Yeah, personally, I prefer Fly-On. The scripts are pretty simple and they have been around for a while. I run it with XBreeder and have had zero issues.

Beta fix upped.
Fast fast fast.

Added a beta fix for those not on my swap.
Once you have the mod flashed & running. Unzip, Paste, overwrite, set perms to all, reboot.
Initd is in /etc.
Root Explorer free will not set permissions!

Hopping from cell to Cell while driving-all Good.

Added mini guide.

Do you have any idea if the tweaks that broke wife and data in 4.1 stock would be the same that broke wife and data in 4.4?
Do you think your mods would work in 4.4?

? 4.4
I upped the op's mod w/o net mods & sd ver soon.

Sorry. I meant CM11 which is based on 4.4/KitKat
I know, it's a stretch. You're working with stock 4.1.2, but one can always hope, right?
The more I think of it, the more I realize, it was a silly question. PP has a different app for CM roms anyway.

Sd swap "version/work around" up.
Should work on the mb886, xt897 & the Razr HD too.

If it works, (even if data breaks) look at the s98system tweak script it may be the same as the stock. But i can make a networkless mod of that too.

Cm ver up.

I'm running the PP, OP's CM script with CM11 and haven't any data issues yet. But I haven't gone anywhere yet either, so I have had to switch towers. I'll see how it is on the way to work this morning.
If anything, my WiFi seems a little more stable.
Can't say much about overall speed or battery life yet.
VZW in metro Atlanta, if that makes any difference.

[ROM] Glassmacka - Ice Cream Sandwich. -"I'm too old for this ****." (11/04 12)
Finally, we've gotten Ice Cream Sandwich for our heroes. No other explanation needed.
It isn't ready for daily use yet, but hopefully we'll work it out together.
Working:
WiFi.
Blutooth.
Calling.
Data
Not Working:
Camera
Doesn't work without SIM.
Priority:
Camera.
Speed.
Small bugs.
Download:
Experimental:
This is not ready for daily use. Try it if you want to see 4.0.4 running on your Hero, but it's very experimental.
1.4: http://www.mediafire.com/?z194atkhn5t9dn7
Gapps (Only needed for experimental build): http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip
Stable:
Can be used as a daily build. Flash OpenGL 2.0, overclock a bit and it's quite usable.
Beta 1.3: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13064707/Android/Glassmacka-Beta1.3.zip
Mods:
Lightness (removes some stuff and replaces the launcher with ADW for better speads): http://www.mediafire.com/?p5wi8p7ieg8v5e8
Changelog:
Beta 1.4: Experimental 4.0.4 build. Use 1.3 for a more stable ROM.
Beta 1.3: Should fix Bluetooth.
Beta 1.2: Audio jack is working.
Beta 1.1: DPI is now standard.
Beta 1: Audio and trackball navigation is working.
Alpha 5: Market is working. Random FCs in settings are fixed. It feels snappier (might be placebo ).
Alpha 4: Sound is fixed thanks to the HeroC devs. I also added market and a FileManager. Calls are now fully working, you can hear the person at the other end and they can hear you. Ringtones doesn't seem to work though. I suspect a codec issue, but I will have to look into it tomorrow. From this we actually have a working telephone.
Alpha 3: Calling should be fixed now.
Alpha 2: Fixed touchscreen (mostly).
Alpha 1: Initial release.

It's the same version, I'll make an update when I get home. The school have crappy network. But the new version is no miracles, just some hacks in build.prop, init.d and egl.cfg.
you are the best, ICS for hero is greatest News
overall thanks
You guys working on ROMs are just fantastic!
Already GB 2.3.7 running well on Hero (some newer stock phones still only GB 2.3.3).
Next, ICS on Hero? Wow! Thanks! This is simply incredible!

