[Q] The bests rom - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
What are the bests ROM for an Ace 2?
I heard CM, AOKP have little bugs. I want a very stable and bugfree one.
I will flash CM11 when it will be bugfree and stable but it isn't the case and I can't continue with ROM Stock. :S
And if I flash Italian Job (I'm on stock MC8 with a i8160P with non-p flashed rom), do I have to assert lines in updater script?
Thanks

CM10.1 for now.

1: absolutely zero known bugs (apart from the default theme being very lame in my personal opinion )
2: If recovery uses the build.prop from the main system, there would be no need to. I'd personally do it anyway because then I can just have one zip that will always work...

Never happened to me in the 2 weeks I used it... also remember that on P models you need to replace the RIL

RIL?
Did you receive incoming calls of privates numbers?
Do u have P version? What's you baseband if yes?
With P version, I only have to delete assert lines in updater-script.txt (how to?) and copy tee folder, isn't it?
Thx

Nope, standard model here (from the first and probably last giveaway I won...)
Most ROMs are for the normal model and will get blank IMEI if used on the P model, so you must manually replace
libreference-ril.so libril.so libsecril-client.so libsec-ril.so
somewhere under /system/lib with ones from a P ROM

I don't have to delete assert lines? Or it's only with CM10.2?

Try it as is and if it fails... remove the line and try again
(unzip the ROM, go to META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script, remove the long line starting with assert(getprop, recreate the zip and flash as usual)... and if on Windows you must use some editor compatible with Linux terminators like Metapad, Notepad++ or Programmer's File Editor!

Last question..
Does Kyrillos is best than Italian Job ?
because if I flash Me1 3 parted for P version then MG2 i8160p for install Kyrillos I will not come back to MC8 because it will be to looooong

I personally prefer it. In fact, I don't even remember if I was ever able to install The Italian Job, it always rejected the file or didn't boot... but I was a complete Android noob back then...

I'm still on build from 17/11. Absolutly bugfree.

Stock Odex Circle Percent Battery Mod

I keep seeing requests for a circle battery mod on stock odex roms so I thought I would share mine. I am running the newest version of Rogers stock rom (LH1), rooted. See screenshot below. Make sure you deactivate "Display Battery Percentage" under settings/display.
THIS MOD IS COMPATIBLE WITH LH1 FIRMWARE VERSION ONLY. PLEASE ENSURE YOU MAKE, OR HAVE, A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING / TRYING THIS.
Flash the zip file here using cwm or twrp: Stock Odex Battery Mod
NOTE: Use at your own risk. I take no responsibility for your phone.

Thanks for your feedback, I have already fixed the file name. If anyone has specific requests, I suggest the uot kitchen (Google it), you can cook your own custom mods. That was where I made this one. The only issue is to replace meta inf update file in the zip, which I would be happy to assist with.

For the file upload tab, you need to upload 3 files from your phone: systemui.apk (/system/app), and two files from your /system/framework: framework-res.apk & twframework-res.apk
The kitchen modified these files with your mods and packages them in a flashable zip file for you. When you try to flash them, you may get an error requiring a change in the updater script. Let me know if that happens and I will walk you through the fix.

Thats the updater script issue I mentioned. You need to replace the "update-binary" file located in meta-inf/com/google/android of your zip with the one in my zip. Should flash fine after that.
so it was not that it was an ATT phone that was the issue but the firmware: this mod is based on LH1 and would not be compatible with the earlier LE8 firmware even if it was a Bell or Rogers phone -- you can't take a mod from newer firmware and flash it on older firmware.

CM10 Camera Issue

Ok, I've commented about this several times in the CM10 Discussion thread and nobody seems to give a rat's bum...
When I take a picture, the EXIF info is saved as December 2008.
There are not much differences from ics 4.0.4 to jellybean 4.1.2 so i prefer to use stock rom which has less bugs
I'm using hono stock cwm flashbale v20c
I need help to port or add qmemo app from v20f bell rom to v20c at&t
And i wana add it to quick setting menu to be able make screenshot.
I did ask it in a new topic before with no result and success !
You are a developer and i used your rom liquid nitro ,Can you add it to quick setting menu ?

Why not just run v20f? Once you put in the APN info it runs just fine with AT&T and with the additional tweeks it offers better battery life and a newer improved Adreno driver plus it offers the quickmemo you love its a win win for you.

Vibration on key press are too strong??
Does anyone feels that the vibration when hitting the "menu, search, back" buttons in CM10 is to strong??
Is there any way to reduce the vibration feedback?

This question is almost exactly like, if not completely different than the thread topic... but to answer your questions: I wouldn't say it's too strong, but it seems that it vibrates twice for each press. no.

You can extract them from the .zip of the rom you are using or a basic CM10 if you are using camera 4.1, if using 4.2 you are gonna have to find the complete package that comes with the lib, look for the thread called "android 4.1 to 4.2" and extract them from its package or extract them from a CM10.1 package (not sure that works tho, used the android 4.1 to 4.2 package in my case)
As for the files, you need to extract:
In the zip, they are in system/lib and are named libjni_filtershow_filters.so libjni_latinimegoogle.so libjni_mosaic.so and liblightcycle.so
Once you extracted the files, (backup or rename the old files 1st) copy them to your phone's system/lib using a root explorer (es or root explorer w.e you like to use) and make sure to change the files persmissions to r-r-rw and reboot your phone.
If that doesnt work, l really dont know ...

