Nillken smart case - Nexus 5 Accessories

Ordered this and it came in the other day. For those that don't know it's like a wallet case that covers the screen. It has the smart wake built in. I love it. I use it with lockscreen disabled so when I open the front cover it turns the device on. My only complaint that I have seen with all smart cases I've seen is that it covers the LED notification light. I wish someone would make one with a cutout built in over the notification light. The whole reason for the notification light is to see if you have something waiting for your attention. I modded mine (albeit poorly) to where I can see the light blinking. Would be perfect with a stock cutout. I hate screen protectors, but the wallet case adds that little bit of protection without bulk for drops onto the dreaded uneven surface.

Can you post photos?

Trident Case Cyclops Blue tint with flash problem identified.

I finally received my Cyclops Case after waiting weeks to get it! I have found a "bug" in the case, and I have diagnosed the problem even. Everyone who has this case will notice a sort of blue tint when using the FLASH when taking a picture. I found out why, when the flash goes off, the plastic covering the camera lens actually channels the light from the flash through it, this can be seen with the naked eye, it illuminates the PET material at the right time right when the camera takes the photo, thus a blue tint. It is basically as if a blue filter has been placed over the camera lens. I think this could be fixxed by placing a small piece of opaque plastic between the 2 pieces of PET, which I believe are currently one solid piece! Just thought id share with you guys, love the case, now I feel my phone is protected!
Post this in the cyclops thread too
So if you take a picture without flash this does not happen? I don't have my case yet, but should be here soon.

Correct. Pictures taken without the flash look normal.
A week ago I had the same idea, to block the light of the flash from illuminating the plastic. I cut a narrow strip out of the plastic, separating it into two sections. I then cut a piece off a rubber band and placed it into the gap.
Unfortunately, while I did notice some improvement, the blue tint still persists. Adjusting some camera settings also helped a lot. But so far I haven't eliminated it completely.
I have some more testing to do, but if that fails I will try removing the section of plastic over the flash.

White Trident
I just got the white trident and found out that it fits so tight that the proximity sensor freezes. When you make a phone call, the screen goes into sleep mode and the only way to hang up the phone is to remove the case so the screen will wake up. Otterbox has several cases out for the evo now. I am going to try one of those

take a small drill bit the size of the LED holes and drill through the PET. problem solved. no more blue/purple tint. wait! make sure the phone is out of the case first. or you can simply remove the PET over the LEDs with a small razor blade color the inside of the case with a black sharpie. problem solved.
The Real Fix for Trident Case Blue Tint Issue - WINNING!
The window that goes over the flash has two protective coverings on it.
Here is what causes the blue tint:
1) Take off covering by pulling on the tab.
2) Install on back of case.
To solve the problem add this step:
3) After the window is placed correctly on the back of the case, remove the second piece of protective film (on the inside of the window). This film is blue, probably so that we see it.
Yeah, the Trident Case instructions are lacking, but my Netgear router's instructions told me to go to http://www.routerlogin.net/ to access the router's settings Web-app. HELLO! NO DNS UNTIL THE ROUTER IS ALREADY SETUP.
maybe their router redirects that address to a local ip? still, weird.

SGS4 'View Case' - We need this for the One

Looks pretty nice imho.
Be great to see something like this on the One.
Source:
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-s-view-case-review
Even if someone did make this, how is the One supposed to know that the cover is attached? The phone doesn't have any magnets for triggering sleep/wake.
Yeah I'm aware of that, sucks.
wont' work well. the reason it works on the sgs4 is because of the AMOLED screen - you can turn on just the part of the screen that is visible through the cover without turning on the rest, so it doesn't use as much power. with an LCD screen like that on our One, you'd have to turn on the entire screen and it would burn power.
not to say it's not possible, just get some sort of flip cover, cut a hole, and line up your lockscreen widgets.
Pocket now has their review up for this case http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IxYAefSP0o
I dont see this coming for the one since its part of the GS4 battery door and the one doesn't have the Amoled display like the above poster said. I do want a case like this but not at a $70 price. I would drop $30 max if it had a magnetic cover.