you got a point here. i read once that the ICS build can remove the buttons from the bottom of the screen... like on the Nexs S build that will come up.
Stefan
was hoping to see lira post something like that...
maybe the cdma stuff for phone/data connections can be fixed using existing knowledge. the touchscreen may be more of a new type of problem though.
FYI I used to own a cheap chinese android tablet that had a usb host jack (many chinese android tabs have that - a really nice feature).
you can plug in a mouse or a keyboard, or with the right type of hub you can use both at once.
Plugging in a usb mouse into an android device will make android display that mouse pointer thing. however I don't recall it disabling the regular touch screen.
So it seems to me that either this rom thinks it's in usb host mode being controlled by a mouse, OR (and this is more likely imho), the touch screen driver is broken on the hero with this rom and therefore the rom is going into whatever control mode is next in it's code's list of options.... which appears to be mouse control mode.
is that help? probably not. but the mouse pointer thing isn't new to 4.0 - I've seen it in 2.1 on chinese tablets as well.
Ok got it running, and noticed when the phone wants to make contact to my carrier. it well freezes sorta and then does a darn fast warm reboot. But yea it tries to XD
Nice with some help! It shouldn't take long to get this into a working state if we are a few developers.
I just updated with a fix for the touchscreen! It works now, but the pointer is still shown when you press the screen (small problem).
aaaaand.... there's no way to delete posts.... sorry!
so with touchscreen working now (even iwth mouse pointer showing) then with data/phone fix when that can be done we will have the first usable ICS build for hero! can't wait until a data/phone connection fix....
This is going faster than I imagined it

[ROM]HO!NO! AOKP Milestone 6 V2 for P930

I need some tester to find bug (problem) with AOKP rom, right now everything seem to work as it should.
This is the last AOKP rom i compile for P930, overclock to 1728 mhz you can change voltage table with init.d script
You can change GPU freq. from system/init.d/10GPUoverclock file
You can use System Tuner app to change CPU freq. and Voltage in real time.
AwesomeBEATSv3 include in the rom
Add Crimson Cobalt theme.
aokp_p930_milestone-6-V2.zip
Plz clear data, cache, dalvik before installing and flash gapps after.
I'm currently backing up my setup on Full Throttle and flashing this; I'm glad to test. Your v6 Full Throttle is really stable by the way. It was initially giving me some force closes, but it seems to have settled in over the course of a few days. I've been meaning to try out AOKP and this looks like a great point to jump in, so I'll give feedback after I've played with this for a bit
---------- Post added at 09:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 PM ----------
Okay, so very first impression...this takes a long time on first boot. Don't get antsy, people lol.
---------- Post added at 10:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:52 PM ----------
Second impression...this rom is very smooth. I'm currently fattening 'er up with all my Titanium backups. We'll see how that goes lol. This is truly great, I really like all the customizations AOKP provides.
I'm about to install this rom.. Quick question.. When I install a new rom is it a bad idea to use TB to restore the 'system data'? Thanks!
EDIT: First impression- LOVE IT
Very smooth, no force closes or anything of that nature.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda premium
Yeah, I would not try to restore system data. The layout is almost certainly different enough to cause problems.
i can never let my buddies see this ROM boot-up or i will never hear the end of it.
running like a pissed-off pink unicorn.
You can disable the bootanimation in the Rom Settings. I think it's pretty easy to replace it in this rom, too, but I haven't gotten to that yet lol. I must say, this ROM feels just as stable as CM9.
The pink unicorn is the best next to the flying pop tart cat in gummy...lol
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Can anyone report back comparing the smoothness of the UI compared to v6 full throttle. v6 is the smoothest rom I have used yet.
Dave,
HO!NO!,
it all worked very well on mine, no issues. I don't intend to run this one though, just figured i'd temp install it and see if can help with any issues but there were none.
Hm... Anyone know what the 'swqgger' toggle does?
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda premium
swagger toggle is a gimmick/joke and has no functionality. i looked into it when i was running andasa's aokp build a few months ago.
This is going to sound really strange, but this is the best rom I've used in months. Finally, I am getting decent standby battery use again. My phone only used 6% battery overnight. The official CM9, Full Throttle, and ICS leak have been dying in less than 10 hours for me with like 2 hours of screen on time.

The only major bug I've found is that the capacitive buttons don't light up for me. I might have something misconfigured, but if so, I can't figure out how to turn them on. I'm going to be sticking with this rom unless something better (newer version?) comes along before JellyBean

Check in settings>display>automatic backlight> tick use custom, then go to edit other levels and check the buttons section. If they're at zero, set them to 225 to restore buttons. You have to set ALL to 225.
Did you get it working on this rom? I did what you suggested and it didn't turn on the lights. I've always been able to get it working in CM9. I'm guessing it's possible HO!NO! missed some liblights patches from CM9 or something. I'd like them to work, but I'm really not too horribly concerned, I know where the buttons are by feel anyway.

