S3 wont boot, after using an app to change boot animation - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hello, im new to android and im inexpert, tryed to change the default boring boot animation, using an app called something like "Bootanim mod" downloaded from blackmart.I Applied a cool animation, the phone restarted, and now shows the logo, the boot music, the animation i put (with very bad resolution) and nothing more. Black screen. Please help me i have very important things inside the phone i dont want to lose.
The phone is rooted, could i backup the entire content in some way?

You were suppose to backup your content BEFORE you made such change. Idk if it'll work but are you running custom rom? Maybe dirty flash over it. Wait for some more insight. Maybe someone can chime in with better knowledge.

Do you have custom Recovery ? If yes then you could copy original Boot animation back and then Set permission correctly. The app may haver missed setting permissions correctly or may be the boot animation be coded incorrectly.
Please reflash existing Rom.

Get stock boot animation?

Hi everyone, I changed my boot animation using the app Boot Animation Changer. However now I need to return my phone to the store so I kind of need to get it back to the original boot animation. With the app I did "Stock animation" however it's not the right animation lol.
Is there anywhere I can get the stock boot animation to put on my phone, and how to do so with/without the app?
Thanks everyone

<ps, search first>
Great topic, but it doesn't provide the stock boot animation like I'm looking for, only the means to change the boot animation. I tried to search for it actually, but couldn't find anything in regards to finding the original EVO boot animation.
Anyone? Can't seem to find the stock animation.
^^; Doesn't anyone have a backup they could provide?
here is the stock bootanimation: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VMX4Z1ZG
you could also find it on any rom that uses stock bootanimation like DC (extract the zip file, go to resources>customize> and the bootanimation.zip should be there)

Oh I had no idea about it being on the ROMs, that would've been a lot easier. Thanks.
Though now with the new OTA I'm somewhat afraid to replace my phone, might just stick with my phone and the light leak as long as it doesn't get any worse.

DInc will not go past boot screen. (failed rom install) HELP!

So I'm new here, and to the whole phone tweaking thing. I've been messing with my phone lately and was happily content with my rooted phone and decided to attempt installing jagermod. admittedly i did not read up as much as i should and now after reinstalling i have managed to mess my phone up royally. so, i've tried recovering from a backup, i get the MD5 thing that never goes away, i've tried factory resetting, tried hard resetting, nothing works... it will not boot past the htc logo and then glitches out with black lines... anyhow any help would be great. thank you.

Look in the android development forum for "the ultimate back to stock thread". download the "PB31IMGxxxxx" file there, rename it to just PB31IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sd card. Go into the bootloader and let it run the update. This will bring you back to a 2.2 stock. From there you can re-root and do whatever else you like.

Mine did this also at one time and I found out it was a error from a incompatible kernal

Black lines, or a black strip w/ white lines on either side?
If you see white lines on either side of black strip, sounds like a recovery type mismatch based on AMOLED or SLCD?
Regardless, search for the content from Doug Piston, who should be able to remedy what you are seeing. It may take resetting it to stock (RUU), but his thread(s) have the info you need.

[Q] AOSP boot animation

Hi, could someone please link to a .zip of the AOSP boot animation. I'm on syndicateROM frozen, and while i love the rom I like the AOSP animation better. I think they have completely removed it so just chaning system/media/bootanimation.zip to .bak doesn't give the animation I'm looking for. I've searched the forums for an hour and I can only find custom animations.... pretty please with a cherry on top.
Do you mean the Nexus boot, or the flashing "Android" boot? Both could be considered AOSP boots.
The "android" boot in portrait, not landscape. Thanks.

Delete the existing boot image, and you should be left with the flashing Android Boot.
I did try that, and the word android came up in landscape. I do not believe it was animated. I'll give it a another go, maybe I needed to restart again
EDIT: retried and its as I claimed, "android" appears in landscape mode and is very small and not animated...
Still looking for a .zip

[Q] Need Help...

This is actually kinda ridiculous, so sorry for the fuss, but:
Am on CM7 RC1v2, deblurred Nordic Froyo base, everything worked fine until...
Decided to prep up my lockscreen font so went into system/fonts and friggin idiotically deleted the clocktopia.ttf forgetting to rename the new font to this. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop. All I need is root access from my desktop, but somehow can't get into recovery either. Anybody out there who can help? Trying to avoid a complete wipe, forgot to naindroid and to do a decent titanium backup since I've been in "discovery mode" since 10 days (my first CyanogenMod ). Can't post in the developement section either for obvious reasons...
Thx for any help!
You can run again the update via recover y

uff, thx, worked. Got confused and first booted into the standard system recovery instead of 2nd-init. Followed the steps from the CM7 FAQ for a system update, now everything back to normal...
Still curious though, how do I change the clock font in the lockscreen? Should I just go ahead and rename the new font to clocktopia?

Custom boot.

I want to do a custom boot animation using Rom Toolbox. I was told befor I pick a boot animation I need to hit the menu button and then do a back up. When I try and do the back up I get this. (See picture) I dont wanna pick a boot animation until I know 100% how I can go back to the stock boot.
Thanks for the help!

What kernel are you on? If your kernel does not support etc/init.d (ie stock) then you will not be able to put a custom bootanimation in there. That is probably why the toolbox is not seeing your BA to back up.
There is another way (maybe). You can always download a custom BA and drop it in /data/local, set permissions and reboot. It should run that one over the stock BA. It may not though, as I have never tried this one a stock kernel. Make a full nandroid before trying this just in case it doesn't work.
Sometimes I use this method to mess with my wife's phone and drop a new BA in her /data/local and then when she reboots the next time she's like WTF. She is pretty saavy, so it only takes her a minute or so to figure it out and shoot me a text.