I didn't think of this, I guess the One is limited by it's screen tech as you've already said... shame as I think it's a nifty feature.

Not quite sure what it is supposed to do. There is a cut out for the front led notification light but apart from when you double tap the screen or close it there is no light in standby. Also the cover itself does not have a light but a clear plastic ring which refracts the light from the screen, it looks ok but you can't customize the colour or anything. It is just white.
Edit: and whilst the cover has been on my phone I have noticed reduced battery. The rear cover is a different material to the original cover, it is a ridged plastic. It feels OK but not as nice as the normal rear cover.
The lighting on the circle case is fake, it is just a piece of clear plastic reflecting the LCD.
The LCD animate a ring around the clock when you close the cover. I haven't find any app to change the lighting yet, I hope one will come out soon.
As a side note to anyone wanting to get one.
If you get a Glass protector, I couldn't get the cover to magnetically close, it seems the extra mm from the glass is preventing this.
Anyone got a plastic screen protector, can you confirm the cover can magnetically close?

Screen leak?

http://https://youtu.be/icCu9VpkDf4How many have light leaking through a gap between the metal frame and panel?
Look at my picture posted below..ty
At first I thought that I might have a similar problem but of you're using a screen protector that extends to the edges of the glass but does not sit flush with the bezel then the protector almost acts like a fiber optic cable in the sense that the white light from the icons on the screen shine through the edges of the protector and reflect off the bezel. I was using an IQ shield protector and this effect was really noticeable. I had some other free protectors and the IQ shield was peeling away so I decided to switch it out and since then I haven't seen the issue at all. As for the kid in the video he seems like a *****, I honestly couldn't see the bleed through effect he was trying to portray in his video.

I see nothing in that video, and I see nothing on mine, it seems kinda silly to me.

I just posted a photo of mine. this isn't silly imo. The kid is showing his when the room is lit up. If it was low light or dark you'd see it better. Check out my pic and tell me what you think? Xda tweeted this kids video, which then lead me to checking mine. Mine doesn't have an edge to edge protector on it. I have a gap that allows light to go through.
I just looked closely at mine, and there is no gap or light bleed.

i have a little of the light leak... but does it matter? Not really.. it doesnt change the quality of the image or screen.. plus I have a case on mines, i wont even notice..
Thanks for the response. Imo, it matters a lot. I don't always have a case on and I can see the leak looking directly at the screen head on. Resell value will suck too.

Accessories Standing cover with Pen

Got my case today and it's OK, but a couple of gripes. There is zero protection for the hinge. Drop it on edge and no safety net. Given that's kind of the heaviest area when folded seems likely to be what hits the concrete on a drop.
The front cover seems to slide around a bit if you put edge pressure on it.
While wireless charging works with the stand slotted, the pen holder prevents it from getting close enough to charge.
Also a bit too bulky to feel natural in the hip pocket with the pen slotted in, though I expected that. The pen is for travel and meetings so I won't have it attached all the time.
The back of the case shows fingerprints almost as bad as the screens do.
*EDIT* And finally I just noticed - the stand is really only useful when folded and in landscape mode. Otherwise you might as well just lay the phone down it leans back so far.
The gray-green of the case is definitely the color I expected the phone to be, so it's not a match to the phone case gray color, but the phone color is only really visible around the power button.
Sorry for potato photos, the only thing I had handy to shoot with was my Surface Duo 1.0.

So as I understand, the colour of the case (Gray green) does not match the colour of the phone (Gray green)?

I bought some for when I got a replacement fold 3. It's worth it. I could reuse the case.

I was able to chose the color in the US.
One thing I do like about the pen attachment; when the pen is installed with the phone open and the power and volume buttons ot the top, I can slide the pen out a couple inches and with my left hand I can completely hold the open phone. The pen slides between my middle and pointer fingers and the phone balances while open and is weildable.
Maybe I should add a photo?