[Q] Distorted Sound

So about a month ago I thought I'd try some AOSP Roms (Liquidsmooth, JellyBeer, CM10.1) and all seemed to work okay with no niggles. However I went back to a stock based rom (Wanam) as I missed out on S-Pen features.
I decided to give LiquidSmooth 4.2.2 a try again but for some reason any audio I played sounded distorted at about 60% and above. I initially thought something had gone wrong with my phone but having tried Wanamlite again there were no issues. I thought I'd try my luck with JellyBeer and CM10.1 but the same problem persisted.
Has anyone had this issue? Initially when I had installed the roms the first time round I had no such issues with the sound but yesterday I did.
Any information/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Good question lol, I'm not really sure, I just used whichever was provided with the AOSP roms.
Wanamlite has Adam Kernel, have also tried Perseus with it and that's also fine.
Do you think it's worth trying adam/perseus on AOSP roms?
I dont think adam or perseus has aosp version. Should you double check..
Redpill and neak both have aosp versions. I would suggest neak. Not because one is superior to other, because neak is easier to tweak... uneak engine has simpler mods.. it shall also have saturation prevention.
Stweaks has some sort of down gain feature to prevent distortion also.. however stweaks only works with redpill not neak.
Anyway you will find appropriate switch if you check both of the kernels with related apps

just tried NEAK and RedPill, stweak seems to help alot, no more distortion at the sacrifice of slightly lower audio.
Thanks :good:
Well it seems even though I got the audio fixed on music, there was still alot of distortion in calls and in Google Now/Search. I don't really understand why this has happened as it was fine before and surely it cant be an issue with the phone as there's no distortion problems with Wanamlite or Stock rom.
I'm baffled

As far as I am aware the roms do not have in call volume hack mod.
I'm currently just running Wanamlite 3.3 with NEAK 1.7 and getting really impressive battery life without any of the issues wrt AOSP roms, although I just love the GUI of AOSP roms so it's a bit of a trade off problem.
I guess I'll just keep on doing some research and going through the threads to see if anyone has had a similar issue as I'm unable to post on those threads yet due to my post count.
Thanks anyways though :good:

[Q] Andromadus Slim Bean [build 6.2] - HTC Desire Z (Vision/G2) - end call

Hi There,
I'm actually using this ROM after so many tries with different ones and it is AWESOME but....
Always is something, I have strange behaviour with end call. When I finished call, sometimes dialer automatically tries to invoke Calendar app.
I've flashed this ROM, many times but I've always later or earlier have that behaviour. even after unnstalling calendar it still requests for it.
First time I have such thing in ROM. It's even on fresh install.
Second thing, anybody knows any fine Kernel for Slim Bean which is able to undervolt cpu?
Once I used AlterNdromedus 3.x JB but I think it wasn't stable
Yes it is a great rom.
What version Google apps / addon did you use?
The Calendar app has problems if the wrong version is loaded.
Here is the correct link. I used the all in one aroma installer. It makes things easy.
G2 using Slim Bean
---------- Post added at 07:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:01 PM ----------
I use these settings
368 mhz min 1.2 max. IO scheduler noop, governor asswax works for me.
Others had wake problems when less than 368 mhz. I have found anything over 1.2 mhz has caused stability issues.
I hope any of this was helpful. I have been running Slim since it came out and have loved it.

I know about calendar issue but I had it problematic only with calendar sync, calendar itself was working fine.
My version is exactly the same as You linked - v6. Btw. there is v8, is it compatible with DZ?
So, better not messing with kernel in this ROM?
Thanks.
Version 8 is not compatible. blk_jack made a special version for our phones. I find his ROMS don't need extra tweaking. He picks the best for the phone. Any time I tried to add something I made worse. If ain't broke don't fix it.
I am using cache cleaner SDmaid Pro to keep things running smoothly. If I experience any lag I boot to recovery and wipe the caches including dalvic and let the ROM rebuild them. Another helpful tip I use is adding a second ext and use Link2SD to move large apps to the SDcard.
G2 using Slim Bean
Indeed, I had the same. Whenever I tried to mess with pimp my rom I finished with worse
results. So, only one thing left, is supercharger v6+ is needed on this rom?
Thanks a mil. for the answers.
I don't think you need it. If do try let me know your results.
G2 using Slim Bean
As you mentioned earlier about setting lower freq. to 368MHz I thought it's not mine problem but I was wrong. Today when alarm rang on my Desire Z I couldn't woke it for snooze or turning it off. I needed 30 secs to get UI start reacting and finally to disable the alarm.
Beside I had one restart from google play. So, I decided to change to 368MHz and disabling ZRam.
Btw. did you enabled swap? I've used swap enabler script, hope it's compatible
I don't use swap, I tried it a long time ago. I did not see a noticeable effective to warrant the risk.
I do create a secondary ext on my SDcard and use Link2SD. I found this helps the phone a fair amount.
There is a good tutorial about swap and secondary ext. It was very helpful for me. Have you convert your phone to ext 4. ICS and Jelly bean works better.
Are you using ROM manager or 4ext for doing back ups. 4ext has a lot of good tools.

