Battery Icon MODs - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Let me start by saying I hate posting new threads as even after searching for a while I'm sure someone will come in with a thread link and ask if I even tried to search. That being said, I have done and haven't found a real answer to my simple question.
Does anyone know of any MODs to port the CM9 style "CircleMOD" battery icon or similar (Circle with accurate central percentage) to our stock jellybean devices? The research I have done suggests I also need a 1% battery mod but I can't find much on this either.
My device is rooted and running the Kyrillos ROM but thats still based on the Stock JB anyway.
Any help or links to posts i've missed would be appreciated!
Cheers

Try Xposed framework with modules for battery icon.
Sent from my GT-I8160 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Hey
Thanks for that, unfortunately it seems to have done literally nothing. I installed the app and framework.
I tried using the XBatteryThemer module and it doesn't seem to change anything at all. Any ideas?
Edit: I have also used the RomToolbox app to change the battery icons before but the percentage didn't read accurately and jumped in like 15% intervals. Which makes me think it needs the 1% mod.
Cheers

Try calibrating your battery. I find tuts on xda most helpful (not sure if any on battery mod) btw if you actually want to try, theres OG battery mod but ive never used it

Also can you post the stock off animation just incase?
I can't find one that works in development so I'm just wondering if we can do it yet
I see some roms with it but i want to be stock. is there any way to steal it from the rom?

Closest as I could find using the search function. You do have to be rooted. And you might consider, when you have a question, to ask it in the question forum. You might get faster responses.

if its the same issue as it was on the captivate, its either a line in the framework that is set as disabled or a line that is completely missing.

There are a couple of threads for CRT off animation in the themes section my friend. I have downloaded it and pushed it to my phone with battery mods. Its all here for you and I understand you may have looked so maybe I am missing something but its there. Also if they do not have what you are looking for as far as battery mods try UOT Kitchen - google it...
Battery + CRT
I just put a kernel with CWM on to flash the 1% battery & CRT off mod on and put stock kernel right back on. One listed above is exact one I used

actually looking for the same mod, but i'd like a more pretty interface rather than just numberical # by itself for battery percentage. There are applications out there that show your battery percentage integer on the top left part of the screen (not something i was wanting at all)....search for "battery notifier [big text]" in the apps market.

Being rooted but want the % can be easy. Go to uot.dakra.lt/ and select which battery style you want. You'll have to upload your framework and systemui apks. Wait for the kitchen to configure it, then download and flash.
However you'll probably be happier with flashing a Rom as the dev will have made other enhancements to the stock that you'll definitely enjoy.

Circle Battery mod on Nexus 7?

Anyone got the circle battery mod working on the Nexus 7 yet? I'm miss knowing my battery % at all times.

Have you tried this widget app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hubalek.android.reborn.beta
No need to flash mods and face the associated risks etc, it just runs and displays the battery percentage in your notification bar at the top.
An additional nice touch is that you get a notification in the drop down with also allows you to use the JB notification drag feature to show a battery usage graph.

Simi widget does the job nicely IMO.
I use Power Controls from the market and you can have its notification icon show as a circle battery. This doesn't replace the standard icon, though.

Same app I use and like it a lot. Easy to use and displays lots of info.
There are several ROM's out that have done this already. Plus all the widgets users are saying.
But i am guessign you are wanting the Circle with stock rooted. .lol

We should email JRummy, maybe he can fix the code so it doesn't bugger it all up, would be really nice to have the circular icon with individual percentage numbers up there.
EDIT: I infact just sent him an e-mail about it. We'll see what he comes back with.

Got a replay from JRummy, he says I'm stupid (okay, he didn't say that, he didn't even say anything even remotely close to derogatory) but basically explained that to use the modding function in his ROM Toolbox (for the battery icons) we should have a deodexed ROM.
I had to go look that up cause I don't know anything about odexing/deodexing.
This guy seems to have made a deodexed version of JB 4.1.1 for our Nexus, pre-rooted and whatnot. I'm considering flashing that and then trying the ROM Toolbox thingy but I'm feeling super lazy at the moment so if someone beats me to it... please post your results.
Deodexed 4.1.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802125
Oh and if you want to deodex your own Nexus 7, I'm assuming this guide will work? But seriously I just got off a 12 hour overnight shift and didn't read the thread completely so if you break your Nexus by trying this, don't blame me: http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-themes/4620-how-manually-deodex-your-phone.html

Funny thing, you did exactly what I did, even down to the 2:00am in the morning part. Normally I always backup my stuff but I thought "eh it's just a battery mod." Plus, I had backed up my systemui & framework-res using ROM Toolbox, not realizing that you need a damned menu button to restore them (obviously if you bork your systemui, there goes your menu button). I fixed it by flashing that deodexed ROM you guys are talking about.
I was running a deodexed stock rom, so I thought I would give it a try flashing a mod with rom toolbox.
I made a Cwm backup of my rom, backed up my system ui and framework apk.
Installed the mod, and system ui crashed.
Now I thought I would be able to restore my Cwm backup.
But then it turns out that my Cwm backup was corrupted, so I then had to reinstall the stock rom.
But I did not have any tb backups to restore my apps, so then I had to reinstall all my apps too.
So I am fully pissed off.
Has anyone got a circle battery mod working on the n7 with rom toolbox?
Cheers Corey

I haven't had any issues getting anything working except framework mods... So. I suggest manually updating your SDK and java to the latest builds. Then taking a stock jb framework... Fk23 and making the mods and compiling. Then, grab the themed images from goodness and drop them in your new working modded framework with 7 zip.. Worked for my black rom

