate any advice, help or solution which may you provide to me.
Please do not ask me to search on google or XDA because I already did it and bother many people in the specific forums. As a result that they could not provide me with the solution I was forced to write in Help& Troubleshooting forum.

Don't use a tool.
Download the update SuperSU.zip from here and flash it in recovery.
After the flash, find SuperSU in your app drawer and open it. You will be prompted to update binaries. Do that.
That's it. You are rooted.

I second that. The tool used by the OP is probably not updated to work on Lollipop.
Also, OP should make sure to run an updated version of TWRP (2.8.7) as anything but the last few (several?) versions of TWRP will not work on the Lollipop hboot.