So, for last few weeks I disabled swap, too. Including earlier modifications (tuning up lowest freq. to 368MHz, disabling zram), now phone is quite smooth.
Somethimes I have lag, especially on android play but it's very acceptable
Thanks again for your help with DZ. Hope that you are happy with Note, it's huge phone
Thanks,
The Note 3 is a beast of a phone. I will not root it for awhile until I know the phone is stable and the ROMS mature.
My daughter will use the G2.
The G2 is a great phone for its day. Most phones from that era would not handled 4.2.2 ROMS like SlimBean.
When my G2 would slow down I would boot to recovery and clear caches and fix permissions. That would cleans things.
Daily I would SDmaid Pro or All in Tool Bow and reboot. That kept my G2 in good running condition.
Note 3
I've found another strange behaviour similar to main topic. I've active call and on the same time my alarm rang and again I wasn't able to snooze it or turn it off. I wonder is this due to general system overload or rom itself.
I'll need to give a try for other rom, for testing purposes.

[ROM][WIP] [4.4] CyanogenMod 11.0 (KRT16S) for NS4G (updated 12/06/13)

Kinda redundant since adityaxavier just put his build up, but here's what I built last night. I can't test it since I'm still not home (I built over SSH), but I think I fixed some if not all of the problems it was having. If I end up getting working builds as good as adityaxavier's, maybe I'll turn this into an unofficial nightly thread. I'm really hoping crespo4g can be included in CM's official nightlies again!
Alpha 2
This is the first build that I've gotten to boot, so I figured I'd post it here.
It's very very buggy as of yet (like FCs everywhere). I'm working on resolving the issues, but it's source built (not a port) and it boots.
So people might want to mess around with it. Obviously I take no responsibility if you brick your devices.

Hey all,
This is in the works, if it ends up building and booting out of the box, we'll have working CM11 KitKat for our Nexus S 4G devices.
I'm not really a dev, mainly a hacker/tweaker/modder, but we'll see how this goes.
Here's my GitHub repo, I forked CM's 10.2 crespo4g sources and made some minor changes to update to the CM11 tree.

Check back for goodies soon!
EDIT (10:51PM PST) I made a dumb, dumb, dumb mistake. I was extracting proprietary blobs from a CM10.2 build I had installed on my phone, and all the WiMAX blobs were missing from the manifest.
Just flashed back to stock and retried the process. All blobs synced without a problem. Rookie mistake. Building yet again. Hopeful this time it will work.
NOTE: This does not mean we'll have working WiMAX yet. I anticipate it'll still be broken from 10.2... sorry =[

Dude you're so awesome, thank you so much! I thought our nexus s 4g had met its end. Can't wait until there's a preview. Keep up the good work.

I think having the blobs from 4.1 did it. Everything is zipped and ready to flash. I'm gonna test it (have to reflash CWM since I went back to stock) and if it works I'll upload it for people to test.
This is awesome to see. My wife has a NS4G that I think would have new life breathed into it with 4.4. She's on 4.2 right now and, unless it's OC'd by a good amount, it chokes on everything.

I don't know if I'd count on 4.4 being a lifeline to speed. 4.2 runs significantly better than 4.4 on my Nexus One.
That said, I'd limit concurrent processes in your developer settings menu regardless.
I think there's problems with yesterdays CM tree, the ROM I built had so many FCs it was unusable on the crespo4g, so I built for the mako (Nexus 4) from the exact same sources and had the same issues (which I've never had before building CM for the mako).
Trying a build from pure AOSP right now. Will keep you guys posted. PM me if you want the buggy ROM, otherwise I'll toss it.