[ROM][V20F][AT&T][P93x][NitroTNT v2.2] Stock-modified ICS [07-23-2013][UPDATE]

AT&T V20F NitroTNT Version 2.2
Based on V20F from HO!NO! (Thanks for all your work) and added Wind Kernel 3.7 ICS.
Additional thanks goes to mattman86, lyfkevin & kronicskillz whose work is also in this.
I made this with the intention making it as close to what AT&T would have done (without the bloat), plus make general improvements to the entire stock experience. One of the things I wanted to address was what some people have referred to as "LAG". I think I have addressed this nicely as version 2 has no perceivable lag. I also wanted to start addressing some of the ugliness (thank you mpsantiago) by restyling the icons to something I find more appealing. I look forward to everyone's feedback.
Status Bar icon changes:
KronicUI Mod....thank you Kronicskillz.....
4G and 4G lte icons made smaller (stock ICS had them way too big)
If you prefer the original system bar icons and theme download the attachment below
In future versions I intend to work on the cosmetics of things like the dialer app.

Thank you, no real development here just lots of experimenting and tweaking. I started this little project because I was never 100% happy with any of the stock versions out there and so this is the end result. Great battery life sleeps very deeply averages about 3% in 10 hrs at idle plus I also tweaked the GPS config file to eliminate my lock issues.

Looks great! just had to tell u this is the exact setup (- your icon/ status bar work) that I have been using since hono's release; even down to the launcher, Google now, wind, etc etc. Great minds think alike eh? Pretty much as close as we can get to a stock lg jellybean rom. That being said I haven't flashed but can pretty safely assume nitrotnt is crazy fast, incredibly stable, and one of the best roms for battery life available. I'm working on a similar cm10.1 based version now until WiFi is fixed on the official jb leak.
Edit: what app do you recommend for overclocking? Specifically the GPU both 2/3d. Also settings like ksm, zram, schedulers etc for best performance? I like to play around to find the best setups for performance, gaming, battery life, heavy usage etc. Thanks again

In regards to an overclocking app I just use no frills as I have no desire to oc the GPU. With that being said you could probably use CPU tuner or something similar. Since it has wind kernel it shouldn't be a problem. In regard to other settings I use what lfkevin has recommended for the ICS version of wind kernel (intellidemand & row) even though for the cm10.1 version he recommends ondemand and cfq. What the differences are I don't know I am still a bit of a newbie. . In regards to zram. I remember HO!NO! a long time ago recommending to not change those settings, but that could have also been in regards to cm9. I hope this helps some. I really am not a developer I just can figure out how to tinker. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy this ROM.

i have a few comments... first of all nice work not bad at all.
2nd i noticed that it runs much smoother with apex launcher.
3rd fyi MHL is verified working on this rom. (due to based on stock nature)
4 is a request, is it possible to add circle with percentage battery icon and the blue data signal icon?, also is it possible to make bluetooth go grey instead of white when not in use, and make it slightly smaller?
not a huge deal but the white is a bit anoying, also would be nice to remove am/pm from status bar as it takes up room and almost nobody needs it
overall good work nice rom

Thank you for the comments. In regards to the launcher, the Optimus UI is just my personal preference but if you want to use Apex just freeze the Optimus launcher after you install Apex so it isn't using any system memory.
In regards to your request it would be as simple as replacing the systemui.apk from HO!NO!'s v20f since I used his ROM as a base for this. As far as the AM/PM that will require modifying XML files in the systemui.apk so that is going to take some more time to work through those. For the Bluetooth it would just be a simple PNG file swap, easy enough. So I will see about providing you a modified file for that. Who knows I even might like it better . Thank you again for the critique.

thanks man, one other thing i noticed is that poweramp is crashing, i haven't figured out if its rom related or not yet, if you feel like it you could install the poweramp trial and tell me if it crashes on your phone, thanks again.
i noticed the bluetooth thing right away cuz i leave mine perma on, since i use my bluetooth stereo in my car and i can't be bothered to turn it off and on every time, i also noticed that leaving it on doesn't consume much power (atleast i dont think it does).
---------- Post added at 09:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 AM ----------
just to clarify i want the blue icons from CM cuz i use an all blue theme, icons, background etc, that's why i like the blue data/wifi/battery icons, if it's too much work to change them all though, or if other people dont want it, just don't worry about it i dont want to be too much trouble.
is there a way for me to just mod them on mine? ive never looked into it.
edit ----> i isolated the crash problem i think, it's happening to anything that uses sdcard, so i think my card needs a format.
- update, i can play media files off my sdcard with es file explorer, but not any media player that uses the system media scanner
- update i think the is the fault of an app i used that was suposed to rescan media.
i tried a bunch nothing fixing it so i'm going to do a full wipe and try again, i'm liking this rom though it has potential if i get it all working.
i got the crashing issue after formatting sdcard and full wipe and reinstall, something is amiss in the rom i think.

so the fix for this is here:

i believe, i no longer have the rom installed but i'm assuming thats it in case anyone else needs it. it's a flashable zip that removes some of the tweaks he did that cause some apps to crash like poweramp
I will have some free time Sunday, I think and will look at incorporating these changes. Never noticed the power amp issue because I don't use but I will try to duplicate. I will also install the fix to make sure it doesn't create other issues before I roll it out in an update. Thanks again for your feedback. I have been using this ROM 100% since I rolled it out and just love it. Just to give you an idea I have never run with a ROM longer than 2 weeks before installing something different and I have had this phone for over a year.
