Hi guys,
I was wondering if there is any way where you can disable Samsung Text to Speech? The reason why is because when I use the app "Smart Connect" to read my text messages, it switches from Samsung Text to Speech engine and the Google Text to Speech Engine. Which is quite annoying. It uses both and there is no pattern on which one it wants to use. I made the Google TTS engine my default text to speech engine.
I uninstalled the app and re-installed it. Still has the same problem. Don't know what it could be. I have no way of uninstalling it or disabling it. SIGH.

If you're rooted, uninstall or freeze it with Titanium Backup. To freeze it you'll need the pay version. If you've chosen Google TTS in Setting though it should not be running.

Hi!
My S4 is not rooted. Is there any alternatives? Google TTS has been set as my default, but it is still switching between both TTS engines when reading my text messages.

Go to Settings> Accessibility and see if you have any features enabled. Sounds like you have a TTS service active.

Yes, TTS is enabled, but there is no option to off it. There is only one option and this is the text to speach engine.

I solved the problem. I had to disable the Google Text-to-speach engine in applications.
Hi guys,
If you are annoyed with samsung calendar and can't disable it within the phone like on AT&T, you can use Debloater by Gatesjunior to disable sCloudSyncCalendar and SPlanner. Now when you respond to an invite in gmail (or anything else) it'll ask to set up a new default calendar. I selected Google Calendar that I got from the play store, so I can now have them go right to the google calendar (even though previously I couldn't change the default action from taking me to S Planner.)
Awesome app! I was able to hide a lot of junk that I don't use! I wish I could find a way to get rid of the S Finder/Quick Connect in the notification shade. Disabling those in the Debloater didn't get rid of the two options in the notification shade. Maybe because I'm not rooted.
Since the notification shade is "hard wired" with s finder text, this definitely wouldn't remove it. Nonetheless, it was a great method to remove a bunch of useless Att bloatware.
can someone tell me what i need to disable to get rid of the music app and the internet app?

If your device is rooted, you can used the app specified in the OP. Otherwise, try Package Disabler Pro (Samsung) by policedeveloper.
I user Fire OS 4.6.1 . installed Google Text to speech engine. Even if I choose it as default is not getting assigned. And when I click the text to speech settings, it gets to Amazon's speech engine settings and not Google's. Does anybody have any idea on this ?

Don't know will this post be usefull nowadays, but I have found the way to choose Google Text-to-Speech.
Let's get it on:
1. Install and launch QuickShortcutMaker.
2. Choose "Settings" on "Activities" tab.
3. Find "Settings->Accessibility->com.android.settings/ com.android.settings.tts.TextToSpeechSettings" among lots of settings parameters.
4. Press "Try" and set Google TTS as default.
5. Enjoy
Hey all, I am rooted, and using LeeDroid's fantastic ROM. I seen to be having an issue with using Google's messenger app as opposed to the default HTC SMS app. When I try to use the Google messenger app, it tells me to set messenger as default with a "change" text box off to the right side. I click this box however nothing changes. I've even frozen the default SMS app within TiBu. Any thoughts on this one, and has anyone had the same experience? Thanks in advance!
I had removed bloatware from my S20 ultra, I have osmand but can't get a voice navigation
The error is could not start text to speech engine.
Is there any AOSP TTS pkg ? or do I have to install Samsung TTS or ghoo-gle TTS ?
I'd like to know too! I'm de-googled and even tried putting "their" Gboard keyboard on to see if it would work. "Not supported on your device" is what I get when I tap the mic. Bummer. Lemme know if you find anything out.