ChatON app has been added, Useless. I'll upload the DXLL1 via a NANDROID Backup for you to notice changes because I'll be getting back to my in-box firmware (DXKK4) as this one really decreased my Internal Memory as I've installed more than one update, DXLI1(Upgraded via Odin) > DXLL1 (OTA Update) = 143 MB internal memory. ain't cool right ?
BACKUP
Ok, Here's the backup https://hotfile.com/dl/190742814/33110a1/clockworkmod.zip.html
Extract the clockworkmod.zip file first using WinRAR and right click & select "Extract Here"(for WinRAR users) or your preferred ZIP extractor because XDA seems not to accept folders
Take note:
1.The CSC of the firmware is set to XTC means it's a Philippine CSC (Galaxy Y phones without a data plan)(Galaxy Y's bought from Samsung Stores) If you successfully restored my backup, Set your CSC to your country/region, example: I live in Philippines and I bought a Galaxy Y from a Samsung Store and since I live on Philippines, my CSC is set to XTC. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800 on what CSC to choose, just scroll it down. you will found it.
To Set you CSC (Country Sales Code)
1.BACKUP YOUR IMPORTANT DATA.
2.Dial *#272*_your_imei_# on your dialer app.
3.To know your IMEI (Because on the 2nd step, It needs your IMEI) dial *#06# in your dialer app.
4.Be sure to select your appropiate CSC, its why I asked you to look to Doky's thread and scroll it down.
5.After you select your appropiate CSC, select INSTALL.
6.Your phone will suffer from Factory reset, that's the reason I asked you to backup your data..
7.Set it up, Bloatwares may vary from your carrier.
8.After setting it up (Touch Android to begin, set date and time etc.),Use it normally and try if you can receive text messages from your friends.
2. The Date & Time is set to " GMT 8 Philippine Time ", Just change it to your country's date and time .

vold.fstab is no longer used in 4.3. Instead, fstab.<device> is now unified. Check the contents of yours. Unfortunately, this means you'll have to unpack your boot.img, modify the ramdisk, repack and reflash.
Refer to http://source.android.com/devices/tech/storage/ although it doesn't provide nearly enough information in my opinion. I end up digging through sources for various devices.

dammit! It could have been so easy! :V
Any Solution for increasing internal sd ram size ?
Are there any 3rd party programs which can do the task for me ? I dont want to unpack .img file and edit and then repack and reflash. Just too many variables that can go wrong ?
I have Samsung Galaxy i9003 with SlimRoms --- > [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][4.3][A3] Slim Bean build.1.6-WEEKLY-1193
You can see if any of the kernel zips are using the "anykernel" method and modify the script to suit.
If you can't find one, you can download one of the zips from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181820 and figure out how to adapt the relevant ramdisk patching section (look in tmp/otgmod.sh) to suit. It basically dumps the current boot.img, breaks it apart, mods the ramdisk, makes a new boot.img, and then flashes it. Strip out all the irrelevant parts and change the partitions to suit.
Has anyone found a way to do this in 4.4 yet, specifically CM11? Switching with the build.prop isn't working for me.

I don't follow your phone, but nonetheless, build.prop mods shouldn't have worked in 4.3.
Further, starting in 4.4, the external sdcard is also run through fuse. See http://source.android.com/devices/tech/storage/config-example.html specifically the last section: Emulated primary, physical secondary (like Xoom)
From there, you can understand what needs to be switched. Again, this requires modifying the ramdisk.
I don't know if there's some sort of hack that'd allow you to change a global variable from a child. Perhaps, an init.d script would work at the parent level? If so, you may be able to switch around EXTERNAL_STORAGE and SECONDARY_STORAGE that way. The paths will remain unchanged, but proper android apps should respect the env vars.
Hi
on Kitkat, the mounting are set in the fstab files which are inside the boot.img file.
To edit them, you should unpack the img file, edit the files, then repack it in order to flash it.
The way to unpack them depends on the device manufacturer. For MTK devices, it is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411&page=29
I did it successfully on my Cube tablet in 4.4.
For others, you should find the tools on the web...

Do your self bro, dont just ask and ask.
This is how:
1. If you have stock rom, head over HERE, extract hidden and cache only, make it .tar then flash it using odin.
OR
2. If you have another custom rom, extract folder system/csc. Extract this cust.rom, copy paste that csc folder in system folder, zip it again with 7zip or windows native zipper, flash via cwm, boot again, using csc changer to change csc.
I sugesting you to try the first one.
Second one need skill so you not trapped in bootloop.

Overheating Issues
I got Overheating issues with all of the Custom ROMs I've tried that are based on the NB3 4.4.2 Firmware. Does this have that, and is noticeable esp. when charging?
