I am currently using Wicked ROM v4 on T-Mobile and I am having trouble with tethering. I am using the stock tethering app and I can connect to the phone and browse sites like google.com, but a lot of other sites are not loading.
Some examples of sites that are working are:
google.com
aircrack-ng.org
Sites that aren't working:
whatismyipaddress.com
whatismyip.com
kali.org
This is happening in both Linux and Windows. I am able to go to the sites that aren't working if I browse to them on my phone. I am also unable to SSH or telnet.
Is anybody else experiencing a similar problem? Is there a rom that is better suited to tethering?
I'm using Darthstalker V4 and tether works great. I changed the APN settings and now all sites work. Give that rom a try.

Which APN settings did you change? Mine is already set to only use IPv4. Strange that it is showing an IPv6 address.
I set APN protocol and APN roaming to IPv4 and works without issues.

Sounds like missing APN for MMS, your carrier should have a tutorial or be able to send you the MMS setup via their homepage.

Should go back to those ROMs and see what APNs you have available that are giving you working MMS. Copy those down and use them on cm9.
I had this problem too. Turns out the "user agent" in the MMS.apk was wrong. No attempts to set the APN correctly fixed it, mainly because my APN settings were right from the start.
This thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376481&page=6
has the mms.apk with the correct user agent set. Download it and delete the one in your system / apps folder, replace it with the one you downloaded. Mine worked straight away after doing this.
good luck...
Hi everyone. I recently purchased a Galaxy S2 on the Koodo network and applied the Jedi Mind Trick ROM. Now everything works great, except I can't download mms messages. It just reads the time, date, size and "downloading". I've tried checking and unchecking the Auto-retrieve box and tried on either my data connection or Wifi at home and I can't get it to work. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Have you been able to download mms messages before on your T989? Do you have a data plan?

Put data on and if still not working try this : in messaging app hit menu, go setting and uncheck auto-retrieve... Works for me!

Yes, I have a data plan. I've only had it for a few weeks and I've never recieved an mms until a week ago and it didnt work. I tried the autoretrieve box on or off and it still didnt work. I read that it may have something to do with my VPN?
Are you connected to wifi?
If you are, just restart your phone and click download. Always works for me
I tried to download w/ wifi, but it didn't work. Restarting the phone also didn't work, Should I have some sort of value in the mms section of my VPN if its a Koodo phone?

Its your APN not VPN, they're different. You could be missing some fields in your APN.

Has anyone gotten any openvpn client to work on the note 3 using t-mobile data? I can connect via wifi and thru tethering my laptop to my note 3 but not on note 3 with data on 4g

Works fine for me, I use it every day. What VPN app do you use?

Weird, I tried openvpn connect and openvpn for Android. Using tun connection, non standard port tho and my certs are in the config... What is your setup like?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
I use OpenVPN Settings with a tap connection, standard port, TCP protocol (though udp worked over 4g, it was my work's wifi that blocks udp so I switched to tcp). Phone takes an address on my router where the server's hosted and all is good.
Im using open vpn over data as we speak. Air Vpn is my provider.

Gotta add, "admin" without parenthesis to the apn type and also change to ipv4/ipv6
Bravo!

Where do I make these changes and how?
Do I create a new apn? With same or different settings?
Nvm, I was being lazy. .. so I created a new apn and copied all the settings over and added admin in and set to ipv4/ipv6 and it now works! Thank you so much!
Now any idea why admin has to be added?
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
When you created a new APN are you referring to making one from your phone's Settings -> Connections -> More Networks -> VPN?
Or were you referring to doing all this in OpenVPN Connect App?
The reason I ask is because if done within the phone under settings there is only:
PPTP (horrible as we know),
L2TP/IPSec PSK,
L2TP/IPSec RSA,
IPSec Xauth PSK,
IPSec Xauth RSA,
IPSec Hybrid RSA.
Please clarify as my VPN all of a sudden stopped working (not connecting) on mobile data...only connects on Wifi....it's frustrating.
Thanks.

More network settings . Mobile networks . Access Point Names
Create a new entry, make the settings same as before, but add admin in with supl and whatnot as mentioned above

Odd problem here. I start wifi tethering on my Nexus 4, connect my tablet, and try to browse using Chrome, but can't get anywhere. Every page I've tried to load just keeps loading and loading forever. However, I can browse using the built-in browser, every other internet-requiring app (Netflix, Twitter) works, and Chrome works just fine if I'm connected to my wifi at home.
Anyone have any thoughts on why this would be?

Not sure this is a Wifi Tether issue. I Tether alot and use Chrome with it without any issues.
That's weird that chrome doesn't work while tethering

You may have to set up proxy for chrome based on your apn

Something along these lines was correct. Changing T-mobile APNs re-enabled tethering with no issues.

Stock T-Mobile Note 3 here and I only have wifi coverage at my house. I can send and receive calls and SMS just fine, but not MMS.
My brother's phone, a stock T-Mobile S5, can do MMS on the same wifi network so I know it's not that.
Any suggestions on a fix? I have tried changing my APN settings to ipv4/ipv6 on APN Protocol and APN Roaming Protocol
Thanks for any help!
Are you using the stock messaging app? Only the stock Samsung app can send mms on wifi calling.
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Free mobile app
Google hangouts is supposed to do both over wifi.
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Free mobile app
So far you're right only the stock app has let me do MMS over wifi.
How do I set up Hangouts to make it work though? I tried the custom APNs in the Hangouts settings but that hasn't seemed to work.

I'm on stock towelroot rooted 4.4.2 and MMS works for me with Hangouts over Wifi at home and with GoGo Wifi in airplanes. I didn't have to do anything, it just works.
