I'm looking for a stock kernel that has unsecured ADB implemented in it. I found one on the Verizon S4 forums and was hoping there was one cooked up for the Tmo variant.
Insecure ADBD app has been really iffy and I've had a range of little nuances with custom kernels and would prefer to stick with a stock kernel but with unsecure adb in it. Thanks.

Bumpity bump. Can anyone cook one up if it doesn't exist?
Bump. Maybe I'll clarify. A stock kernel with native init.d support (insecure adb, etc). Last bump I guess

Do you guys know of a rom that can support the installation of Ubuntu on the evo. I read that the kernel had to support loop but I wanted to know which kernels have it built in.
Hopefully I didn't confused anyone. I'm currently running the latest Virus ROM.

Bump.
I have a kernel with loop support but I want to know if it includes 4G and I'd it will be compatible with Fresh's latest.
Here is the kernel. (can't upload through the XDA app)

There are threads with cifs.ko modules for the stock kernel and stock G2 OTA kernel (just search the G2 forum for cifs.ko).
Pershoot also provides a cifs.ko module for his kernel (found on his dev page---download the zip of kernel modules). I run this kernel have been using the module with CifsManager for a while now.
Not sure if it'll work with your kernel or not, though I believe the CM and Pershoot kernels are fairly similar. Worth trying.
Thank you, I found it in pershoot's modules. Unfortunately I guess it's not compatible with the modified baconbits for trackpad wake, I'm still getting "device not recognized" in cifs manager.
Found this:

I guess I'll need to use a different kernel?
Yeah, I think so. Or you'll have to compile the module yourself for your specific kernel...
Do i have to have a rom to get a new kernel. Thats the first question the others will be after this one is answered. Thanks in Advance
It really depends if the kernel supports the phone and rom. Most kernels only work if the rom supports that kernel. Take cyanogenmod for example. If you were to flash cm that has stock 3.0 kernel, you can't use the 3.4 kernel or above unless the rom supports it. If you want a more recent kernel then you'd have to flash a rom that supports it.

You need to be rooted with custom recovery to flash a kernel. But, you can use the stock rooted rom. Does that answer?
Also, if you stick with stock rom, or any touchwiz rom, can only use touchwiz kernels. If you want aosp kernels, need to be on an aosp rom.

Hi,
Is there any ROM for our S4 with Pdroid or Open Pdroid ? I am only interested to Root my device if there is anyway to have Pdroid with stock base ROM.
Thanks for your help
No one knows ?

I would also like to know the state of PDroid or alternative for the GS4. I haven't found anything so far. LBE Privacy Guard definitely isn't going to work the GS4. I have tinkering with Permissions Denied, although I am not fond of the app as I find it confusing.
Try patching the ROM yourself
PDroid
OpenPdroid

I think I will give it a go. Past devices went quite poorly for me. The HTC Rezound would not work with any PDroid patching I tried, and the Droid Charge with Tweaked ROM (or any EP4 ROM) would not work with PDroid.

I saw a ROM in the AT&T development section and I remembered seeing this post a while ago. Didn't know if you've seen it or not, but check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317667
Just flash an M1919 kernel directly after flashing that ROM and you should be good to go.
Thanks a lot I have canadian videotron version I dont know if flashing t mobile kernel will work. How can I keep my stock kernel ?

Oh.. I didn't even notice you had the M1919V... I haven't read enough to know what all exactly is compatible for that specific device... Be sure you get clarification before flashing anything.

4.2.2 cannot be patched for Pdroid . dunno about openPdroid
Can someone please make a custom kernel that supports the official CM11 nightly builds? The features I am looking for are USB-OTG support definitely and if possible for it to support UMS as well. There currently is a custom kernel for jellybean but there isn't one for KitKat and if someone could make one for KitKat that would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also wish a kernel to be able to overclock with KitKat.
Yes! Although it flies once you bump up the default cm11 ridiculous underclocking!

Fauxsound please!
Bump! It sucks not having any custom kernels for this phone, im running the latest cm kitkat. For me faux sound is a must have for this phone, can someone please make a kernel with faux sound at least? Id do it myself but i am not competent enough. Or maybe if someone managed to update the discontinued kernel to work with kitkat?