I just want to thank you for your effort regardless of how far you get! I was begining to think the cerspo4g development was dead!
I was thinking about trying to get the crespo CM11 to boot on our devices but I know NOTHING about cooking roms. I just couldn't find the time (too many other projects renovating a FG camper, minecraft server, fixing the car, work, family etc..)
Sooo... THANK YOU! :good:
i'm in to test any build for crespo4g... i won't be able to test data/cell b/c i use this device for listening to music only... would be great to have this on my NS4G though... was looking into making it myself but idk how to do it either lol
Thanks for working on this. I am only using the NS4G as a WiFi device for now, but would love to play around with anything 4.4

I'll post it here when I get a working build, right now I'm trying to merge some of cn.fyodor's optimizations from the original Nexus S build. It might end up being pure AOSP as opposed to CM, depends on what I can get to build without errors or other post-build problems. I don't have a ton of time to work on it over the next couple days, but I'll try to do what I can.

Thanks... Enjoy some turkey today if that's your thing... Personally, I've been using stock for a few months on my N4 and now on my N5 I only rooted to remove some apps and install a custom kernel... I prefer stock to mods now... Mainly because I don't have time to keep up with updating so often... So a stock 4.4 ROM on my NS4G will work for me... I already have the GEL and that runs great for me but I'm still missing the complete 4.4 on it that's why I wanted to flash it lol

+1 for full stock
I prefer full stock myself. Google's been giving such sweet goodness lately, it's really the best way to go. Plus if anyone wants to they can customize to their heart's content. I'm very hopefull you'll get this working fully - as stock.
There's really no such thing as stock when it comes to devices outside of Google's support line. Technically if you want stock its a 4.1.1 factory image from Google. AOSP is close to stock but doesn't include any proprietary Google apps by default. You can remove/add any packages you want via adb and create a "stock" ROM, but you can do that coming from any base be it AOSP, CM, or whatever. Personally, I prefer CyanogenMod. That's why I'm working on getting this build working.

by "stock" i mean no extra features added...
Right, same here... just not having custom anything - adding gapps is fine, but not custom kernels, themes, etc.
First build up. It's very broken. beware.
I'm just glad you're still working on it, I thought you had given up on 4.4 for the nexus s 4g

Should we flash any of the stuff from your other 4.4 thread? CMDA fix, or Superuser?

Nothing except gapps. I'd be impressed if you could get very far with this build though. I made some changes to my source tree, I'll get a new build up tomorrow morning.
I'll give it a go and see what happens on mine. Just got this nexus s 4g from my sister, she had it on Sprint, while visiting her I asked if she had any old Sprint phones she's not using so I can try it out on Ting.
Got two of them now, one for me and one for wife. I have my wife on a stable 4.3 HellyRom, I don't have any problem trying out beta (alpha?) roms on mine though.
I'm going to try it with those two 4.4 tweaks (bionic and dalvik), plus I have a few radios downloaded I can try with it.
I'll let you know how it goes
Edit: So far, it's 'booting', but only to the first set up page asking me to set up a cyanogen account, where I'm constantly bombarded with FC's stating the dialer and systemui have crashed, those happen consistently for a minute or so until the phone reboots and starts the process over again.
I'm going to try flashing a version of Googlephone I saw on another thread after flashing ROM/Gapps, see if that does anything.
I've decided I like this phone enough to start trying some dev work on it. Might take me a while to get back in the loop (last thing I did dev work on was my first android phone, the HTC Hero on Sprint... Looooonngg time ago)
Gonna finish setting up a VM with Ubuntu on it tonight and toy around with some building working with what we've got so far to hep get 4.4 running on the Nexus S 4g

You have my Github repo? I've merged all the necessary changes for the crespo4g in my device tree here:
https://github.com/jc4gavejc/android_device_samsung_crespo4g/tree/cm-11.0
I'm almost done with another build, I actually had openjdk7 installed before, so switched to oraclejdk6 (the one I should have been using).
That might just make the difference in the fcs. There's no other reason why my build shouldn't be working as perfectly as the ones they have for the crespo. Seriously, they're the same device minus the radios.
Hope stuff goes well for you, it'd be fantastic to have another dev working on this.
