[Q] EFS partition restoration - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hello,
I looked at other threads regarding the EFS partition but none that really answer my question. I hope it's not a stupid question...
So basically, I was trying out a new ROM and made a backup using TWRP. I inadvertently backed up the data partition separately, but I figured that didn't matter. I then backed up all other partitions (EFS and Modem included) in a separate file. I didn't like the new ROM I tried so I went to restore my backups. When restoring the "everything sans data" backup, I kept getting an md5 error, even though I didn't create an md5 upon backup nor did I ask it to look for an md5 on restoration. I decided to try and restore everything except the EFS, and it worked. Phone is up and running and it doesn't seem like there are any issues. Can someone please explain this to me? I'm assuming the existing EFS partition was never changed, so restoring everything but the EFS should still result in a complete system, but can anyone suggest a reason why it failed when trying to restore EFS with everything else? Thanks!

[Q] Restoring a broken nandroid backup

First off I'm at the final stage before I introduce a 'software error' onto this phone and return it to a sprint shop for a replacement.
I have a broken nandroid backup, that DID however backup my wimax partition.
Now, my wimax RSA keys got nuked somehow and I figure if there's a way for me to restore JUST the wimax.img file, I might be in with a chance of having a workable evo again.
The thing is, I can only find guides for restoring a full nandroid backup, and nothing for restoring wimax individually.
Would anyone be able to help?
Thanks.
welp, i answered my own question.
I just copied the nandroid backup .img to wimax.img in my root directory and everything works fine now
Remember boys and girls - BACKUP FIRST. Thank-me
I might be wrong, but you should be able to make a new backup, and just copy the WiMax partition over. If your keys got nuked though, it might throw off the checksum of the backup, which I don't know how to change. And again, thats mostly theory, I'm no Dev.
Do a new nandroid backup, reboot, brows your SD card for nandroid, then there will be another folder, and inside that one will be the different backups. Open up the one with the working wimax partition, copy it, and put it in the nandroid you want to recover.
I would be sure to do yet another nandroid backup, just in case you mess something up.
Edit: Slow typing ftl, looks like you got it!

nandroid img files restore question

So heres the situation. I made a backup of my phone using rom manager because I wanted to try out the new cyanogen. I got done playing with it and I went to revert back to my restore I had just created. During the restore I got an md5 mismatch error.
I used the instructions here to repair the restore
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/40428-checking-md5-sum.html#post430944
su
cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/*rom name (date and time usually)/
md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
reboot recovery
The procedure worked in the sense that I was able to restore the image. The problem is after the restore I am stuck at the white "HTC Incredible" screen. I tried wiping caches and running the restore again but I am unable to get the phone to reboot.
I was able to restore to a much older restore that I had previously created but it lacks alot of updates and changes that I have made since then. Not to mention my Angry Birds saved game.
Looking at the restore files it looks like the folder for the restore contains a hand full IMG files. What i'm wondering is since it appears that the boot process is damaged I'm wondering if I could make a backup of the phone as it is now then take lets say the data.img file (or whatever file i need to recover installed apps and saved games) and overwrite the img files for the restore i just created. I could then use the same procedure I just performed to recreate the md5 hash and run the restore. My home is that will allow me to get my data back and still allow the phone to boot.
What do you guys think? Is it doable or am I going to be in a world of hurt if I start messing with this?
Something else you might try is to restore the latest backup, then do an advanced restore of just the boot partition from your older backup. It's worth a shot I'd think.
Did you put spaces or special characters when you named your backup? This can cause MD5 mismatch errors.

NO, I didn't. I used the default setting. I think it was 2010-12-29.01.34.10 or something like that.

Thanks man, This worked perfectly. Restoring the boot.img didn't fix the problem but restoring the system.img did. I have all my data back and my phone is fully functional again. Thanks again.

Unable to restore TWRP Backup!

Hi guys, having an issue trying to restore my CM 10.1 backup, everything will restore apart from data, I've checked the MD5 sum and the data backup is fine, I can manually extract the data backup without any issues it just won't restore through TWRP. Anyone any ideas?
it once happened to me, I'm using CWM
I just mounted data from mount and storage then started an advanced restore then data only.
so why don't you try "advanced restore"
if it doesn't work, it won't harm anything
I've just restored my data from the backup using titanium so now everything is recovered. It's just strange that TWRP wouldn't restore it.
Good to know
update to the latest TWRP (if you haven't) , it might be a known bug.. since the data is not corrupted nor missing and the md5 is correct
all we can assume is that it's TWRP fault , right?
anyway, restoring with titanium doesn't restore all the settings if I remember right, or does it?

[Q] What partitions do I need to Backup in order to restore EFS

Hello XDA, I am on the process of moving from stock 4.2.2 on my DUOS to a Custom ROM, I haeve my device currently ROOTED, with CWM, SU app, ROM has been backed up using CWM/ROM Manager, Stuff synced with Google, Apps backed up with Titanium, need to be sure I have a recoverable EFS backup.
Now here is where I halted the process because I have been reading quite a lot and talking to people used to flash their phones but none of them have a GT-I9082 and we aren't sure that about what partitions are vital for an EFS restore.
I know I have backed up using EFS Professional my EFS partition but other than that no other partition was available (Used International Variants option as filter, since my device isn't listed by default). I added manually a filter named ftaer my device, the way I made it was reading the PIT file and selecting all the available partitions, but I'm still not sure whether that would suffice to recover a broken EFS.
I would really appreciate any input from people who already recovered their EFS successfully either using EFS Professional or any other method, please tell me which partitions have you backed up.

Qfil .bin Restoring Error. Need a little help to restore all my partitions

Hello guys,
I have a question, yesterday I made a copy of all the partitions of the phone, one by one ... in qfil, using the partition manager.
The thing is, I wanted to test things and save my setup before formatting.
When I finished testing things, I started flashing the partitions one by one again. When I finished, I turned on the phone and I got a screen that said:
"Could not decrypt (or something like that), memory will be erased." Then it started to format data alone. And the Rom appeared at boot with nothing of mine configured, nothing of the backup, just like a factory reset.
Can someone help me to know what has happened? Do I need to flash the dm-verity-forceencrytp when restoring with qfil?
All I want is to restore my backup of .bin files
Before restoring, I flashed the base kdz of my backup. I do not understand that it could have gone wrong, or it could have gone wrong, and the backup is done by another method, other than backing up each of the partitions.
have you found any solution for this ?. I have the same problem.
